Cleaner stealing my loo roll!

PebbleTTC · 20/02/2015 20:59

I think my cleaner is stealing loo roll. Ive noticed it for a few weeks and i counted them today, there were 2 full rolls missing. Should I say something or just leave it. I'm just concerned that she could be taking other things too. I said it to my DH and he thinks we should just leave it. I said it to my weird friend and she thinks i should put chilli powder on a roll the next time!!!

am I the only one who is amazed someone knows how many loo rolls they have in the cupboard? I have no idea, just buy some when I see we only have a couple left or the kids tell me we are running short. We seem to get through masses, but no cleaner to steal it unfortunately. Send her to my house she can knick as many rolls as she likes if she does my housework Grin

Take a sharpie pen and number your cloths and number the loo roll. Bet it stops.

Annietheacrobat · 21/02/2015 07:38

Interesting OP. We're in a similar situation with our cleaner in that our kitchen cleaner (ie flash spray) went missing on several occasions.

There is no way that she used an entire bottle each time (and no empty bottle in bin)- and TBH I think she is meant to use her own supplies.

I ended up writing our house number in marker pen on the bottle and no missing spray since. The trust has gone though and we probably should get rid.Hmm

I would hate this because as everyone says, yes you will always be suspicious.

I would pathetically hide ALL the toilet rolls somewhere when she cleans. Yes this is a pain but she will know from this that you know she is nicking it and you are watching her.

However, in the long run I would get rid of her because she may well move on to something else and you might not discover what until she is long gone.

CatThiefKeith · 21/02/2015 08:16

Could you do this?

A lot of good ideas here to flush her out, OP.

AmserGwin · 21/02/2015 09:08

I would ask her if she's using toilet roll to clean as you seem to go through a lot when she's here. Then you are letting her know you are on to her, without actually accusing her. Then see if it stops. I wouldn't want someone like that having a key/free access to my house though.

thegreylady · 21/02/2015 10:02

I would number the rolls in felt tip. Tell her you are monitoring as you seem to go through so many.

Jengnr · 21/02/2015 10:04

I had this with our cleaner and bin bags. I wasn't 100% but pretty certain. Anyway I just asked if she'd moved them somewhere because I couldn't find them.

Anyway she's either stopped moving them or stopped nicking them. Either way I'm happy tbh.

Bettercallsaul1 · 21/02/2015 10:12

That sounds like a good cistern, grey lady!

toldmywrath · 21/02/2015 15:25

Blimey Saul you're on a run there with that chain of jokes!

Bettercallsaul1 · 21/02/2015 16:46

Couldn't stop myself, told! (Am irresistibly drawn to toilet humour... Grin)

Bettercallsaul1 · 21/02/2015 16:49

Oh - just noticed! Grin Missed that one!

PebbleTTC · 21/02/2015 16:53

I think she just has to go, there is no way you would use 2 full rolls for cleaning. The trust is gone, who knows what else she is at.

Do I keep her while looking for someone else? I can see me taking pictures next Friday before leaving the house!

[grin arf at payment in loo!

ghostland · 21/02/2015 17:50

Why do you pay her in Euros?

DoItTooJulia · 21/02/2015 18:06

With a hot press and euros, op must be in Ireland.

PebbleTTC · 21/02/2015 18:39

Yes, based in Ireland
