To not make DH dinner tonight?

He's been decorating the spare room all day. Stopped for a couple of hours to take DS to a party with me. Gave me a lie in this morning. Is generally a diamond.

He stared decorating again after the party and we haven't eaten yet. I said I'd make fajitas but it's knocking on ten pm and my appetite has gone. Really don't want to start chopping onions and peppers now, or whenever he finishes. He said he'd shout down when he was twenty minutes from finishing so I could start cooking.

I'm stuck in to the wine now and have had some crisps. I'm done for the day really. WIBU to abandon fajita idea? He'll be disappointed.

Should also say the reason he's working this late into the night is so we can have a nice family day tomorrow.

Well viennas are beef.... But other wise the same. Saltier though and greaser.

I think hotdogs are a mix of beef and pork. Are these viennas beef only?

Hypotenuse · 21/02/2015 22:50

Errr I think hotdogs are about 30% reformed pork.

So what we're dealing with here is beef hotdogs?

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:50

Strictly beef. Horse meat scandal notwithstanding.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/02/2015 22:51

.....is it fried eggs that go with them?

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:51

Having said that you can get chicken viennas. So it's not the beef part which makes them viennas.

Not sure.

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:52

Only1scoop · 21/02/2015 22:52

Blimey boys don't now throw chicken in the mix Grin

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/02/2015 22:53

That does sound nice. I feel reassured for the poor love. Grin

Coumarin · 21/02/2015 22:53

Blimey. I clearly missed the part where you kicked his ladder away and sat cackling downstairs, munching on a Big Mac whilst he swung from the curtain rail, slowly wasting away from malnutrition.

I couldn't be arsed making fajitas at 10pm either. You can have them tomorrow.

Super8 · 21/02/2015 22:54

cross post boys, fish balls sounding interesting. esp the deep fried bit. we had mackreal for dinner chez super tonight, with roast fennel. teens are still freaked out.

Coumarin · 21/02/2015 22:56

Fish balls and viennas. It's a whole new world.

WindMeUpAndLetMeGo · 21/02/2015 22:57

Make the fajitas!! Doesn't take long and you will be hungry once you smell them cooking!!

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 21/02/2015 23:00

I was getting really jealous thinking about those ice cream desserts from the early 80s. Turns out you are on about hot dog sausages!!!!

Super8 · 21/02/2015 23:02

a whole new world of easy dinners when DIY is happening. we have a loft conversion starting next month....trying to avoid the messy bit happening during dd1's as exams. so everyone, a plea, hit me with your best easy...feed people recipies.fish balls, vienna's...come on...let me have it.

BlessedAndGr8fulNoInLaws4Xmas · 21/02/2015 23:04

OP I have no idea why you have come across as nasty ??!!!

How very bizarre people are.

Fwiw , no I would have dipped out of the cooking too . Even if DH had worked all day , my days are equally busy and there is no way on worth I would cook fajitas at ten pm or any other food for that matter.

And I love love love my DH and he loves me and there would have been no issue!

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 23:05

Prawns fried in olive oil with a good squirt of garlic purée, paprika, fry til pink, serve with pitta, Mexican houmus and green salad and stuff it all in the pitta.

Similar vein, chop up chorizo, add oil, raw prawns and into oven for twenty mins, serve on green salad so all the oil runs down and then with lovely crusty bread to mop up.

This is very funny!! Couldn't eat hot dogs/Viennas though, you don't know what you're actually eating

MistressMerryWeather · 21/02/2015 23:10

Blimey. I clearly missed the part where you kicked his ladder away and sat cackling downstairs, munching on a Big Mac whilst he swung from the curtain rail, slowly wasting away from malnutrition.

Bahahaha. :o

uglyswan · 21/02/2015 23:10

Oh god, I could murder a pickled herring right now. A whole school of them.

Super8 · 21/02/2015 23:11

I'm liking that boys...easy and interesting flavours....the teens love prawns and chorizo too, good idea to stick in a pitta.

MistressMerryWeather · 21/02/2015 23:12

Pickled fish of any kind is the DEVIL.

PedantMarina · 21/02/2015 23:14

I'm afraid I just don't get the original judginess of (admittedly, my take on it) when, exactly, is Fajitas-O-clock...

Cos, if so, you could just wait til 1am and make him a kebab (not hilariously far from fajitas). If you really want to stick with traditional times for food.

That said, I do get a bit of "Oh, honey, I'm going to lie about whether I've noticed the time go by".

But, bottom line, he's taking a goodly portion of a day to do something DIY-ey - not exactly LTB stuff. Soz

OMG this is blates a thread from the Viennas Marketing Board.
