To think that most people don't like having sex with overhead lights on?

I quite like my body and it's in reasonably good shape. But I would never want to have the overhead lights on while having sex. I prefer soft lighting for obvious reasons.

Am I alone here? Or am I desperately insecure?

I have never given the lighting of the room I'm having sex in any thought whatsoever.

ElectraInExcelsis · 23/01/2015 14:49

Maybe I'm odd!

Lighting also doesn't bother me one iota either.

Nextwednesday · 23/01/2015 14:50

Definitely agree. Too operating theatre and not flattering.

farewellfigure · 23/01/2015 14:52

YANBU. I like all the lights off with maybe a glow from the landing. Bedside light on at the most. But then I am NOT in good shape and wouldn't want to put DH off for life!

ElectraInExcelsis · 23/01/2015 14:53

I also feel that when I'm having sex I kind of go into myself a bit and I can't concentrate with lights full on or if my partner is taking too much.

Mind you, I was the same when I was in labour - wanted lights off and no talking. Maybe there's a connection? Grin

Lighting doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, if anything, I like the full light. I like to see everything :)

SacredHeart · 23/01/2015 14:54

Doesn't bother me - when it's on, it's on. Grin

Fleetfoxes · 23/01/2015 14:55

Yes, for some reason it's so much harder to fake an orgasm when the lights are on . . .

BreconBeBuggered · 23/01/2015 14:56

I'm not a fan, but it's nothing to do with insecurity. It's more that if you're in the missionary position, the glare from the bulb gets in your eyes. Daylight is fine.

invisiblecrown · 23/01/2015 14:56

Why are you faking orgasms? Confused

dementedpixie · 23/01/2015 15:00

We rarely have overhead lights on at all (except in the kitchen) so it would be really weird for them to be on during sex.

Tyzer85 · 23/01/2015 15:01

We have bedside lamps on and we don't hide under the covers either, never have done.

Fleetfoxes · 23/01/2015 15:03

heavy workload, stress, anxiety, depression etc

TRexingInAsda · 23/01/2015 15:05

Meh, I've never thought about it. I wouldn't turn them off if they were on, or the other way around. It's nice to see what's going on I suppose - or if you don't want to you can close your eyes whether the lights are on or not.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/01/2015 15:09

I can't stand the big light on at all. For any activity. Let alone sex. It makes me tense to have the big light on. Hate it.

JustSpeakSense · 23/01/2015 15:09

Fleetfoxes! Grin

creambun2014 · 23/01/2015 15:11

We always have the big light on. We have no lamp in there and I don't want sex in the dark.

PixieofCatan · 23/01/2015 15:26

YANBU, I don't like bright lights on if we're having sex in our room. The lights are too bright. But then I have stupid LEDs in the ceiling -_-

ElectraInExcelsis · 23/01/2015 15:50

I've never liked full glare on even when I was 18.

OP posts:
googoodolly · 23/01/2015 15:58

It's never bothered me. If it's on, I'm not about to stop proceedings to get up and turn it off. Likewise I wouldn't get up and turn it on either!

windchime · 23/01/2015 16:27

I take it whenever I can get it these days. Lights on/daylight whatever. It comes with the territory of shift work Smile

JohnFarleysRuskin · 23/01/2015 16:32

Morning light or lamp light is surely preferable.

Fatalatomo · 23/01/2015 16:36

Well I don't like the big light on but then I don't really like the big light on at any time apart from sometimes when I'm eating.

I don't mind the lamp on but I prefer to just have the TV on mute in the background. I find it really hard to orgasm if I can't concentrate and the lights sort of keep me in the room rather than let me get into what I'm feeling if that makes sense?

FluffyMcnuffy · 23/01/2015 16:40

Doesn't bother me at all. DW prefers it with the light on so she can see me in all my glory Grin.
