To tell our daughter that it's gonna be tough being female?

So hubby tells DD that she can be anything she wants to be, which I fully support, (this comes about after watching the The Voice and she asks why only one girl judge?) I say it's tough being female in a male dominated world. AIBU or just being realistic about the world we live in? He was mad with me cause in my experience it is harder to achieve as a woman. I'd rather she knows that or is it better that she thinks nothing but her abilities will get in her way?

It's not inevitable that your DD will have a tougher time because she's a woman. I'm one of those who hasn't ever felt particularly disadvantaged by it. However, an 'I'm all right, Jill' attitude is too complacent - there are many areas where it is tougher as a woman than a man (obv there's a few where the opposite applies too).

My DD is 16 and planning to be an engineer. She's not encountered much sexist crap so far in her charmed existence, but she is well aware that she'll probably come across it in future. Forewarned is forearmed.
