to think sharing explicit anti-meat eating photos on Facebook is completely abhorrent and unnecessary? [Title edited by MNHQ]

I'm sat here eating a naice ham sandwich, scrolling through & minding my own business when WHAM, a picture of a sleeping puppy being carved like a joint of meat on my newsfeed. Poster is an old school friend and a (recent) vegetarian.

I mean seriously, I don't share photos of great big juicy steaks to promote my status as a meat-eater? Hmm

I was talking to a friend this morning about a woman who recently told me that I was "forcing" my DH to not eat meat for his tea that day

As I spoke to my friend I said "I don't care what anyone else eats, if you saw a rabbit in the road and killed it and said you were going to have it for tea I wouldn't care"

So then she said

"Oh no I wouldn't eat a rabbit"

Which made me snigger Grin

I did have another friend who ate no meat or fish but would eat chicken because she "didn't like the look of them"

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think the bit I'm most nervous about is not eating chicken because I love chicken (Including, to my shame, Mcdonalds etc... but cutting down on takeaways can only mean good things for my health!).

Those of you who are vegetarian but your partner isn't (if there is anyone like that), what does your child eat? DD is 9 months old and OH eats meat, he doesn't eat much as it is so I don't think I'll have much luck getting him to cut out meat, but I'm confused about what to do with DD. I'm tempted to let her carry on eating meat in some of her meals (most of them are vegetable based though), and when she's old enough she can decide for herself?

Late to this... Some very interesting reading and some very reasonable veggies / vegans with sensible, educated opinions to boot?

Re the title of the thread, I think that sharing whatever you like on FB is fine, if you don't like what someone is posting just block them.
What gets most people's backs up is feeling they are being preached at or lectured which veggies / vegans do have a reputation for doing.
My dsis is a veggie and a cousin of DW's is vegan and you'd never know it, they get on with. We prepare alternate meals when we see them or choose restaurants where they will have a decent choice it's not hard BUT neither have them have ever criticised us for meat eating or tried to convert us.

Respect the choices of others, you do your thing let other people do theirs.
