To think that Islamic state will cause world war 3

I feel terrified for the future. I believe that the world will reach a point where there will be outright war to stop Islamic state. In the meantime Russia will annexe the Ukraine and much of Eastern Europe.

I am scared that Islamic state will get hold of atomic weapons. There are Muslim extremists with the intelligence to make a nuclear bomb. There are Muslim countries with uranium deposits.

But having said that Shea some of them were more MC, one family explaining how they begged police to help, follow their DD begged for help and it fell on deaf ears, not a poor waif and stray but a girl with a strong and loving family behind her...

ghostyslovesheep · 16/02/2015 20:34

yes but one that is now being challenged and addressed - along with all the other failings

but it's not going to matter soon when there are no decent childrens services left

I'd agree more Just is Kosher meat got as much attention (which is 100% unstunned and always will be) - the focus purely on Halal adds a bit more of a slant to it all

ghostyslovesheep · 16/02/2015 20:39

The police (not know for their left wing leanings) would have rolled out the age old argument of the girl needing to make a complaint herself

I have had this argument so many time with other people - thankfully now things are changing and CSE is taken more seriously (sometimes)

It's a wall many people have faced repeatedly

I've had families in tears -and the police refusing to act as it was 'consensual' ditto SS - this shouldn't be happening now

bialystockandbloom · 16/02/2015 20:43

I think the difficulty with halal meat is because it is being used without consumers being made aware if it, so is being consumed by an unsuspecting public. There would be the same outcry (if that's what you can call it) if kosher meat was being used in the same way, but it isn't - that's the point.

I recently found out that my ds's school (mainstream non-denominational) uses halal meat in school dinners. There is a tiny percentage of Muslim family at the school, so it's almost certainly on cost grounds. There's a huge outcry via the PTA, and it is not a white middle class thing, the school is massively multicultural. The objections are on animal welfare grounds.

soverylucky The Northern Ireland situation should give us hope but we all can clearly see that ISIS is a totally different thing. Their barbarity is not even medieval - I am at a loss to explain how they can do what they do.*

Its also a problem of disaffected, low achieving young men, who see terrorism as a path to glory/riches/fame. Theres a whole issue about these men not being properly motivated to work for success and to be a part of society, but to lie and cheat and abuse the processes that give us the stable society the rest of us enjoy. The drugs industry is also heavily involved.

The same attitude extends towards their treatment of women. I don't just mean restrictions on what women can do - how to explain without being accused of being a bigot - I look very young for my age, and the chances of having verbal abuse shouted at me by a Muslim man is higher than from a white man. Its happened a number of times.

The British are also way more tolerant of racial differences than most other countries of Europe - I've lived in a couple of others. Its now got to the stage that some people will accuse you of being racist for saying someone's nationality, or that they are a foreigner.

babbas · 16/02/2015 20:49

Of course criticising religions isn't a no go. Just read mn and you will see how untrue that is. There is always at least one that bashing islam these days.

Isis were created from a power vacuum which the uk and US engineered when they took us into an illegal war. The ukippers on this thread are failing to understand that their biggest group of victims are other muslims. Sadly muslim deaths are not newsworthy. Hopefully Jordan and Egypt will begin to wipe them out.

ArmyDad · 16/02/2015 20:51

Sheebarabbit,

Had to google what Keynesian economics was. Surely works more for a Falklands type conflict than 10+ years of Iraq/Afghan operations.

ZebraLovesKnitting · 16/02/2015 20:53

Somebody (sorry, can't remember who!) asked why people think the US will start WW3.

I think they will simply because they're the ones who will actually declare it. You can push and push the West (led by US), and they'll put up with a lot. But when the line is crossed they will attack with everything.

At the moment Putin is pushing, trying to provoke a reaction. (I think he's rather a megalomaniac though.) Similarly, islamic State are pushing. Just depends on who pushes too far, thereby elliciting the reaction.

To be absolutely honest, my gut feeling re:Islamic State is that sooner or later they'll attack Jordan, at which point the West & allies will come in and crush them. As attacking Jordan would be the line that has been crossed.

Basically, WW3 will start when the US wants it to.

bialystockandbloom · 16/02/2015 20:54

The other thing about comparisons with Northern Ireland is that there does not seem to be a clear objective from IS, whereas the IRA had a clear aim. What is IS actually hoping to achieve?

TheChandler · 16/02/2015 20:56

I think IS wish to establish sizeable "caliphates" (Muslim states based on strict interpretation of Sharia Law) in one or more parts of the world bialy.

Halal meat (unstunned) will never be banned because if it was then Kosher meat would also have to be banned and that will never ever ever happen

ArmyDad · 16/02/2015 21:01

ZebraLovesKnitting. Bit like staying I started a fight after retaliating when I've been punched isn't it?

MyDarlingClementine · 16/02/2015 21:01

What is IS actually hoping to achieve?

The whole world under Sharia Law.

ZebraLovesKnitting · 16/02/2015 21:06

ArmyDad I think it's more like "somebody's been pinching me all day, then they pinched my nipple and I just lost it and punched them."

bialystockandbloom · 16/02/2015 21:08

What is IS hoping to achieve?

The whole world under Sharia law.*

And that's somehow nothing to do with religion Hmm

hexagon what do you mean by that comment about kosher meat? Nobody has asked for a ban on halal meat, you know that?

TheChandler · 16/02/2015 21:12

HexagonAlley Halal meat (unstunned) will never be banned because if it was then Kosher meat would also have to be banned and that will never ever ever happen

Its been banned in Denmark recently. There are Jewish people in Denmark.

KnittedJimmyChoos · 16/02/2015 21:13

well there is discussion as to whether sharia has anything to do with islam.

Nobody has asked for a ban on halal meat, you know that?

I personally would never want a ban on halal meat, kosher meat, etc I just don't want to eat it without consent and knowledge.

ghostyslovesheep · 16/02/2015 21:15

it has to do with IS's version of Islam

like Westboro Baptist church have their version of Christianity

it doesn't represent every Muslim - just some extreme ones

Lovemycatsandkids · 16/02/2015 21:17

Are there ukippers on this thread? Hmm silly generalisation.

TheChandler agree your post and well put.

I see this as much more of a frightening vision of male domination and supremacy above women and girls.

That's why Isis is so bloody frightening. Yes it's cruelty is unspeakable and aimed at control but make no mistake women and girls are shit on their shoes.

Justanotherlurker · 16/02/2015 21:21

Kosher should also be highlighted just as much as battery farms and 99p eggs, the problem is critising the others doesn't result in accusations of being racist or some such.

i can understand commercial reasons but in the true description of 'a slippery slope' placating a minority without question is definetly apt.

ArmyDad · 16/02/2015 21:21

Zebra, I see what you mean but how many ways can you assay stop pinching me before you need to use physical force. For what it's worth I have spent enough time in the middle east and have seen enough friends injured and worse. I don't want to go back again

KnittedJimmyChoos · 16/02/2015 21:22

frightening vision of male domination and supremacy above women and girls.

yes all those women and children taken as sex slaves Sad Angry

BakewellSlice · 16/02/2015 21:27
