To think Nick name drop Grimshaw's time is up on the Breakfast Show

I don't think he deserves the Radio 1 breakfast slot any more.

He's always tried, doesn't get enough sleep, seems bored of his job and is constantly name dropping his exclusive celebrity friends. I was rooting for him when he started, but I've had enough now.

Also, I can't listen to that flippin fan fare music at the beginning off every show. I'm driving when it comes on.

I'm up for a radio 1.5. Music from Radio 1 with the chat from 2.

Nick Grimshaw is a lot better than he was at the beginning. Still should have been Scott Mills though.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 21/02/2015 18:17

For Chris Moyles fans, he is doing Celebrity Bake off this year for comic Relief, he's either on next week or week after.
He's lost a lot of weight, is almost unrecognisable now!

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:20

Ooh is he Alfie, thanks for that I will definitely watch. YY to him being a shadow of his former self. Smile

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/02/2015 18:20

I loved Chris Moyles - but didn't it all go very wrong between him and comedy dave?

I do listen to Nick G as the children like him - I like Greg - especially after his blank space video with Taylor Swift.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:25

I do remember reading something about CM getting quite close to Dave's ex wife MrsC. Then he was supposed to be going out with Mel C, and recently he has been linked to someone else I have never heard of.

Greg James' Wrecking Ball parody was a triumph. Grin

Ilovefluffysheep · 21/02/2015 18:25

Loved Chris Moyles and his team, was gutted when they left. Apparently Chris and comedy Dave had a massive falling out and no longer speak.

Can't stand Grimmy, hate call or delete and show bot. Unfortunately though, I like the music on Radio 1 and haven't found anything else that comes close to it music wise. Radio 2 is sometimes on at work and the music just seems so old and crap!

Really wish they'd given the breakfast show to Scott Mills, or even Greg James. Find Scott hilarious.

I got tickets to Radio 1's big weekend in 2012 when it was in London. What really surprised me was that it wasn't full of youngsters, and the target audience age, there seemed to be more people my age and older.

RedKilledLucyBeale · 21/02/2015 18:30

Very odd going on between Chris Moyles and dave. They'd been friends for years. P
I know Aled is still on radio 1 but have no idea what the rest are doing.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:34

Does anyone remember when CM and CD did the World Cup alternative commentary? It was genius, and so funny. They hardly mentioned the footy and were ordering pizzas. Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/02/2015 18:36

They were hilarious - and when they did the 72 hours or whatever show - that was amazing.

Yes sparkling - I do like to keep up with Chris' love life via the daily mail Blush

He had a week off when him and his ex spit up - that was sad.

I also read that he is very well set up financially as got royalties on all the musical link thingies he wrote for the show when he was on it. (forgets about the tax thing)

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:37

Oh that 72 hours was great I couldn't stop listening. Grin

I walked into a pub Chris Moyles was in years ago when he was still on the breakfast show and he had a real air of nastiness. Made my friend and I feel quite uneasy. We'd recognised him but had no intention of speaking to him/trying to get an autograph etc as we're not really into celeb culture but when I made eye contact he gave me a look that actually made me feel quite threatened. Made me feel uneasy for a while afterwards.

I've heard he burned quite a few bridges bullying people on his way up and thats why he's in the wilderness now, not surprised at all.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:44

Perhaps he just wanted a quiet drink, I think it must be hard for slebs being out and about not knowing if they are going to get asked for an autograph or a photo at any minute.

Or maybe he is vv nasty IRL. We don't know for sure.

I don't think he's 'in the wilderness' now TBH. It doesn't seem like it.

I miss bam bam and street boy on kiss showing my age

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/02/2015 18:50

I don't think Chris needs to work financially so just doesn't bother unless it is something he is really interested in.

He really suffered from the media who seemed to hate the fact he was overweight and succesful - they accused him of all sorts of horrid stuff.

I think he's still friendly with Aled and I loved him.

I liked also how they'd rate guests and judge them on how they treated the backstage people. Remember they said David Walliams was guilty of being nice on the radio but pretty vile behind the scenes.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:52

Aww forgotten about Aled. he was a love.

YY to rate the guests-brilliant. Grin

RedKilledLucyBeale · 21/02/2015 18:54

I loved when he banned Katie Price because she turned up late.

lovelychops · 21/02/2015 18:55

Had the misfortune to be at a party with Chris Moyles once. He's behaviour to women (whilst his girlfriend was there) was vile.
Was already under the impression he was an arrogant twat and it just confirmed my suspicions.
As for Nick grimshaw, no idea. I stopped listening to radio one the day Mark and lard left.
6 music all the way these days.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 18:56

I remember him banning KP too. Grin

SoupDragon · 21/02/2015 18:57

I remember that too.

Capricorn76 · 21/02/2015 18:57

I don't care if he thought I might ask him for an autograph, I had no intention of approaching him so there was no need for the rudeness and if he thinks everyone's excited by people who play other people's records for a living, he needs to get over himself. Plus I've met way more famous people than him as part of an old job and all (apart from Kylie who was a bit strange) were okay.

I guess you really had to be there. Maybe it's just me but I don't normally threateningly stare at someone who caught my eye as they're walking into a pub. Seriously the man is not nice.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 19:00

If i ever get to meet and talk to CM I will make a decision I guess.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/02/2015 19:04

Yes, me too Sparkling. [Founder members of mn Chris Moyles fan club] Wink

Getorf loved him too I remember - I wish she still posted too.

catslave · 21/02/2015 19:16

Can't bear Nick Grimshaw - voice like a mosquito. Chris Moyles was an arse - total rip off of Chris Evans and the whole' surround myself with giggling sycophants' thing. Another R1 DJ I can't stand is the Welsh bloke (Huw Something?), God, he's dull.

I'd prefer Greg James also. At least he has a normal sense of humour.

Thank gawd for digital radio, anyway - I listen to XfM and LBC aka let's laugh at the shouty people (even though I moved out of London seven years ago and miss it)

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2015 19:27

Chris Moyles Quiz Night was hilarious. i miss that.
