To think Nick name drop Grimshaw's time is up on the Breakfast Show

I don't think he deserves the Radio 1 breakfast slot any more.

He's always tried, doesn't get enough sleep, seems bored of his job and is constantly name dropping his exclusive celebrity friends. I was rooting for him when he started, but I've had enough now.

Also, I can't listen to that flippin fan fare music at the beginning off every show. I'm driving when it comes on.

I can remember when chris moyles was on our local radio station as a dj back in the early nineties and got the job of interviewing semi famous pop stars on his evening show. He was a knob even back then. I had a bit of a shock when he turned up on Radio 1 (think he had a stint at capital before that too)

Mind you I didn't mind his radio 1 breakfast show, far better than grimmy.

As for target audience, well, ds 15 and dd1 12 only listen to the radio in the car as both prefer you tube but ds will listen to Radio 4 or radio 5 podcasts to help get him off to sleep at night.

I absolutely refuse to listen to Radio 2.The music puts me off. It reminds me of my mother Grin

I am glad my school run in he car involves precisely 5 minutes of Grimmers, I think that's about the right amount.

ImTakingTheEssence · 21/02/2015 21:28

He hurts my ears as does fern cotton its like a punishment listening to them. I turn it down when there talking and up again for the music.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 21:31

I have no idea what Fearne cotton is talking about most of the time and the Live Lounge seems to be people murdering other peoples' songs. Confused

5dogsgoswimming · 21/02/2015 21:31

Well I like nick grimshaw. I'm late 20s. Loved moyles back in the day and I generally love radio 2, vine, mayo and Graham Norton but I think Chris evans is aimed at maybe the over 40s so I agree there's no one catering in the middle

Catmint · 21/02/2015 21:32

I prefer Grimmy to Moyles, who was a bully.

I spend my commutes constantly turning over between radios 1-4.

I don't mind a bit of Grimmy chit chat when Chris Evans is getting too unbearable, but then some awful row or awful feature such as caller delete or showbot comes on and I switch to r4. But if John Humphreys comes on, or anything depressing then I have to switch to r3.

I'm getting quite attached to essential classics.

On the way home it's the same story.

I also think Scott Mills should have got the show, he's a very likeable person.

StrawberryTallCake · 21/02/2015 21:33

Another vote for Greg James - rage against the answer machine is one of my favourite mid-week moments.

However the Nix Tape 9-10 on Friday morning is his redeeming feature in all ways for my late 90's R&B loving secret personality.

GokTwo · 21/02/2015 21:33

DW and I adore Grimmy! We hated Chris Moyles and his little gang of sycophants. I think he has a great style, he's never nasty to people and he gets good guests. Clearly at 45 and 52 we are not the target audience, we listen to radio 4 the rest of the day, but he's nice to wake up to.

StrawberryTallCake · 21/02/2015 21:34

And apologies but Fearne Cotton upsets me greatly. It's as if she feels we owe her for being on the radio?? Come on lady entertain me!!!

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 21:36

Fearne is Holly Willoughby's best mate. Enough said.

GokTwo · 21/02/2015 21:40

I still remember when Chris Moyles used to say that Nicola Roberts was the ugly ginger one in Girls' Aloud. Nasty bullying person.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/02/2015 21:40

Fearne's weird accent kills me . She pronounces words in the oddest way.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 21:44

I can barely remember Girls Aloud, are they still around?

RedKilledLucyBeale · 21/02/2015 21:55

call or Delete is just crap. How stupid is his mate Colette, she pretends to fall for it every single time. Although Matt Willis phoning Emma was Shock

And don't get me started on Fearne Cotton. I'm totally amazed she has any kind of career.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 21:59

I heard the one where Ellie Goulding rang Dougie McBusted and told him Johnny Depp was going round to see him. Felt proper sorry for Dougie. Sad

Coumarin · 21/02/2015 22:14

What is Call or Delete? What happens?

Never listened to NG's breakfast show as he gets in my nip end whenever he's on tv.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 22:20

The 'sleb' comes in and gets their mobile phone out. They scroll down their contacts and Grimmers shouts 'stop'. Whoever they land on they have to call them and prank them or delete them. With 'hilarious' results....

ChristyMooreRocks · 21/02/2015 22:45

I always think that Scott Mills and I could be best friends. Me, him and Jennifer Lawrence would go out on the town, get rip roaring leathered and have the best time ever!

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 22:46

In his crab outfit Christy? Grin

ChristyMooreRocks · 21/02/2015 23:05

Of course!

zombiesheep · 21/02/2015 23:17

PrincessOfChina I am 20 and listen to the radio in my car all the time considering I commute two hours a day if not more.

I used to really like Nick Grimshaw but he gets on my nerves now. What made me realise this more is when Scott Mills stood in for him this week, especially with ant and dec, he was lovely and it was a joy to listen to.

Nicks umming and aahing and him plugging all of his celeb friends really irritates me and I turn over as soon as call or delete or showquizness comes on.

I love love love Greg James however, he is my favourite! I could listen to him all day. Scott Mills a close second. Fearne plays all the music I detest.

Let's hope Nicks time is up soon.

Coumarin · 21/02/2015 23:17

Ah I see. Presumably it's always 'call'. Delete would be shit radio wouldn't it. What if they land on their Mum?

I hate pranks.

zombiesheep · 21/02/2015 23:19

Oh and I hated Chris Moyles! Can't believe people are admitting to liking him. Nasty bully who loves the sound of his own voice.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/02/2015 23:30

Awww "Mark and Lard" Grin

I couldn't abide Zoe Ball, she was on once eating a sausage sandwich (she said so) .
