to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

YANBU to expect consideration from any member of the public.

But if you were to kick my dog if she got in your way, I would go straight to the police.

ghostspirit · 13/01/2015 17:22

i come across the odd person that has the dog lead stretched out and blocking the path not often though. the dog should be on a short lead and close to the owners side not stretched across the path. as others have said dogs should also not be able to jump up at people.

there is a guy where i live her has a rottweiler puppy. hes quite big now but very bouncy. the dog runs about. the owner calls him and the dog ignores him. my 4 year old was running the other day and the dog chased her. the dog is massive beside her. the guy told her not to run as the dog will chase/jump because he thinks she playing. i should think this is true but of course my 4 year old does not understand that neither does the dog. hopefully the dog will settle might be because hes still a pup. but think maybe the owner need to take a bit more control now rather than later...

as for a dog doing a poo thats life. as long as the owner picks it up. thats all that matters... everyone poos.

Taconata · 13/01/2015 17:22

What can be done about the dog shit though. I've just moved to the loveliest town and it's great but the dog shit is absolutely everywhere. EVERYWHERE. You can't avoid it. Even if I can personally avoid stepping in it, it is brought into my house over and over anyway. If the carers don't track it in at 6am then DH's wheelchair rolls it in later.

I have to mop my floors twice a day, at least, and often more. I'm sick to death of it. It's absolutely disgusting. I mean come on. It's shit! Shit everywhere!

ghostspirit · 13/01/2015 17:23

op would you kick a person/child if they invade your personal space?

Shockers · 13/01/2015 17:26

Interrobang My dog can get a bit whiffy when she's been in the river, but I'd take that smell over heavy perfume, fabric conditioner or air fresheners any day.

I'd take her over quite a lot people I come across too.

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/01/2015 17:52

There are lots of annoying/unpleasant people around. Some of them own dogs. It isn't a prerequisite to being unpleasant though, as you demonstrate quite nicely op

FyreFly · 13/01/2015 18:07

All these stinking, viscious things we allow in our home.. It's awful isn't it Hmm

I think I shall go and make a small donation on behalf of the OP.

JohnCusacksWife · 13/01/2015 18:09

This morning on the way to school the footpath was blocked by 2 mums pushing buggies who had stopped to have a chat. Did I rant and rave and hate all mums as a result? No...I said excuse me and squeezed by. No drama! Think you need to get a grip OP, you sound a little unhinged.

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 13/01/2015 18:11

Guide Dogs and assistance dogs are not a nuisance though. They are amazing dogs and are very well behaved.
I can tolerate guide dogs and assistance dogs.

FyreFly · 13/01/2015 18:15

They are when they're trained, Inthedark.

Before that there's about 2 years of training in public places; supermarkets, trains, buses, shops.... Before they're properly trained they have the potential to pester, lick and crap everywhere too, just like every other puppy does. I do hope the OP never kicks a guide-dog puppy in training for inadvertently getting too close.

VivaLeBeaver · 13/01/2015 18:17

"Err yes my DC and I have more right to walk on the pavements and use parks than a stinking animal that someone chooses to have as a pet."

Really? What law is this written in please?

If someone ranted at me for my dog weeing or shitting on the pavement. As long as I was picking any poo up I would think they were totally unhinged and not hesitate to tell them so.

formerbabe · 13/01/2015 18:17

I think guide dogs are amazing.

Unfortunately I see less of them and more 15 stone, muscular status dogs being dragged around by some half wit who thinks it makes him look hard whilst drinking cheap lager from the can standing outside a chicken shop.

FyreFly · 13/01/2015 18:21

former I agree with you there. I can't stand the mass backyard breeding of status dogs, which are often poorly trained, not looked after properly and which invariably fill rescue centres.

However you would be best to direct your ire at the owners and breeders of said dogs, rather than the poor animals that have precisely zero control over their situation.

LST · 13/01/2015 18:21

What about a woman taking her well behaved border collie for a walk, with her 2 children? Any thoughts on her?

Taconata · 13/01/2015 18:22

But did those mums shit on your bedroom floor, though, JohnCusacksWife? Cause if they did I'd say you'd be okay raising your voice. I'd let you off there.

BoredChurch · 13/01/2015 18:22

I can't stand it when dog owners allow their dogs to sniff me. I don't want doggy snot on me. Sad

I probably should write what I think of owners thst don't pick up after their dogs. It's disgusting.

Ems1812 · 13/01/2015 18:25

I also hate dogs. They smell, slobber, sniff & paw at you, they lick themselves, their poo smells absolutely disgusting (yes I am aware that all poo smells), they invade your space, demand attention & drop hair EVERYWHERE (goodbye nice clean black tights- courtesy of MIL's horrible beast of a dog) . Oh god & don't even get me started on barking.

I'm going to run & hide now before the dog lovers get me!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 13/01/2015 18:25

I'm not a dog owner (or indeed a dog person, really) and I don't do the school run (Kids are older now) BUT if I was, I would probably incorporate the school drop off into the 2 main walks of the day too. Makes sense really, from a practical point of view.

Drop off - Walk kids to school then take dog to park for 20mins or whatever.
Pick up - collect kids on the way home from another long walk or park session with the dog.

YANBU re dog poo. It is disgusting that some owners don't bag it and bin it.

LST · 13/01/2015 18:27

Is that ALL dogs then EMS? Hmm

You must know some knob head people who don't know how to train a dog.

Bowlersarm · 13/01/2015 18:27

My dogs smell a lot nicer than my teenagers sometimes do, you definitely wouldn't want them delving into your shopping at times.

You sound joyless op.......and I hope the school run doggies continue to enjoy the school run without danger of bring kicked and abused by you.

richthegreatcornholio · 13/01/2015 18:28

Only dog owners say this. Like smokers think they and their houses don't smell either.

Rubbish. Even non-dog owners have been asked when visiting our house specifically for this very reason and even they can only smell her when sticking their nose into her fur. I can also go into some houses and smell the dog but not others because quite simply not all dogs smell.

Ems1812 · 13/01/2015 18:30

I have honestly never met a dog I liked. Maybe everyone I know just doesn't train them well because I've never met one that is particularly well behaved! I seem to get harrassed & left smelly, fluffy & with a desperate desire to bathe in Dettol after seeing them!

LST · 13/01/2015 18:31

Like I said...

fluffymouse · 13/01/2015 18:31

Yabu

Are dog hating threads the new vogue on mumsnet?

My dog doesn't smell, nor jump up to people. You would hate her anyway by the sounds of it, as you sound like a rather hateful person.

whothehellknows · 13/01/2015 18:33

I always lol at the "well trained" guide dogs. I worked with a lady who had an assistance dog. Beautiful, lovely temperament, etc. But plenty of times I watched said dog leap up and snaffle someone's sandwich and once even have a poo in the office! The owner couldn't do much, as she couldn't see what the dog was up to.

Still preferred cheeky dog to moody humans, though. Poo and dog smell wash off, whereas a nasty disposition tends to linger.
