It is just too hard.

I cannot take it upon myself to decide where to flipping go.

What if it's a dump?

There is just too much choice and I get overwhelmed and confused.

So please help me.

I need a greek island.
Not lively. Not clubby. Not 'child friendly' and plastic.
I like a nice beach. I like a nice sit on the front with a glass of plonk. I like a nice pool. I like a bit of culture and a nice evening stroll. Budget is a bit small, so not fancy.

Please please tell me where to go.

We went to Kefalonia/Cephalonia in August and the heat was bearable. We stayed at the Cephalonia Palace, which is small, a bit out of the way but there's a nice beach, a few bars/cafes and fairly regular buses if you don't want a car. We had a car for a few days to explore the beautiful island and also used the bus to Lixouri then the ferry to Argostoli. I'd go back tomorrow and so would the DDs.

And a vote for Thassos here.

Yes kefalonia is lovely. We went to various parts of the island and it wasn't 'clubby' at all. We stayed in the capital argostoli. Loads of lovely places to eat and good place to explore the island from. Fiskardo is the fancy bit, it looked lovely but we didn't stay there as it was more expensive than the other areas.

See, it's easy for me. My mom lives in Florida. My daughter (and grandchild) live in California. This is where my holidays will be in alternating years.

They are not in nice touristy spots. Both have crap sofabeds in 'open plan' homes, so no door to shut when we are sleeping, or not sleeping, as the case may be.

But there will be wine, I can count on that.

Glad to hear all the votes for Kephalonia - just booked a week at the end of June. DS finishes his GCSE's so we're taking advantage of the lower prices. I cannot wait, and keep salivating over the picture of the villa and it's proximity to the beach and taverna......

Rhyl - do they still have the Sun Centre?! My mum lives inland from there and poor old Rhyl really is grim these days. I believe it's one of the most deprived areas in Wales.

alsmutko I am thinking about Thassos in June - where would you recommend? No small kids, just a shy 16 year old girl who has said she doesn't want to go somewhere "with loads of people" but we don't want something too quiet either.

OP I haven't been to Kef for years but it is lovely, we stayed in Lourdas and there were banana trees!

I've recently booked at the Ikos Oceania in Halkidiki.
Reviews look amazing. All inclusive looks fabulous.
I did it through Secret Escapes and it's with Fleetway Travel.
It's here
And the reviews are HERE
Any poor or terrible are from 2013 or earlier (other than 2)
Can't wait!

We thought Thassos was really nice. Stayed in Limenas. Some antiquities to see & good restaurants. Should be very pleasant in June.

alsmutko thanks for the tip re Limenas. We stayed in Panormos in Crete 2 years ago, saw Bali from the road, it looked lovely.

There are so many wonderful places in Greece and we all have our favourites. If anyone is considering the mainland, try Parga or The Pelion which is divine.

Another vote for Lindos Rhodes, beautiful place and fab food.
Also Santorini beautiful and not so touristy ( or wasn't).
I would get the agent to look for you and suggest, then go home google and reviews :)
