to not let my DD buy this bikini?

Today was DD1's 11th birthday and she received some money from her great aunt who only had sons and nephews and DDs are her only great nieces so she spoils them a little bit.

In her school there is a trend with a very expensive brand of bikini's called Triangl bikinis. DD has decided she wants to buy one. I told her maybe but I didn't want to upset her on her birthday so I will discuss it with her later after having a nice chat with you ladies. She would like this bikini here in the smallest size available.

I don't want her to get it for a few reasons. Firstly, she's small for her age and I'm still not sure the smallest size would fir her at a size 4 adults? Also, she is too young to be buying designer clothes that will probably get ruined. Finally, it is just too expensive IMO at $89 (not sure how much in £££s).

DH thinks I'm being unreasonable and that her money can be spent on whatever she wants. What do you guys think??

I agree with the majority, too sexy and too adult. Also my dd is 10, tall and very slender, no way would she fit even the size 4, it would literally fall off her. At 11 I had my first slightly more grown up bikini, which I remember very fondly, after years of swimsuits or almost tankini type ones with a cropped top and skirted bottoms (this was the early to mid 70s). Mine had roughly triangle cups, a halter neck, and smaller bottoms than I'd had before, (but I had to alter the cups as they had darting and I was flat chested!). It was a Ladybird bikini, so from the children's range, but just that little bit less child like in style. I remember every detail of my bright yellow bikini, so i sympathise with your dd, but I think a more simple shape, without shaped underwired cups, and less of a page three vibe, would be much better for a child. No gaps between the cups at the front if its a triangle, and bottoms that aren't too tiny. Tbh I would try and get her to buy a different "cool" garment entirely.

I was ready to say 'It's just a bikini, just let her buy it...' until I seen them. I love fashion, I don't mind a lot of things young girls wear, it's not long ago I was wearing the same, but these bikini's - no way!
The first couple have an Agent Provocateur feel about them, they are sexy, glamour style bikinis. So inappropriate. Just say no!

Sometimes I wonder if posts like this are stealth promos from the brands in question.

DD has a couple of these in various colours and styles! They are very popular in the youtube/beauty guru world. She loves them and they are very well made from a sort of neoprene/wetsuit material. However she is 16 and I'm not sure I would have let her wear one when she was 11, maybe if it was in a more subdued colour I would have considered it. Also with this particular style, it is one of those bikinis that you do kind of need something to fill the top or else it would look a bit odd.

Just to clear up earlier I said 'up top' because it means the same as bosoms, breasts etc and yeah an 12 year old would get a sleazy older guy eyeing her up in that someone else mentioned Gary Glitter earlier! By sleazy and older I also mean 17 upwards.
