to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

"I think Seahorses means a full poo bag." there you go ExitPursuedByA Bear hmm you sound delightful!

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/01/2015 08:42

Oh I am. As delightful as my dog.

tiggydiggydee · 14/01/2015 08:43

nice to know Grin

OttiliaVonBCup · 14/01/2015 08:45

Tiggy I think you badlymisinterpret what I said.

Empty bags go in pockets and are invisible, full bags get carried to the nearest bin and are visible.

I think Seahorses meant that because they don't see visible ones they assume no one carries any bags.

tiggydiggydee · 14/01/2015 08:46

Ah ok no problem! Thought it sounded crackers!

Kab13 · 14/01/2015 08:47

I don't own a dog.
My aunty does and I promise you her house smells beautiful. She has wooden floors and steams them regularly. The dog is groomed and washed regularly and it keeps any doggy smell at bay.

Yanbu....

I like dogs.... but not all gathering in the school run.

FyreFly · 14/01/2015 09:05

I have (empty) plastic bags tied onto the handles of my dogs leads, as well as spares in my pocket. The pocket stash is useful if you've forgotten your bags for life when you go shopping :)

tiggydiggydee · 14/01/2015 09:08

I have a friend who used (an empty one...so as not to cause confusing again!) as a rain hat! They are jolly handy at times Wink

Taz1212 · 14/01/2015 09:21

TheNewStatesman Of course he is a complete nuisance when he jumps which is why we put him on lead whenever we are around anyone. He walks to heel and ignores people when he is on lead, but if we miss spotting someone first he still approaches them and will jump. It doesn't happen very often as I'm pretty good at spotting people approaching, but in the absence of strangers to practice on, the best we can do is continue training him over and over again as we walk past on lead and be vigilant at trying to spot others around us. He's only off lead in quiet wooded paths/fields etc and we do lots of on lead heel practice on the school run.

Eventually he will be a very well trained dog, but at 6 months old he's quite a ways off.

LST · 14/01/2015 09:33

Taz you sound like you're doing a fab job with him. You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. Just ignore.

FreudiansSlipper · 14/01/2015 09:39

Of course dogs should not be taken on the school run take them for a walk after or before

Not everyone likes to be around dogs they avoid them on the school run it is not possible but it is possible to take your dog for a walk at other times

Taz1212 · 14/01/2015 09:42

Thanks LST I actually am really enjoying training him- it's so long since I've had a puppy to train!

And just quickly on training puppies... Unfortunately I also don't have a magical way of knowing the day when he will stop jumping on adults. To watch him on lead you'd never guess he is a jumpy dog. However when he sees other dogs and adults he is. My plan is to gradually have him on a longer lead in slightly busier areas and give him a bit more freedom and only call him back when he looks as though he is going to bolt (and stopping him via the lead if he ignores me!)

LST · 14/01/2015 09:42

When my dc starts school ddog will most definitely be on the school run. It makes sense. We have a 1yo too so I will incorporate dog walk and school run twice a day. I am not a dick head dog owner though so there is no issue.

Telltale bulge showing something in the pocket, Exit?

Ha ha ha. Ridiculous. It is a tiny plastic bag.

LST · 14/01/2015 09:46

Puppy training is my favourite bit :) Watching them learn is great. My son has just started walking and ddog walks behind him slowly until he falls on his bum. I swear it's so he doesn't fall backwards. He never bothered when he was sofa cruising!

__

As the pavements are not private I don't see what anyone can do to stop it. Even the 'dogs are banned from the school gates' rubbish. Public highways: no one can ban dogs from them.

OttiliaVonBCup · 14/01/2015 09:54

Oh! I missed the bulge post!

That's why my full bag post caused such misunderstandings later.
I'm sorry!

Must say though, I'm not going around looking for bulges in peoples trousers.
That way trouble lies.

FreudiansSlipper · 14/01/2015 09:58

I never mentioned banning

I expect dog owners to be considerate towards other people

Children have to get to school dogs do not have to go on the school run and be hanging around the school gate

PrimalLass · 14/01/2015 10:04

PP have said that dogs are banned from the school gates.

PrimalLass · 14/01/2015 10:06

Maybe for some people it's the only way to manage their time and get the dog walked, particularly if school is far away. Saying that no dogs should be on the school run is ridiculous. What if you don't have kids but happen to walk your dog past the school at that time? How silly.

FreudiansSlipper · 14/01/2015 10:09

Some schools may have banned or tried to ban dogs from the school gates because many dog owners do not even consider or rather do not care that some people just do not wish to be around dogs whatever the reasons

ds school has asked parents to not bring dogs to the school gate and of course this has been ignored by some but thankfully not by others

FreudiansSlipper · 14/01/2015 10:11

Should this not be thought out when you get a dog Confused

LST · 14/01/2015 10:11

Kiss and watch child in from a distance. No problem. People need to get their pants out of their arse.
