To be so upset that I've failed my driving test AGAIN!!!

I'm so so upset.
I've got young children and it would make our lives so much easier.
I've been practising for a year, have taken well over 60 hours of lessons, mock tests all go brilliantly well and then I fail the real test.
I can't keep paying out for these tests as well as the instructors time but we have an automatic yet thought best to learn manual in case I ever need to change although after this last awful test today I'm thinking of buying the manual first so I can at least not have to pay the instructor again.
The first test was last month and just awful, I was so nervous , the instructor didn't talk at all, my nerves were shot to pieces with him and I missed a mini roundabout completely, bumped the kerb doing a turn in the road and then forgot to do the blind spot check as we pulled off so 3 majors ( no bloody minors! )
Today I got the guy who passes everyone my instructor said, he was lovely, chatted the whole way, I thought it had gone brilliantly and then he said id failed!
3 minors for gears and 1 major.
The major was for after doing my emergency stop, even though I checked all around me, in the distance was another car and I should have waited for them to go .
Just feel really shit that at 36 I'm finding this so fucking hard.
Passed the theory first time with 2 wrong answers.
Maybe it's just not meant to be.

Well ive just got back from my second driving test which I failed miserably on 1 major and 10 minors! the major was being in the wrong lane at a roundabout and not checking my mirror when crossing over!! and the minors were for changing to first gear too early at junctions! feel so frustrated as im normally so good at driving but I was so nervous that my legs and hands were shaking. now I feel like giving up I really dont want to go through that again and let everyone down :(

I failed 3 times ages 17-20 and then passed on my 5th attempt aged 39. So 8 goes in total! If you really want to drive you just have to keep doing it and getting better each time. The cost is the most prohibitive thing with each test costing nearly £100 when you factor in paying for use of the instructors car. Don't tell anyone you're sitting your test, it takes the pressure off a bit.

Just DONT EVER GIVE UP OP

i failed so many I lost count, it was gutting

then one day, for some randon reason I passed. this will happen to you too

statistically, one day you will PASS

its gutting but hang on in there

I still cant parallel park though, and sometimes for get who has priority at a roundabout Grin

its much more common to take several goes to pass these days than to pass quickly. Its the UK, we have the 2nd hardest driving test in the world, and they're strict strict strict.

My advice is to go automatic and then if you need to do manual test in the future, do it when you need it. I failed my manual test 7 times, and i spent 3 years on and off learning (dyspraxic). I love my automatic though and wish id gone for that sooner and saved myself time and money. If you need to change your car in the future you can just get another automatic. Theyre hardly rare.

And if your examiner wants you to do an emergency stop, hes already done the checks for you. Hes checking your reflexes. You stop straight away. Thats the whole point.

i cant parallel park either.

Ahh buzziebee Flowers

It was 3rd time lucky for me. If you are confident that you can drive, don't be put off. It has changed my life. The 3rd time I told nobody I was doing my test again - not even my husband! I recognise the feeling of letting others down, but persevere - it is so worth it

Just keep at it, you will get there.

I passed on my fifth test. I'd have probably given up if it hasn't for dh's encouragement although I haven't quite forgiven him for passing first time.
It felt like a massive achievement when I finally passed :) I was most proud that I hadn't given up.

Last night I sat and read some of this thread. My test was this morning and my theory test would have expired for the 4th time, next week.

I was so stressed and upset I sent a scheduled text to my instructor, for 9am this morning. Saying I wasn't going for my test. Reading your messages made me have a glimmer of hope and my friend gave me a good talking to. I finally managed to pass, 18 years later. On my third attempt.
I actually asked the examiner if he was joking. To all of you who haven't done it, good luck. Try again. Don't give up.

Please try again.

I found it incredibly hard too, I was so nervous!

How about trying at a different test centre next time? I passed on the 5th time, and I swear it was because the examiner was different. The four times I failed was with this horrid old man who I swear was senile!

You'll get there, it is so worth it Thanks

You can do it!!!! I failed 4 times and just passed last week. like you I was great in lessons all my fails had very few minors just one stupid thing. As if I just lost my head.
I woke up the morning I passed and just thought fuckit I won't think about this emotionally I'll treat it like a job interview (I'm good at them).
You will pass don't give up its life changing. Especially with kids.

I passed my test two days ago first time in an automatic car, this is not to say I hadn't taken the test before in a manual three times and FAILED! Trust me an automatic car is so much easier! And believe me when you hear you've passed you'll feel the best you have ever felt, I sobbed! Good luck and keep going with it I know it's very expensive! but worth it

Thanks Cansu and Tamponlady
Its so stressful its around two years and now my theory is going to be expired in April.
Every time I failed because of silly mistakes. Two times I stalled my car and in so much panic after that.
I can not able to get my confidence again.

I passed on my 4th attempt (I was a nervous wreck behind the wheel - fine now though). You will get there, don't give up, some of us just need a little more practise before it all falls into place. You are doing great to have got this far, you will conquer this when you are ready.Smile

It's a horrible feeling when you pass your driving test Flowers I'm another one who took three goes to pass so I would say keep going! Sounds like you were super close to passing this time round so makes sense to stick with a manual?

It took me 7 attempts!! I was so desperate to pass and each test got more anxious that I kept doing stupid things!! I Always failed on some major that you would never be stupid enough to do in real life Blush anyway I got there in the end,and so will you! have you tried a different instructor? Before my 7th test I changed from my local instructor to a bsm instructor, made a difference for me think you can get a bit too comfortable and chatty with the familiar instructor.
