To think Nick name drop Grimshaw's time is up on the Breakfast Show

I don't think he deserves the Radio 1 breakfast slot any more.

He's always tried, doesn't get enough sleep, seems bored of his job and is constantly name dropping his exclusive celebrity friends. I was rooting for him when he started, but I've had enough now.

Also, I can't listen to that flippin fan fare music at the beginning off every show. I'm driving when it comes on.

I switched over to radio 4 when mark and lard left and have been listening to the today programme ever since.

Not as old as that makes me sound...

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 10:27

Awww leave my lovely Greg James alone. Sad He's not an old fogey.

MrsSippy · 21/02/2015 10:28

I know I am not the kind of old bag that BBC1 want listening to them, but I think that they need to realise that most people stuck with what they know, so people around my age (40s) ARE their audience, and they should maybe look a why young people are listening to commercial radio and try and replicate that on a new channel (they seem to start them all the while, why not one that will actually be listened to??)

I loved Moyles and his team, first thing in the morning it was funny and warm, not jarring and silly like Grimmy.

Inkanta · 21/02/2015 10:33

'Maybe they think that all the yoof are into sleb culture and that's why Grimmy got the gig. If so, I think that's pretty insulting for youngsters.'

Yeah.

I havent listened to Radio 1 in the mornings since Simon Mayo stopped doing it. which google tells me that he did for five years from 1988.

threepiecesuite · 21/02/2015 10:34

I got a bit over invested in the Chris Moyles show, with all the crew. It was like hanging out with my actual friends. I miss them!

What's Dom, Dave and co doing now? I don't listen to R1, are they still on?

I used to like Sara Cox in the mornings too

SoupDragon · 21/02/2015 10:37

I did prefer Chris Moyles but his nasty sexist side really began to grate. I guess I liked his Team rather than him.

Scott Mills is wonderful. I must start listening to Innuendo Bingo again.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/02/2015 10:37

I hated Chris Moyles. Talked too much. Didn't play enough music. And got away with normalising the use of the word 'gay' to mean 'rubbish'. Arrogant, nasty piece of work. (My opinion obviously)

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 21/02/2015 10:40

Stopped listening when Moyles went. They made a huge mistake getting rid of them all. Grimshaw is full of his own self importance.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 10:40

I have the Parody Album CD somewhere-I may have to dig it out. 'Lorry Driver' anyone? Grin

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 21/02/2015 10:46

'Dogs don't kill people, rabbits do' by Mouldy Looking Stain Grin I still like to listen to Stanta at Christmas. Sigh. Bring back Moylesy!

TheXxed · 21/02/2015 10:47

I am 25 and I don't think I have ever listened to Radio 1, there are a few music blogs which I follow and find my new music there then make my own playlists to listen to.

MsJupiter · 21/02/2015 11:04

I hated the idea of NGrimshaw but hate commercial radio more (and find 6Music too laid back in the morning, I need a bit of get up and go) so I kept R1 on and to my surprise NG has really grown on me.

I am not his target demographic but DS seems to enjoy it too and our average age is 20, so I don't feel too bad about them failing to get rid of me.

Titsalinabumsquash · 21/02/2015 11:05

I like Grimmy, I want him to stay! Although I'd listen if either Gregg James or Scott Mills did it too, I wasn't a fan of Moyles.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 11:07

I would love to wake up to Greg James every morning. Smile

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 11:09

Oh and I may as well confess I wasted a couple of hours the other week watching videos on You Tube of Innuendo Bingo. It never gets old, and respect for Scott Mills doing the Strictly Tour and dressing in that crab outfit. Grin

ChristyMooreRocks · 21/02/2015 11:14

Yep, it mistake getting rid of the moyles crew - not even necessarily moyles himself but Dominic, Aled, Carrie/Tina, Rachel, Dave - it was truly hilarious!

And Dominic Byrne's 'No Hair' parody was literally one of the funniest things I have ever heard on the radio! Apparently he is doing public speaking seminars now?

Nick Grimshaw is just crap and more importantly his cronies are really crap - so unfunny and just like teenages trying to be cool. And he goes on about 'Call or Delete' as if it was the funniest feature ever, when actually its mostly shite.

I'm back at work in a few weeks and I might be tuning in to Emma and Jamie on Heart, which DH thinks is brilliant....?

Behooven · 21/02/2015 11:15

I like Chris Evans on R2 for going to work. Scott Mills is lovely, innuendo bingo is proper laugh out loud stuff. Apart from these I mostly stick to R5 live, but I miss Victoria Derbyshire and Peter ? who seem to have been moved on.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 21/02/2015 11:17

I haven't listened to R1 for ages. Im mid 30's.

Did switch to R2 for a bit, but got bored.

Then onto Absolute (tried normal then 90's and finally Classic Rock), but it seemed to be all about men who had physical jobs (not sure if that was because it was sponsered by Wicks).

Then we switched to Kerrang, but when that stopped broadcasting outside London we had to find another station so now its TeamRock.

There are no adverts on TeamRock, but the music can be a bit heavy. Although I have got used to that and now actually prefer the slightly heavier stuff than what I used to. Now even if Kerrang came back I dont think I would switch back.

ChristyMooreRocks · 21/02/2015 11:18

The should totally get Scott in the mornings, although I am starting to find the whole Chris Stark thing a bit contrived now. But yes, I properly laugh out loud at lots of innuendo bingo!

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 21/02/2015 11:18

Also what has happened to Chris Moyles? He seems to have disappeared.

MetallicBeige · 21/02/2015 11:19

Nick Grimshaw is Northern, he's from glamorous Oldham. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 11:25

The Innuendo Bingo clips are hilarious. Spitting water all over each other. What's not to like? Plus he gets some proper celebs in to do it.

wowfudge · 21/02/2015 11:27

Hmm - I'm definitely not in my 60s and I like Radio 2. I went off Radio 1 when annoying, unfunny, arrogant Chris Moyles took over the breakfast show. I found his 'humour' offensive on occasion. Switched over to Radio 2 and I love Chris Evans on the radio in the mornings.

My impression of Grimmy is that he's full of himself. Not appealing at all.

LoadsaBlusher · 21/02/2015 11:39

I find Nick Grimshaw annoying too, drones on too much , I turn over when there's too much chat.
I only listen to Radio 1 when it's the Dance shows on a Friday or Saturday night.
During the week on school run or work drive its local commercial radio , I like to hear the adverts to see what happening in the local area and if any local DIY places have good deals Grin
I'm early thirties.
Didn't like Moyles either , felt like his team were just hanging on his every word , laughing along at stuff that wasn't even funny ...
