To not make DH dinner tonight?

He's been decorating the spare room all day. Stopped for a couple of hours to take DS to a party with me. Gave me a lie in this morning. Is generally a diamond.

He stared decorating again after the party and we haven't eaten yet. I said I'd make fajitas but it's knocking on ten pm and my appetite has gone. Really don't want to start chopping onions and peppers now, or whenever he finishes. He said he'd shout down when he was twenty minutes from finishing so I could start cooking.

I'm stuck in to the wine now and have had some crisps. I'm done for the day really. WIBU to abandon fajita idea? He'll be disappointed.

Should also say the reason he's working this late into the night is so we can have a nice family day tomorrow.

You could have made them in the time you've been whinging on here about not making them Hmm

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:00

He doesn't want them yet. He's going to let me know when he is ready for me to start cooking them.

At which point we are going to have a chat about how amazing Viennas and beans are.....

WorraLiberty · 21/02/2015 22:01

Why are you asking random strangers then, instead of speaking to him about this?

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:02

Just chatting, Worra. That's all.

Gosh this thread has taken a serious turn. Has op revealed something terrible in a post I missed and still cannot see?

Should have put "lighthearted" in your title, op Grin

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:05

I machine-gun people who write "light hearted" in their posts only in my mind so I can't.

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 21/02/2015 22:07

Well, now that's a problem I do too

CurlyWurlyCake · 21/02/2015 22:11

What are/is viennas?

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:14

Beef frankfurters. Junk food, but delish. You boil them.

Anyway, I've just totally won this particular marital skirmish.

Went up for a wee. He was all "hi babes, is it nine o clock yet?" which was BLATES a disingenuous lie as he looked shifty. Translation was "oh shit, I know it's super late but I've been in the zone decorating and didn't want to come down, will head this off at the pass by pretending I don't know what the time is".

I said "it's gone ten love." He's all "IS IT?" And I'm saying "yes, do you think it's a bit late for fajitas?" He said yes and I said shall I knock you up some viennas and eggs. He said yes please, are you sure you don't mind cooking as it's so late. To which I graciously said I didn't mind. Cue profuse thanks and promise of a foot tickle when he comes down.

Result.

I would just make it. You can reheat the fling stiff the next day and it's wuite no e if you have left overs [disclaimer - I use a jamie Oliver recipe so not sure if it's the same with packet stuff]. I always cook for DH if he's been working late. He does the same for me - well, not cooking as he can't really cook bit he'll put himself out for me or make a sandwich to the best of his ability. That's just being nice really

Meloria · 21/02/2015 22:23

"BLATES"? I'm with Worra on this one. You sound like a twunt.

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:24

Well, you sound like a prick meloria. Guess we shouldn't go for drinks together.

OP posts:
ouryve · 21/02/2015 22:24

Why couldn't you just cook earlier, he wash his hands, spend 10 minutes eating and then go back to work? DH does that, if he's working on something.

I don't get why it has to be so complicated? Too complicated to be lighthearted.

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:27

He wouldn't do that, ouryve. He wouldn't eat til he's finished.

Oh come on, this is Mumsnet, surely I'm not the only one concerned that the OP says she's putting the chicken back in the freezer?Blush

Hypotenuse · 21/02/2015 22:32

I'm loving the massive personal attacks for using the word blates. Not an overreaction at all. Hmm

This is clearly a very serious situation for some, and YABU to dare to chat about late night Mexican food on t'internet in a light hearted manner, OP. For fucks sake will no-one think of the poor starving man who couldn't possibly have knocked up his own food on account of his penis being in the way!

ChipDip · 21/02/2015 22:33

You sound lazy. While pissing yourself and cba while he's been busy doing something for you both. You could have done the prep earlier. Anyway he seems like a good DH.

Super8 · 21/02/2015 22:34

boys,
you guys sound so sweet, a sensible outcome to the end of a busy day. everyone happy.. enjoy your family time tomorrow.

pollypocket123 · 21/02/2015 22:35

What are Viennas?! YANBU btw...cheese and toast or similiar now, fajitas tomorrow.

Only1scoop · 21/02/2015 22:35

'This means nothing to me oooooooV Viennaaaaasssss'

Whatever they are....

Op's favourite word of the night....

Enjoy

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:35

It had not defrosted Tempus!!! Please rest easy.

ChipDip, I really have to take issue with your statement. I haven't pissed myself and the last time I did I was on a trampoline.

OP posts:
ChipDip · 21/02/2015 22:36

Ok fair enoughGrin

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/02/2015 22:36

It's nothing to do with him having a penis - it's to do with the fact that he had been upstairs decorating whilst, by her own admission, the OP had been sitting downstairs on the sofa. Hmm

Jesus - if this was a lesbian couple my response would have been exactly the same. It's to do with divisions of labour and just being a nice person.

uglyswan · 21/02/2015 22:38

I'm going to say BLATES at the very next opportunity. Enjoy your viennas!
