When it only takes a minute to mix an egg with some flour and milk?

Grin Derek

if your mum buys ready-made, that's out-lazing the lazy people. the universe will implode Shock

'Anyone who wants to take in flour like that is a bit silly - not a great product, a pancake. Why not just eat the egg which is a healthy natural food.'

Gosh, yes, because it is silly to have a little bit of pleasure in life, isn't it. We should all be wearing home-spun hair shirts too.

We love pancakes. Have them couple of times a month. Can't understand why so many only have them once a year. That's more baffling to me than why someone would buy a packet mix.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 17/02/2015 10:28

oohhh great excitement, the shopping has come, with the pancake mix Grin

i'm so lazy, i don't even go and fetch it myself Wink

I decided to buy some READY MADE PANCAKES!! How's that for lazy? Grin

Joke's on me though. I am a greedy pig and decided to snaffle one and they are foul. Truly foul. So now I have to make some anyway.

but Coco, you'll have to sit with all those...those... OTHER PEOPLE EATING PANCAKES

uggmum · 17/02/2015 11:02

I've gone one better than that. I've bought mini pancakes in a bag with chocolate sauce. They are from M&S and look lovely.

Why did I buy them.....because I wanted to.

SistersOfPercy · 17/02/2015 11:08

wowfudge answered this perfectly in post 2

Because they find it convenient.

HowCanIMissYouIfYouWontGoAway · 17/02/2015 11:11

Where did I put my car keys Grin

PopTarts · 17/02/2015 11:16

I bought some for a quid yesterday.
Dd (6) will make it with DH overlooking her. She'll feel
Oh so independent and we'll have pancakes without shell bits in them
Win win !

Mousefinkle · 17/02/2015 11:24

I can see why people do if you're not going to use the big bag of flour for anything else or don't usually eat eggs so the others would go to waste. We always have flour in because we have pancakes every Sunday for breakfast and I'm quite fond of baking but if the ingredients would go to waste I probably would buy the ready made mix tbh, hate wastage. So it's not always lazy, sometimes it's resourceful Wink.

dougierose · 17/02/2015 12:48

This morning I left the clean, tidy house for 30 minutes. During that time I got a text from 16yo DD saying "We're making pancakes."

I came back home and the kitchen was destroyed.

Ready mix pancake batter is good.

PS Yes, she did do the washing up.

BeautyQueenFromMars · 17/02/2015 12:56

I've not had flour in for years. The last bag got chucked as it had been in the cupboard for 4 years and had weevils in it. So much easier and much less wasteful to buy a bottle of mix for 79p once a year.

Badgerwife · 17/02/2015 13:19

I couldn't care less whether or not people are buying ready-made batter or not, but I'm genuinely surprised that people don't keep eggs and flour at home. Eggs are on my shopping list every week and flour every month. I must have a completely different diet to a lot of people, which is fascinating.

EveBoswell · 17/02/2015 13:23

Thanks to this thread, I realised that I was running out of milk so went to buy a pint this morning.

I was just wondering what to have for supper tonight, came upon this thread again and realised that I'd forgotten that today is Shrove Tuesday.....

Ilovenannyplum · 17/02/2015 13:45

Because I'm lazy! Confused

Bonsoir · 17/02/2015 13:48

We had our Shrove Tuesday pancakes for breakfast. I used a packet mix (which required me to add melted butter, milk and eggs) because it tastes great!

I keep all the ingredients to make batter at home (often bake cakes) but I always have ready mix batter in the cupboard. Takes 15secs to mix up in one bowl and we're ready to go. I can also keep a fair few packets in the cupboard for emergency snacks as we're most likely to be short of milk in the fridge.

pommedeterre · 17/02/2015 14:06

I did today because the baby is grumpy, the five year old had been vomiting all night and the three year old is insane. At the same time I am trying to manage 3 customer crises at work.

Hope to help!
