It is just too hard.

I cannot take it upon myself to decide where to flipping go.

What if it's a dump?

There is just too much choice and I get overwhelmed and confused.

So please help me.

I need a greek island.
Not lively. Not clubby. Not 'child friendly' and plastic.
I like a nice beach. I like a nice sit on the front with a glass of plonk. I like a nice pool. I like a bit of culture and a nice evening stroll. Budget is a bit small, so not fancy.

Please please tell me where to go.

I so hate this too.
It's left to me.
I endlessly search, check out tripadvisor
What can we afford?
How does that fit with reviews?
What will everyone think?
What about if it's rubbish?

We loved Kefalonia for all the reasons you describe, but haven't been for more than a decade, so please don't hold it against me if it's been ruined now!

flora717 · 15/02/2015 19:33

Ithaca? (Too quiet maybe).

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 15/02/2015 19:34

Can you stretch to Turkey? Lots of really nice places around Bodrum and cheap too. Gundogan is the name of the place we have been - seems to be the area that Turkish people go themselves.

DuchessDisaster · 15/02/2015 19:35

Hotel Daphne on Samos? Not right on the beach, but they will take you & collect you. Nice pool. Lovely walks up the nightingale valley. Family run.

avocadotoast · 15/02/2015 19:35

I'm the same OP, I can never find anywhere to go.

What about Corfu? There are some lovely little beaches and there's Corfu Town to explore.

Laloue23 · 15/02/2015 19:37

Kefalonia for sure.

AnyFucker · 15/02/2015 19:37

step away from Trip Advisor Smile

I recommend Tsilivi in Zany this

friendly, busy but not silly, loads of nice places to eat and drink, not stupidly expensive, most accommodation close to a child friendly beach, transfer from airport about 15 mins in a taxi

AnyFucker · 15/02/2015 19:38

Zakynthos

fedupandfeelingold · 15/02/2015 19:38

I would recommend rhodes as an island.
We went all inclusive but couldn't find anything great in any okay location we could afford (wanted somewhere we could travel to different places via hire car to explore)
If we returned (liked rhodes) would be looking at Stegna.
Quiet, nice location. Need a car.
Not full of brits.
Or loved Rhodes in the 'Old town '
May be too £ possibly but fab base and culture

flora717 · 15/02/2015 19:38

Kythnos? Well known but not actually a major holiday destination itself as most visitors are on boat tours (so they sod off back to their boats).

MonkeySeeMonkeyDooo · 15/02/2015 19:39

Kefalonia, beautiful.

Branleuse · 15/02/2015 19:39

if your budget is small, then I would book a budget airline, and then book somewhere on airbnb or housetrip. You can read reviews on there.

fedupandfeelingold · 15/02/2015 19:40

Just returned from Spain actually
Andalucia awesome

Annietheacrobat · 15/02/2015 19:40

Naxos, santorini

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/02/2015 19:41

Kefalonia. It's beautiful and quiet

onepotatotwopotato · 15/02/2015 19:41

Kefalonia.

We stayed in Skala a couple of years ago.

Totally lovely, easy to get around by bus or car for a bit of culture, nice stroll from hotel to local tavernas and bars. It's a pebbly beach (I think it might be the same all over the island).

Lambzig · 15/02/2015 19:41

Southern kefalonia, sandy beaches, lovely quiet bits. I like lourdas, kate lips and trapezoid for being chilled out but not too quiet. If you want super quiet (and we did before DC), I like Ithaca and Paxos and Alonissos.

We have been to Greece every year for the past 14, but aren't going this year because DS is too much of a pain to travel with at the moment, so very jealous.

Lambzig · 15/02/2015 19:42

Stupid autocorrect, Lourdas, Katelios and Trapezaki!

StrawberryMojito · 15/02/2015 19:42

Puerto Pollensa in Majorca, lovely and fab restaurants.

StrawberryMojito · 15/02/2015 19:43

Sorry, just seen you wanted Greek Island!

Ubik1 · 15/02/2015 19:44

Santorini

DinoSnores · 15/02/2015 19:45

Does it need to be Greek? Corsica is lovely.

mrssmith79 · 15/02/2015 19:49
