To be feel that some of the public have been mislead and a charity have lost out?

I just had a look at Dax's tale of New York on facebook. I now see the £13k they promised of the publics money to Ronald Mcdonald House isn't going there now. They raised the money by advising the public, funds were to cover medical bills, then they were going to give to the charity.

Nice chunk paid off their mortgage eh.

FayKorgasm · 01/03/2015 14:39

If they don't donate every penny of that money then they are shitty people. Not every parent who stays at RMH brings their child home in happy circumstances. They are so lucky and blessed to have been able to bring home Dax alive, that money could mean that another set of parents get to hold their child in their last moments.

Actually they probably pulled the thread in case they were sued.

ilovesooty · 01/03/2015 14:44

Oh yes Tough. They make it pretty clear on the page that you'll be deleted if you criticise them or raise concerns.

JoanHickson · 01/03/2015 14:45

There is no money to sue mn, it looks like it has been earmarked elsewhere.

Well, I can't say I am even vaguely surprised, I didn't think any of it looked right from the very start.
I really hope that the baby is happy healthy and loved, however everything else smells like sh*t.

FarFromAnyRoad · 01/03/2015 14:53

Is there really not some legal entity that exists to investigate this kind of thing? I find that hard to believe to be honest. Can I then start an embroidered hard luck story about my poor old dad and sit back and watch the money roll in? Can I do that? Then piss about spending the donations on shiny shit to make me feel fabulous with no need to answer to anyone for anything? Can anyone confirm if that is really the case?

Obtaining money by deception.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 01/03/2015 14:57

So is there evidence of what they're spending it on or are they just keeping quiet?

FayKorgasm · 01/03/2015 15:01

Do Charities still have public accounts? Surely a sizable donation made in the last 11 weeks would be easy to find.

Did they get paid for the press they did?

RustyParker · 01/03/2015 15:32

The Ronald McDonald charity have commented on the Dax page after they were alerted to to the fact the admin said the "couple will make a sizeable donation from the funds plus a personal donation". Hopefully the charity will keep an eye on this too.

All mention of donations going directly to Ronald McDonald is a recent thing, after mention was made of reports to Action Fraud etc. on the page.

It stinks to high heaven.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/03/2015 15:35

I presume so, YouKilled. After the Max Clifford comments early on and getting arsey about the press using their Fb photos, I doubt they do anything for nothing!

YouKilledLucyBeale · 01/03/2015 15:35

You can't report fraud unless you are a victim of the fraud.

LineRunner · 01/03/2015 15:35

Do they think they are celebrities now?
