To not make DH dinner tonight?

He's been decorating the spare room all day. Stopped for a couple of hours to take DS to a party with me. Gave me a lie in this morning. Is generally a diamond.

He stared decorating again after the party and we haven't eaten yet. I said I'd make fajitas but it's knocking on ten pm and my appetite has gone. Really don't want to start chopping onions and peppers now, or whenever he finishes. He said he'd shout down when he was twenty minutes from finishing so I could start cooking.

I'm stuck in to the wine now and have had some crisps. I'm done for the day really. WIBU to abandon fajita idea? He'll be disappointed.

Should also say the reason he's working this late into the night is so we can have a nice family day tomorrow.

Your DH sounds like a very nice man OP.

I liked your post, I don't think you sound mean at all. At least you offered to make him something, I think that's only polite.

But wtf are viennas? boiled frankfurters?

Super8 · 21/02/2015 22:39

lighthearted.

BalloonSlayer · 21/02/2015 22:39

I also want to know - what are Viennas?

Am imagining Viennettas with friend eggs on them, or, what were those dry Mr Kipling things that crumbled into dust which stuck to the roof of your mouth? - Viennese whirls?

uglyswan · 21/02/2015 22:39

Super8, that's a BLATES provocation!

Super8 · 21/02/2015 22:40

This means nothing to me oooooooV Viennaaaaasssss'

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:40

Gob, don't worry. I didn't intend to leave him to starve and indeed he is sitting next to me right now enjoying toast, viennas, eggs and tea. I also found some fish balls which I put on the plate (gefilte fish rolled into balls and deep fried before anyone asks) and he has chocolate raisins to come.

yeah...soz,,,i'm v bored and this thread has been quite entertaining.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/02/2015 22:41

I love Viennese whirls.

I presume viennas are weiners - so hot dogs basically

Namechanger2015 · 21/02/2015 22:41

I like BLATES too.

Hope he is enjoying his Viennas now Smile

What are your plans for family day tomorrow?

Hypotenuse · 21/02/2015 22:41

Oh ok I vote we string her up then for having the audacity to sit down in the evening.

'Divisions of labour' Grin its wallpapering and Mexican food ffs. Simmer down.

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:42

Viennas are smoked beef frankfurters that you boil. Why do people not know about viennas?

uglyswan · 21/02/2015 22:43

Am bored too and supposed to be working. And now I'm hungry. Can I have some of his fish balls ?

Hypotenuse · 21/02/2015 22:44

hotdogs

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:44

Probably park with sand pit in the morning and then another party in the pm, then to friends for takeaway in the evening. DH will get a lie in tomorrow for those worried about him.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/02/2015 22:44

boys - I must say - I want to follow you round the supernarket. You buy all the things that I peer at and wonder who purchases...... Not eggs or tea obviously but these Vienna things (which I'm assuming are the hotdogs) and the gefilte fish

Please tell me you also buy battenburg cake and gentleman's relish Grin

Super8 · 21/02/2015 22:45

jeasus, where did fish balls come into it.
i love I love Viennese whirls. very fattening though.

Only1scoop · 21/02/2015 22:46

Op are you partial to a pickled herring or is that just for Sundays?

RJnomore · 21/02/2015 22:46

Can someone confirm viennas are hot dogs?

The least you get after a day decorating round here is a fish supper.

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:46

The answer to that Gob, is the Ashkenazi Jews. The Jews buy gefilte fish and viennas. Probably battenburg too, but not this particular Jew.

Only1scoop · 21/02/2015 22:48

About 90 percent soya and 10 percent abattoir sweepings

RJnomore · 21/02/2015 22:48

Yes they are boys.

Despite my friends brother who was convinced they were vegetarian Grin

Boysclothes · 21/02/2015 22:48

DH once ate an entire jar of pickled herring in the middle of the Australian desert. He then DRANK THE VINEGAR. In 43 degree heat. The jar was clean. I was honestly amazed.
