My Land Rover is filthy inside and out and STINKS! Four dogs who like wading in mud and rolling in fox poo, the dirt that transfers from my horses onto me, plus leaky sunroof so it's always a bit damp add up to an almighty pong.
My house is lovely when it has its monthly blitz, but grubby in between cleans.
However, people say they have filthy cars, when all I can see is maybe a sweet wrapper, three dog hairs and a small smear on the windscreen!

starsandunicorns · 08/01/2015 18:41

Clean flat dirty car outside mainly dog hair inside drive country roads and motorway each day for work have no drive so in order to clean car inside and out I would need to go to a carwash and pay only me and dh drive and use the car plus the dog in the back seat life is too short lights get cleaned once a month

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 08/01/2015 18:42

Another country bumpkin here. My car is always filthy on the outside in winter, because we live in a narrow, muddy lane. If I get it washed then its filthy again by the time I get home, so I don't bother.

House isn't immaculate, but it's pretty tidy and clean.

m0therofdragons · 08/01/2015 18:43

Car is dirty but house is clean. Seems pointless cleaning it when I drive down the lanes in the west country and within minutes it's filthy again.

m0therofdragons · 08/01/2015 18:44

Mind you, with 3dc I'm not always sure why I bother cleaning the house either.

Kab13 · 08/01/2015 18:44

Dh is totally OCD with the home. Spotless. His car however...

madwomanacrosstheroad · 08/01/2015 18:45

Also a not so clean house is surely good for the immune system!!!

UterusUterusGhali · 08/01/2015 18:46

Both are filthy.

There is a bale of hay in the boot of my car.
There is, to be fair, minimal hay inside the house.

Hatespiders · 08/01/2015 18:48

Very clean car because we take it to one of those excellent hand carwash teams (Lithuanians; we've got to know them quite well and they do a super job) House quite clean too, but then I'm retired and my dh is a school cleaner and loves cleaning. It's only a tiny bungalow, extremely easy to clean.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/01/2015 18:55

My car is a mess inside and out, I've got a dog and horses so the inside is always full of hay/straw/dog hair and the outside is always caked in mud.

My house however is clean and reasonably tidy at all times.

randycheeseburger · 08/01/2015 18:55

My husbands car is filthy inside and out, I used to clean it but I give up he only moans when I do (doesn't like me putting smellies on the mirror)
our house is not filthy

wobblebobblehat · 08/01/2015 19:01

What an odd thing to think. Do you starch your knickers as well?

Clean house and filthy car. I spend a lot of time on country roads following tractors. My car is normally filthy within two days.

Saw a really dirty car earlier and someone had written, 'honk if you want a bonk'. Had to chuckle.

LynetteScavo · 08/01/2015 19:01

My car is horrendous inside....but my house is clean and mostly tidy.

But then I'm in my house, so I can clean and tidy....my car is outside in the cold and dark....and I need to clean it before I take it for someone else to clean.

Topseyt · 08/01/2015 19:10

My car is mucky on the outside, though somehow or another has remained acceptable on the inside. Not sure how I have managed that, as it is normally filthy on both. It is pretty rural around here, and the roads get filthy with mud from fields. Many are also prone to flooding, partial flooding in some parts, so there is a lot of muddy spray when out and about.

My house is acceptable. To me anyway. It could be tidier, but it isn't unclean. Lived in is how I like to put it.

wonkylegs · 08/01/2015 19:13

Nope - house clean with tidy public rooms & less tidy spaces out of sight.
DHs car is filthy inside & out, mine is clean & tidy (on a Monday... by the end of the week it's a bit full of kid junk) but outside is absolutely filthy thanks to country lanes however because it's mud coloured most people don't notice and I was even complimented on my clean car by a friend the other day ?? ( I did ask her if she was blind)

Bulbasaur · 08/01/2015 19:23

I can see it. Our car is a little messy but not terrible. Our house is the same way.

TattyDevine · 08/01/2015 19:29

I dunno, my car is messy because I don't like clutter on the inside. So all the crap that accumulates over the week like stuff out the kids bookbags, takeaway coffee cups etc. I even have a decomposing pear core Grin

I don't let it go on ages though because DH drives it sometimes on the weekend and thinks I'm a skank so I tend to get it sorted Friday night. So its nice on the weekend and slowly festering crap as the week progresses.

TattyDevine · 08/01/2015 19:30

Its embarrassing when school run mums carhop while we are waiting for the gates to open. This afternoon I was sitting there flipping through a catalogue (that's something else that accumulates in there as the week progresses, I read all my junk mail in the car at the school gates) and a mum opened the passenger door and sat down for a chat. Had to sweep some crap to the floor and move my bag of shopping Blush

LucyAylesbarrow · 08/01/2015 19:47

No! My car is fairly shambolic, most of the time. My house is remarkably- friends always bang on about it- clean and tidy

hufflebottom · 08/01/2015 19:54

My car is filthy. I don't see the point in washing it in the winter. The inside is a tip at the mo and will get cleaned out when I'm next at my parents. Not so easy to clean the inside of car at my house I live top floor of a block of flats so can clear the rubbish out but it needs a Hoover.

House....well it looks like my dd (4) lives here, it's clean just need to put things back that were got out after school. :)

dangerrabbit · 08/01/2015 20:01

Clean car, clean house.

ghostyslovesheep · 08/01/2015 20:03

no

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 08/01/2015 20:04

Never occured to me!

Soexcitedforthisyear · 08/01/2015 20:22

I wash and Hoover my car weekly but the combination of rural roads and 3 children eating in it between activities means it's generally not great. My house is spotless

Oldraver · 08/01/2015 20:24

My car is filthy on the outside my house is a lot more tidy and cleaner.

Both my parents and a friend have an over invested interest in how clean my car is on the outside and always make pointed comments about it. I did recently tell the friend that dirt on the outside the car makes not one jot of difference. I cant fathom as to why people are so interested in dirty cars
