YANBU. Most people look healthier with a bit o rouge. I look ten times better with my eyebrows on!

ahbollocks · 03/02/2015 21:50

6 mins for a full face here too! (Peppa pig is my friend)

goodasitgets · 03/02/2015 21:55

I couldn't care less whether other people wear it or not
My look varies from "haven't slept for a week" (gym, no makeup) to "don't mess with me" (red lipstick, black winged liner)
I wear makeup every day, love doing it, love trying different looks, watching instagram videos Smile

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 03/02/2015 21:59

I don't care what others do. I have always worn make up since I was about 15. Ever when my kids were tiny I got up early to do did my hair and face every day (took about 20 minutes). I look and feel better if I am groomed.

I have never understood the cry of many on here that with a small baby they can't even get dressed. (And no, I did not have a nanny or any other family help)

FindoGask · 03/02/2015 22:16

My 'look' takes low maintenance to new levels. I give myself a longish buzzcut (number four at the sides, 6 at the top) every couple of weeks. I keep my eyebrows shapely and I'm lucky that they're dark. I do wear moisturiser and lipbalm if I remember to put it in my bag. I put on mascara about twice a year. My hair is black naturally but pretty salt n peppa now; I don't dye it.

I likewise don't care what other people do. I look after myself in plenty of ways but I don't see make-up as being part of self-care, rather a complicated time consuming thing I can't really do anymore - I used to wear quite a bit, but as I've got older (I'm not that old, mid thirties) the same colours don't work like they did and the way I used to do my eyes doesn't suit me any more, and I've grown to like the feeling of no makeup on my face - not worrying if it rains or if I rub my eyes, for example.

specialsubject · 03/02/2015 22:25

slap makes most people look older. It certainly doesn't make much difference, apart from obvious silly red lips and so on.

what a foolish idea. Over a century from being allowed the vote, and women still think like this?

hopefully this is a troll.

Sallystyle · 03/02/2015 22:36

Make up can make a huge difference if you have an uneven skin tone.

I also have massive eyes that look baggy and tired, a bit of eyeliner makes them look deeper and less heavy.

Using foundations takes a lot of redness out of my skin from hormonal acne.

I don't put a lot on and you can still see my many 'flaws' but it does make a big difference in the way I look. Lucky you if make up doesn't make a difference to you.

Once again, it isn't ok to say women look better with make up but it is ok to make these kind of comments about women who do wear it.

It is pretty easy to disagree with the op without coming across bitchy towards the woman who do wear it.

goodasitgets · 03/02/2015 22:36

What's wrong with obvious red lips?
No need to call them silly even if they're not to your taste Hmm
I don't judge people who don't wear makeup and it's nice to have the same courtesy back

wheresthebeach · 03/02/2015 22:37

I look better photo-shopped...

Sallystyle · 03/02/2015 22:38

women not woman.

Sallystyle · 03/02/2015 22:40

It would be so nice wouldn't it ?goodasitgets

The hypocrisy here by some is hilarious! How dare the OP say women look better with make up on??!! Hang on, I know what I will do! I will run down women who do wear it and call them fake and say they look silly with their red lips. Because yeah, that is much better than what the OP said.

reni1 · 03/02/2015 22:44

Oh, I am part of that 99%. I would look better with all of the above. I would also look better if I lost half a stone, had better clothes, grew a couple of inches, alas..

howtodrainyourflagon · 03/02/2015 22:47

I'm live and let live on makeup. Unless it's pearlescent pastel lipstick then I'm not in the let live camp. I don't wear it myself as I like the way I look already. I think the op needs a hobby.

BigRedBall · 03/02/2015 22:48

You should be an Arbonne rep OP! You'd really fit in well with that lot!

goodasitgets · 03/02/2015 22:49

I love that I can change from this to this or this with makeup and hair. Also photoshop but hey :D
Three completely different looks

onedamnthingafteranother · 04/02/2015 01:46

One of the 1% here, makeup brings me out in a red, dry rash.

vrtra · 04/02/2015 04:10

I look like I have a dreadful skin disease when I wear foundation or indeed tinted moisturiser. WE ARE THE 1%!

CountryMummy1 · 04/02/2015 05:12

You'd really disapprove of me OP. My 3 year old DD has NEVER seen me put on make up and never will as I don't wear it. I don't care what anyone thinks I look like. I am 100% comfortable with myself. I don't want my daughter thinking she has to put on a mask to face the world.

nooka · 04/02/2015 06:09

I've only worn make up a very few times and didn't really like the effect, just not me. I wore lipstick when I got married and dh was very surprised. If I want to look awake, healthy etc much better to spend the time and money on better food, more sleep and exercise.

Generally I think most people would look better with less make up, but I do enjoy stage style make up (child of the 80s, New Romantics obviously had some long lasting effect on me).

David Bowie for example obviously had real fun with his make up Grin

ScrambledEggAndToast · 04/02/2015 06:11

YANBU.

bananaramadrama · 04/02/2015 06:12

I imagine that I may well look better with a bit of makeup on if it was applied properly.
Since my makeup skills are akin to those of an artistically challenged chimpanzee; I look a million times better without.

Blueandwhitelover · 04/02/2015 07:46

If only I had the time!

PatterofaMinion · 04/02/2015 08:00

'but it really only take one or two mins max, so can't really ssay don't have the time!'

That isn't true. First of all you have to know what to buy - that takes plentiful research - and then you have to resource this crap product from somewhere, probably getting it wrong a few times before you find something that suits you/doesn't look terribly artificial.

This is almost impossible for someone who hasn't got a clue. I gave up long ago. Oh and you have to factor in the bit where it makes your skin bad and then ruling out certain ingredients by scrutinising the label on everything. Back to square one as the only nice colour has an allergen in it.

Then you have to know how to apply it. I don't and haven't time for watching you tube videos about it or having a consultation in a department store. My mother never wore it so never taught me how or why. I haven't time to go to a friend's house and be indoctrinated by them either.

And then even putting on the four things you mention, well, a couple of minutes wouldn't be enough actually, because mascara always goes wrong, esp with children around you, and moisturiser (which I happen to know messes up my skin big time, and have never needed anyway) takes ages to sink in before you can apply the rest.

I don't even have time to TYPE THIS but I am doing so as I feel resentful at your inaccurate post.

I have to go now and put on actual clothes, bye

PatterofaMinion · 04/02/2015 08:01

Oh and taking it OFF takes a bit longer doesn't it? eh?

sashh · 04/02/2015 08:15

personally I think 99% of all men under 30 look better with long or at least shoulder legnth hair. But I don't expect the world to change just so I have something I like to look at.

I don't care whether anyone looks better with make up, the way I don't care if your trainers cost £10 or £150, it's none of my concern.

The only problem I have with the application or not of make up is students putting it on in class.
