just that really. Obv I dont know him IRL so im only judging on what ive seen on TV. He just seems really rude to all his guests on the show... what does everyone else think? Grin

James Martin always seems a bit sweaty to me but that's probably the Blazers and all that butter!!

Marcus hairy hands is a knob extraordinaire and Tom Kitchen with his ringlets makes me want to barf.

I loathe Silent P Stein the most though!

wowfudge · 24/01/2015 15:54

Tom Kitchen doesn't come across as the nurturing type whenever he has trainees and contestants in his kitchen.

iklboo · 24/01/2015 15:55

You never see Marcus Wareing & Roger The Alien from American Dad in the same room (and not because Roger is fictional).

wowfudge · 24/01/2015 15:55

John Burton-Race was the one who was exposed as a nasty bully years ago, IIRC; swearing, shouting and throwing things at his staff.

Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2015 15:58

The cycling stuff always gets a mention on a JM thread, usually in the first few posts.

wowfudge · 24/01/2015 16:00

I'd never seen the cycling stuff before. I must correct my earlier post: there were incidences of bullying at Burton-Races restaurants, but he was not involved - it was some of his senior staff.

squoosh · 24/01/2015 16:04

Burton-Race made a series a few years ago about his and his family's relocation to Cornwall. He came across as a thundercunt of epic proportions.

Frozenchipsareawful · 24/01/2015 16:09

I think its the guests sometimes, often watched and thought ' you dont want to be here, you dont even like cooking! ' he is no worse than that duo on sunday morning on channel four ( names escape me, sorry) go on about football, seem really bossy? They really are annoying. Can only tolerate them if they have a guest on I like!

thornrose · 24/01/2015 16:21

Ha, that would be the dreadful Tim Lovejoy and the sweet but awkward Simon Rimmer. I may have mentioned them upthread. Grin

birchwoods · 24/01/2015 16:23

Completely agree! My DH loves Saturday Kitchen but I've been saying this to him for weeks! He's so rude and patronising to the guests and always tries to make it look like all the other (often Michelin-starred and/or world-renowned) chefs are crap!!

Frozenchipsareawful · 24/01/2015 16:33

James isnt as bad as that Tosser Anthony Worrell Thompson! I read Raw , his autobiog from 2003 , he really is a nob of the first order! He rated James Martin as he thought that ' just someone from ordinary catering college' he was good ( AWT, of course, went to some snobby private college in london. He also slagged off us Essex folk, so am not a fan at all!) thorn, thank you Tim n Simon.

MassaAttack · 24/01/2015 16:34

JBR has something of the sexual deviant about him, and not in a good way.

EatingMyWords · 24/01/2015 16:40

I haven't RTFT but he doesn't seem posh to me Confused

If you mean knob, I quite like him, but I guess he could come across as a bit smug.

charlingx · 24/01/2015 16:52

To me a nob is a not nice person and a knob is a door knob haha, sorry for any confusion

Frozenchipsareawful · 24/01/2015 16:59

They all look half dead on that show most weeks.. Wonder if they start really early then pretend its live, set the oven clock hours ahead!? They used to have ordinary folk on there too who won a quiz to go on there as guests. That stopped, thought that was a shame!

limitedperiodonly · 24/01/2015 17:00

I'm queasy at the idea of finding one of Marcus Wareing's stray arm hairs in my dinner and it that picture he looks like he attacks his beard with the poultry shears.

Lunaballoon · 24/01/2015 17:10

I find his professional Yorkshireman/blokeyness really irritating. I usually have to turn the volume down on SK as it annoys me the way his loud voice drowns out guests, particularly women. Love his food though, so he can't be all bad!

EatingMyWords · 24/01/2015 17:18

Sorry Charling I'm not usually (much) of a pedant but I hate nob being used as knob.
I even put a definition up on urban dictionary Blush Nob is short for nobility, meaning posh person, though nobs are often knobs (slang for penis, meaning horrible person) as well Wink

squoosh · 24/01/2015 17:19

It's a shame you can't really use the term 'nob' anymore. Same with 'wag'.

charlingx · 24/01/2015 17:25

Eating - never heard of nob being used in that context before, makes sense though Grin

me and my dm saw antony wt at ideal home exhb yrs ago - he is v surprisingly hot in the flesh.we ate some pudding he had cooked and went all schoolgirly.

squoosh · 24/01/2015 17:30

'anthony worral thompson is surprisingly hot in the flesh' is the most shocking thing I've ever read on Mumsnet. Hands down.

stareatthetvscreen · 24/01/2015 17:33

haha i was going to post a warning before i typed that :)

miffybun73 · 24/01/2015 17:34

YANBU. Can't stand him.

Frozenchipsareawful · 24/01/2015 17:36

Away hot? Never!
