Cleaner stealing my loo roll!

PebbleTTC · 20/02/2015 20:59

I think my cleaner is stealing loo roll. Ive noticed it for a few weeks and i counted them today, there were 2 full rolls missing. Should I say something or just leave it. I'm just concerned that she could be taking other things too. I said it to my DH and he thinks we should just leave it. I said it to my weird friend and she thinks i should put chilli powder on a roll the next time!!!

Truthfully, I would always always always have cameras in my home if I had someone coming into it when I wasn't there.

Bettercallsaul1 · 20/02/2015 22:06

Are you going to give notice or payment in loo?

iago · 20/02/2015 22:10

Before getting rid, if the cleaner is OK in all other respects, I would give the cleaner a big pack of loo roll on the pretext that it was on a 2 for 1 and you had nowhere to store it. You wondered if s/he could make use of it? (Cleaner may take hint) Thereafter, monitor loo roll usage assiduously and challenge cleaner if rolls go missing.
Cleaning with loo roll?? It is designed to dissolve on contact with water and makes one hell of a mess if you try to wipe up anything liquid with it.

Bettercallsaul1 · 20/02/2015 22:14

Maybe roll with it this time but monitor for the future?

Frankie2015 · 20/02/2015 22:15

If she can steal loo roll now it can easily escalate to other things. Sack her quick

iago · 20/02/2015 22:15

Bettercallsaul1 - funny!! Missed it.

PebbleTTC · 20/02/2015 22:17

I think she has to go, I'll go to Tesco tomorrow and see if there are any notices on the board

Just lowering the tone as usual, Iago. Grin

Seriouslyffs · 20/02/2015 22:20

My cleaner brings supplies with herBlush

iago · 20/02/2015 22:22

Actually, I may have been taking this thread too seriously. I see loo rolls and I see my puppies running off with them. (Have Hearing Dog puppies, so quite a few!) So I do not automatically associate loo rolls with human theft but have missed some of the puns.

PebbleTTC · 20/02/2015 22:26

I do think it's serious, I just wonder what else could she be taking, we save coins in a large vodka bottle, who is to say she isn't taking from that!

Quite right to take a strict approach - once U bend to this sort of thing, who knows what's next?

peggyundercrackers · 20/02/2015 22:34

I would worry about other things going missing that you haven't noticed yet. I couldn't keep her, she would need to go.

Bettercallsaul1 · 20/02/2015 22:36

She's not privy to any safe combinations, is she?

PebbleTTC · 20/02/2015 22:38

I wish I was rich enough to have a safe!

I'd lock the soft stuff away and put out Izal when she's coming

VioletMoon4683 · 20/02/2015 22:42

I would also wonder what else was going

However as a young person I twice stole loo roll from a pub. I'm as trustworthy as they get and quite surprised myself.

julker · 20/02/2015 22:44

If one has gone from each bathroom could it be that she is putting new rolls out ready for use?

Bettercallsaul1 · 20/02/2015 22:47

Good suggestion there, member - take a hard line!

BallsforEarrings · 20/02/2015 22:55

Why don't you hide the toilet roll that is out before she comes (as if you ran out) but leave the spare ones in the package - after counting them (and put ithem back on the rolls after!) She can't get away with taking it out othe packaging surely! Then you know!!

MistressDeeCee · 21/02/2015 01:29

She's taking what doesn't belong to her so Id say she has to go. Your trust has gone, and thats that really.

flippityflip · 21/02/2015 02:10

If this is the only thing and she's otherwise v good could she be using it to clean the bathroom?I have seen this being done before - seems like a bit of a waste to me but a friend of mine insists it is the only hygienic way to clean a toilet!

AcrossthePond55 · 21/02/2015 03:41

Put a post-it note on the package with the number of rolls written on it. See if any goes missing once she knows you're 'counting'.

TheMaddHugger · 21/02/2015 04:59

steff13
Maybe your husband is hiding it to try to convince you that you need cameras. wink

Lol, I was thinking the same thing

PastPerfect · 21/02/2015 05:28

Just say you've noticed that you're getting through an awful lot of loo roll and is she using it for cleaning or something else? The look on her face will give her away
