to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

BubbleGirl01 · 13/01/2015 10:15

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

There are loads of dog-free public places Interrobang Confused

Dog-free beaches, parks, play areas, hotels, restaurants, shops, campsites, gardens, historic houses, theme parks... As an owner of two dogs I can tell you it's a right kerfuffle to try and book a holiday where I can find a dog-friendly BnB and a dog-friendly beach.

Sits and quietly ponders on some posters attitudes to guide dogs

kali110 · 13/01/2015 14:40

Some people wish they could have designated child free areas....

MamaMary · 13/01/2015 14:41

Going to post this n hide the thread, as I can't stand these sanctimonious dog-owners who believe everyone should get out of the way of their darling pooches.

OP, YANBU

ShouldHaveMarriedTimDowling · 13/01/2015 14:42

Your manner of speaking disgusts me more than that stinking shit. You sounds a delightful person.

TheWitTank · 13/01/2015 14:47

Everyone knows this is the thrice monthly dog wind up thread right? Spectacularly insulting and rude throughout getting everyone suitably frothed and ready for the next days anti smokers/benefits/child parking thread?

FoxInABox · 13/01/2015 14:52

My biggest annoyance from this is the amount of dog poo left all along the road the school is on. I hate that we have to weave in and out of it to get to school.

auntboggle · 13/01/2015 14:56

I have a dog, but taking dcs to school this week, saw about ten piles of dog poo, starting outside my house and trailing all the way to school, having been stepped in by probably every child en route to school. I went out with hot water and bleach and got rid of it [my middle name is ocd] I guess it is the old adage, it is the not the dogs, it is the fecking arseing dog owners who are to blame. YANBU.

auntboggle · 13/01/2015 14:57

Not sure how you spell arseing - arsing or arseing?

Jodie1982 · 13/01/2015 14:59

Me and my kiddies have same probs on school run, but with lots of piles of stinking dog shit, everywhere! Can't stand Dogs anyway.

LST · 13/01/2015 15:03

To people who don't like dogs...

Do you react to every single dog you see in public?

TheChandler · 13/01/2015 15:05

EveDallasRtd Actually OP, under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 it is an offence to kick a dog, so I would call the police, not the RSPCA.

If you think it is acceptable to kick an animal simply because you think it could be a threat to you (or for sniffing your shopping), then you are very wrong.

Any chance of giving a case where there has been a successful prosecution and the sentence given?

Otherwise, good luck with that one - I think most people would choose self defence if cornered by a dog they thought likely to attack them. Equally, they could freeze, like I did when I was bitten, but freezing didn't do me any good, I still got bitten, and now I'm much more wary and I hope I would kick and put the dog off, should it happen again.

But please, please train your dogs. Spend time with them, enjoy them, build a relationship with them so that you can take your dog out in public places without it terrifying or making other people feel threatened. Otherwise, why do you have a dog? I know perfectly well its not usually the dog that has the behavioural problem when it jumps on you, despite you displaying signals it should have been trained to recognise that you don't want to interact. I know its the owners that have the behavioural problems, and this thread gives many examples!

FyreFly · 13/01/2015 15:07

You know, I've lived in just about every environment going. Countryside villages to suburbs and inner city (and I'm including two cities in that!). I don't think I've ever seen a pavement "strewn" with dog crap "everywhere". Yep, you see some definitely, and you shouldn't be seeing any of course, but it's not like it's an obstacle course.

The only time I've ever managed to step in any was in my own garden clearing up after mine. Because I'm smart like that Wink

tiggydiggydee · 13/01/2015 16:12

Oh I hate these sorts of threads Sad dog lover here and wouldn't be without him! But stood in dog poo yesterday and was truly awful! So like all things in life some people/dog owners are a pain but that's life!
I hate it when dogs run and jump all over my little dog when out walking, I hate it when other dog owners don't pick up after them, I hate it when they let them run free and can't control them etc
But I also hate people who want to kick a dog when its the owners that are at fault!
Why do these threads ALWAYS have to be dog owners versus non dog owners...the world is full of idiots doing things ...doesn't mean everyone's like that Hmm

paperlace · 13/01/2015 16:19

I cannot stand dogs - scared of them.

BUT I understand that they are people's pets and are much loved.

I have two cats and adore them but I know some people hate cats!

So YABU to not accept this and accept dogs need walking - that most dogs have nice, decent owners and you are talking about a few dickheads who are rude and thoughtless.

BeeBawBabbity · 13/01/2015 16:41

Dogs should be trained not to jump up, and owners should pick up their shit. Otherwise, YABU. Just because you don't like those dogs and their owners taking up space on a public path doesn't mean they shouldn't do it. The world does not revolve around you. You may have to dodge dogs occasionally. I suggest you learn to deal with it.

I do have sympathy for those with a genuine fear.

StarsOfTrackAndField · 13/01/2015 16:50

This always happens ....

A poster gives a specific example of bad or inconsiderate behaviour by a dog owner/man/teacher/Doctor's receptionist which is absolutely fair enough.

Then a whole bunch of other posters pop up and accuse the poster from this isolated example of hating all dog owners/men/teachers/Doctor's receptionists or accusing the OP of lying because I am a dog owner/man/teacher et al and I would never do that.'

squoosh · 13/01/2015 16:53

And then another bunch pop up saying all dogs/men/teachers/receptionists are vile and the OP is definitely not being unreasonable.

IrianofWay · 13/01/2015 16:56

"A poster gives a specific example of bad or inconsiderate behaviour by a dog owner/man/teacher/Doctor's receptionist which is absolutely fair enough. "

However the OP mentions dogs being in the way a bit, and getting too close to her son's heels and then someone cleaning up dog shit. None of which seems to be bad or inconsiderate behaviour. Dogs on leads and dog shit being picked up. Her objection seems to be about being forced to be in the same place as dogs.

StarsOfTrackAndField · 13/01/2015 17:03

Yes I missed that stage sqoosh and the whole question gets lost in a sea of infantile posturing and axe grinding.

EveDallasRetd · 13/01/2015 17:06

...and OP says she'd kick a dog for 'invading her personal space' - so, walking past her? Standing next to her? Sniffing her shopping?

If she said she'd kick a dog that had lunged at her, attempted to bite/attack her or her kid or similar I wouldn't have such an issue, but to say she'd kick a dog simply for existing in the same space as her? Nope. That is very, very unreasonable and really fucking cruel.

StarsOfTrackAndField · 13/01/2015 17:08

I read that as being something akin to 'I'll suffocate my husband in his sleep if he doesn't stop snoring' an impulse rather than something they'd actually do. But if the op was serious then that wouldn't be on.

richthegreatcornholio · 13/01/2015 17:08

I can't understand why anyone would want something which smells so bad in their house

What an astounding level of ignorance you have. You do realise that not all dogs smell? The only hint of dog smell to be had from my greyhound for example, is to be found by burying your nose into her fur and even then it's pretty faint and rather pleasant.

formerbabe · 13/01/2015 17:14

Most people with dogs would say their dogs don't smell but non pet owners can smell when a house has a pet in it straight away....people with animals in their house just become immune to the smell.

Only dog owners say this. Like smokers think they and their houses don't smell either.

SistersOfPercy · 13/01/2015 17:17

People smell as well, we just become immune to that. Difference is I prefer the company of my dog to most people.
