in my local supermarket they have a breastfeeding room it's fab and I use it a lot..
I visited the same supermarket in a different location I didn't realise that not all branches had this facility. Whilst in there today u asked a member of staff where the breastfeeding room was he very rudely told me to use the disabled toilets! There is a cafe in the supermarket why not recommended that first ?!?
I have messaged said supermarket on twitter saying I felt upset

am i being hormonal and UR?

If you knew there was a cafe, why not go there. Yabu a bit.

angelohsodelight · 07/02/2015 20:05

And why the need to complain via social media? Actually, get a grip.

jemima1988 · 07/02/2015 20:06

Because in my local one there is a breastfeeding room. why pay for a coffee if I don't need to?

How else would I complain? I had a screaming baby?

He probably thought you wanted privacy because you asked for a room rather than just going to the cafe.

hmm I think you are over reacting. I would approach this as an opportunity to educate rather than complain.

InfinitySeven · 07/02/2015 20:07

Presumably they suggested the toilets as you were asking about a private area, and the cafe isn't one. They probably presumed that you'd use the cafe if you wanted too and therefore it wouldn't be a helpful suggestion.

26Point2Miles · 07/02/2015 20:07

Yabu!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 07/02/2015 20:09

Putting it out publicly rather than direct to store is also a bit much. Do you really need an audience for this noncomplaint?

angelohsodelight · 07/02/2015 20:10

If you can type a complaint you can talk to someone after feeding. Who said you had to buy a coffee? Chillax.

Penguito · 07/02/2015 20:11

Yabu! Not everywhere has breast feeding rooms- you knew the cafe was there yet chose not to use it. The poor guy obviously assumed you wanted a bit of privacy.

26Point2Miles · 07/02/2015 20:11

Not all stores have the same facilities!!! We have this at work all the time. Whining that 'other stores have this or that'

NerrSnerr · 07/02/2015 20:11

I imagine that he offered the toilet as you asked for a room. YABU to do it on social media, why not just contact the store direct?

NoTedInTheBed · 07/02/2015 20:12

YABU. As others have said, if you asked for a bf room I'd assume you wanted privacy and not to feed in the public cafe.
Did he really say it rudely, or did you just perceive it that way as you didn't get the answer you expected? Most of us would be guilty of that Wink

ilovesooty · 07/02/2015 20:12

Overreaction. He might have thought you were asking for a non public area. You knew there was a cafe and could gave gone there. You would not BU to suggest a breastfeeding room but complaining seems unnecessary.
How was he "rude"?

jemima1988 · 07/02/2015 20:12

It was a private message not a public one

You're looking to jump on the bandwagon of legitimate complaints but yours isn't. Nothing happened.

What is the problem OP? He suggested a private place to you, which is what you were requesting.

You sound a little precious.

TerryTheGreenHorse · 07/02/2015 20:14

But no one said you had to buy a coffee.

Thought I wouldn't think it would hurt to mention the facilities available in other stores and how useful you find them as feedback.

I would imagine he suggested the loo as you asked for the facilities and that was where the changing thingy is.

ilovesooty · 07/02/2015 20:15

So how was he "rude"?

angelohsodelight · 07/02/2015 20:15

people complaining like this make it difficult for bf women with real issues about where to feed to be heard and taken seriously.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 07/02/2015 20:15

I've never seen a breast feeding room outside John Lewis. I thought they were a bit dated ie from the days when BF was considered something not done in public. There's usually some chairs at the front of the checkouts or, as other PPs have said, the cafe.

He was BU to suggest the disabled toilets though!

AliceInHinterland · 07/02/2015 20:16

I think YANBU - toilets are the last place they should recommend. Grim.
