OP posts:
Doobigetta · 08/01/2015 17:37

One of the ways I keep my flat nice and tidy is by using the car as overflow storage. So YABU.

PurpleSwift · 08/01/2015 17:37

No. That would never occour to me. My friends car is a disgrace thanks to her kids eating in the car and she hates cleaning it. Her house is pristine though.

306235388 · 08/01/2015 17:38

Well my cars a tip but my house isn't...

ThePinkOcelot · 08/01/2015 17:43

My house is clean and tidy but my car isn't.

ZammoMcGuire · 08/01/2015 17:44

NO

what a stupid idea

stopgap · 08/01/2015 17:45

House is pretty damn spotless.

Car is forever filthy with various bits of detritus on the floor. I live on a farm. It's a Land Rover. It's meant to wear mud like my 20-year-old cousin wears foundation.

Twiceover · 08/01/2015 17:46

Car is horrifying shit tip full of rubbish and crumbs. Cleaning it out is on my to do list. Home is...passable. I am forced to the unpalatable conclusion that I'm just lazy and not that fussy. Wink

lavendersun · 08/01/2015 17:46

Do you live in a town OP??

I live very rurally, probably have our cars washed every 5 or 6 days. One trip to school on wet rural roads and it looks like it needs doing again. Had mine cleaned yesterday afternoon and it looks like it needs doing again already.

School is 6 miles on rural roads with harvesting, ploughing and pig farms - no hope of keeping it clean at all.

Insides always very clean but there isn't lot you can do with the outside.

Greencurtain · 08/01/2015 17:47

You can easily tackle a car. Here you can get a wash and vacuum for £7. So I do that once every couple of months, my car is usually clean inside and not too bad outside. People get in it an comment on how clean it is.

House more difficult IMO. More of it, whole family making mess. At least in the car they are all strapped in one place!!

chrome100 · 08/01/2015 17:50

My car is a shit tip. I only use it twice a month or so at weekends to go hiking or mountain biking so it's only used in the wet and mud. And I just can't be arsed to clean it out especially as we have to park it 2 streets from our front door.

My house on the other side is pretty clean (I think!), I spend more time in it so want it to be nice.

awfulomission · 08/01/2015 17:52

No.

If I cleaned my car every time it got dirty I'd have no life. Officially.

We live in the countryside and in the winter it's sprayed with mud every single day.

House is OK.

dietcokeandwine · 08/01/2015 17:53

I have a very clean and tidy house.

My car is filthy.

I keep meaning to get round to having it cleaned but it always ends up being the last job on the list that never gets done.

I won't say it doesn't bother me because it does, I hate mess and dirt and clutter. But I put up with it in the car because I only have to go in the car for short periods of time. I would never in a million years let my house get in the kind of state that my car does.

CaurnieBred · 08/01/2015 17:55

House is clean and relatively tidy. The car: meh! I did just get it cleaned in and out after our marathon Christmas drive as it was getting you dirty if you touched it (due to salt on the motorways). The outside probably got washed abut 3-4 months ago. The inside was last cleaned out when my father did it last Feb. . .

Is so not a priority in our lives. The paintwork is scuffed, it has a dent along the bottom that DH put in it within 10 days of buying it 3 years ago and I think low profile tyres and alloy wheels are the worst things ever invented; give me steels any day as they are much more robust.

Flingingmelon · 08/01/2015 18:09

My car is held together with mud, my home is lovely. We live in the country. I'd never do anything else if I tried to keep the car cleanGrin

Dragonfly71 · 08/01/2015 18:12

Yep both filthy and agree with madwoman!

TheLovelyBoots · 08/01/2015 18:15

My house is super-clean, but I cannot come to grips with keeping a clean car- it's kind of a release valve. It makes my husband very, very unhappy as the car is his man-joy.

RoundRobinSparkles · 08/01/2015 18:15

My house is spotless and so is the car. Only because DH cleans it though! Wink

I like having a clean house - I couldn't give a shit about the car. I Can't drive it anyway, maybe that's why?

KatieScarlettreregged · 08/01/2015 18:16

Car is only ever cleaned when valet chap comes to work and sorts it out.
My house is very clean especially now as DS has fecked off back to Uni.

FishWithABicycle · 08/01/2015 18:18

my car is muddy on the outside and full of rubbish and detritus inside. My home is generally dirty and cluttered. I hoover when guests are coming around, which is usually no more than once every couple of months. So yes.

GemmaTeller · 08/01/2015 18:21

The inside of DSD's car looks like her bedroom, a floordrobe, covered in coats, shoes, makeup etc etc.

Our house is clean and tidy - the car not so much - I'm not a car snob and as long as it gets me from A to B I'm happy

notonyourninny · 08/01/2015 18:22

Wibble, my hair is filth, house better.

HarlotOTara · 08/01/2015 18:26

My house is very clean and tidy but my car is a bit of a mess although dh cleaned the outside at the weekend but the inside is rather crap.

victoryinthekitchen · 08/01/2015 18:27

house and car both messy but it doesn't seem to stop people piling into both :)

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 08/01/2015 18:29

Filthy car , filthy house here. It's interesting that I think I'm only the third person on this thread to admit that.

Almost everyone's house is very clean, but most are happy to let the car get dirty.

There simply isn't enough hours available to work full time, sleep, cook decent food, have fun, relax, and keep a spotless house so the least important thing generally
gets ignored.

TheOnlyWayIsLindt · 08/01/2015 18:32

Cars shockingly dirty here.

House pretty clean. Not to show home levels but not embarrassing if unexpected visitors dropped round.

We're rural. Cars don't stay clean for long.
