to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

Taz1212, at least one of my dogs come to school with me almost every day. The four older ones are all work as reading therapy dogs within the school during the day (working with myself or one of the TAs), and have some other roles within the school. The two younger ones come along sometimes as well as they are in training. I've also bred several pups that are working in similar roles. In addition to my own dogs, we have three children within the school that have their own therapy dogs. Another teacher brings her rabbit everyday, and one of the language teachers has a ferret that sits on their shoulder. Most classrooms have some sort of pet. We've even got school chooks. We're pretty relaxed about animals around here.

Athsma is very common I agree. Most children with athsma will not have their lives put at risk by being near a dog outside.

Anaphylaxis is something different. They are not one and the same thing.

FWIW I am a moderately severe athsmatic. Have been since childhood. I have it under control with inhalers. I was painfully allergic to cats and dogs but even when my allergy was at its worst simply being near one in the fresh air did not cause my any problems.

This is all going too far.

Where I live there's about a dozen of schools. I do try and avoid walking past them during drop off and pick up because it's not pleasant, TBH, screaming children, hassled mums, cars on the pavements, scooters, the lot but sometimes I have to and I have my dog with me.

He won't jump up and he's on the lead but we have to physically squeeze past children.

What do you all propose to do about that? Do you think I should't walk there, and it is a public highway after all, or should I leave the dog at home? Hmm

MythicalKings · 14/01/2015 11:51

You come across as unhinged mythical.

Unhinged? Maybe if you had seen your child in anaphylaxis or had had to sit/sleep by his bed in hospital for weeks at a time you would have a little more sympathy for parents of children with severe allergies, and realise that children's lives matters more than dogs being able to hang around a school gate.

But you come across as a selfish cow, so that's not likely to happen.

Ottililia of course it's ok to walk wherever you want even if it's past school kids as long as you have a dog that doesn't jump up. Apart from a very, very few posters nobody seems to mind trained dogs.

I walk a lot and I have had dogs jump up at me and I can't stand it. I really hate it. I'm not particularly scared of dogs but I still don't want to be jumped up on. I've had to change my cloths because of it.

Who is saying you should not walk your dog

It's dogs being taken on the school run and hanging about at the school gate sometimes tied up while parent goes into the school grounds

Dogs can be avoided at most times they can't when owners insist on taking them everywhere and this is just not necessary

FreudiansSlipper · 14/01/2015 11:56

People don't like cats

I love cats mine being the best cat ever. I do not judge people on not liking them

YWBU to kick the dog, but I don't think you are actually going to do this, otherwise it wouldn't be crossed out.

Otherwise YANBU - the owners need to have more consideration of others.

FreudiansSlipper · 14/01/2015 12:09

Altinkum that must make things very difficult at times

Totally different from just not liking or wanting to be around dogs but we not always aware of the real reason

MidniteScribbler · 14/01/2015 12:11

Altikum is it just dogs being left outside the gates that you have to walk through? Eg, no dogs are on the actual grounds? Is there perhaps a staff entrance that you could use with your DS? schools can't really control what goes on outside the gates, but if there is an entrance not usually in use by other students, then that may be an option.
