adora1985 · 08/01/2015 16:59

My car is mucky but not filthy. I hate car washing, so don't bother doing it, and just let the rain take care of the worst bits. My house is show home immaculate, I can't stand living with/around clutter or dirt. I work from home, so get a lot of stuff done during my working day, while in waiting for various work related bits to come through to me.

LadyLuck10 · 08/01/2015 17:00

I think people who look scruffy would probably have dirty homes.

Eastwickwitch · 08/01/2015 17:01

I always think there's something a bit odd about people that care enough to have spotless cars.
Mine's like a skip Grin

iwantgin · 08/01/2015 17:02

Yes, the people I know that have really grotty, messy cars generally have a similar house.

I like to keep both tidy (ish). The exterior of my car is a bit dirty at the moment, but that's because i like to wash it myself with a bucket - not use the car wash. It's always tidy on the inside as i don't alllow anyone to eat or drink in there. ha ha!!

lemisscared · 08/01/2015 17:02

why is this important?

BingBong36 · 08/01/2015 17:02

Yabu

My house is spotless and always tidy. My car is a shit hole.

I work so hard keeping my home clean and tidy I really do not have the energy to sort out the car .

42bunnytails · 08/01/2015 17:03

In my case yes, I hate cleaning full stop.

However, I live in an area with big tractors and narrow lanes, no ones car is clean!

Fudgeface123 · 08/01/2015 17:04

My car is disgusting from the dogs but my house is always clean and tidy

youllshootyoureyeout · 08/01/2015 17:05

My car is dirtier than the house. That is probably because I have to park under trees and the pigeons crap all over it. And being in a parking bay away from the house it is difficult to vacuum it. Those dustbuster things are rubbish!

hmc · 08/01/2015 17:05

Aha, I often look scruffy Ladyluck (although depends on context - not if I am going out) but my house is clean and tidy

When I've watched episodes of 'The Hoarder Next Door' - they live in squalor but often look pretty well groomed rather than sporting a bag lady look ....

Just goes to show

londonrach · 08/01/2015 17:06

Or maybe people with dirty cars live in flats with no access to outside water and electricity for the vacuum. My car gets cleaned when i visit my inlaws during the light. I cant physically clear it and it really ignores me. My flat us spotless. I love cleaning the toilet the most as it smells so nice afterwards.

ZingTheGreat · 08/01/2015 17:07

East

don't even...we had a neighbour who cleaned his car every day.
he once even moved his car because a treesurgeon car went by and some woodchips spread on the road, the swept the road before re-parking his car.Confused

It is possible he may have some form of disability.
but all I know is that he was fucking rude and shouted abuse at people who parked in "his" space. weirdo

rather a shithole car but a decent person

Cabrinha · 08/01/2015 17:11

My car is a shit top inside. I could give you all sorts of excuses...

I fly a lot for work, when I get in at 01:00 after a 2 hour drive from the airport, no, I don't care that I tossed a coke bottle into the passenger footwell.

When I have limited time to play with my kid, I don't spend that time retrieving the coke bottle - or the muffin crumbs surrounding it.

It's definitely eating in the car that makes mine minging - but with the hours and times I spend in it, I'm not going to stop!

So I have excuses. But... Fact is, I'm lazy and I just don't care that much about it.

My house isn't "immaculate" but it is neat and clean - and different enough for people to comment on just how different it is to my car!

specialsubject · 08/01/2015 17:11

the house is clean and tidy. I live in the house and the rooms don't get driven around muddy lanes.

the car is a bit mucky, will wash it when it is neither raining nor freezing. I don't worry about the top as long as windows and lights are clear, but I do need to get the salt off the underside.

Rowgtfc72 · 08/01/2015 17:12

You could eat your dinner off the inside of our cars engine, its dhs pride and joy. The house isn't filthy but certainly nowhere near as clean as the car.

TweeAintMee · 08/01/2015 17:13

What an extraordinary question. Why on earth would you care or mind if a friend had a messy car or house? Their business entirely surely.

Orangeanddemons · 08/01/2015 17:14

My car is appalling. No one will go in it except me.. I only clear the shite out when it starts to get too deep to actually reach the pedals.

My home is clean and tidy. A car gets me from A to B. It serves no other purpose. My home is for living in, and is therefore clean and cosy

grovel · 08/01/2015 17:17

My house is clean. My car is clean.

But I've got a dirty mind.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 08/01/2015 17:20

No - I don't agree. Pretty sure my cleaner would walk out if I asked her to wash our car though. Grin

I hate washing cars - I'm too short to wash it without getting soaked and I live in London with on street parking and no hose will go that far so it means carrying buckets of water through the house. On the weekends I have better things to do than queue for ages so that some poor team of immigrants can be paid tuppence ha'penny to wash and hoover my car in the freezing cold, while their "supervisor" stands ready to pocket any tips.

MaliceInWinterWonderland78 · 08/01/2015 17:23

Our house is clean(ish), our car........... a bio-hazzard. My wife lets the kids eat in the car and I have trouble identifying what the stuff was before it went mouldy.

I'll clean the car out every month or so (I rarely use it). The outside is a disgrace, but then we do live rurally - so everyone's car is a disgrace. We'll be getting a defender, so I can just pressure wash the back out with the kids still in situ

TheFairyCaravan · 08/01/2015 17:29

wobbly Yes I know you can wipe the lights clean, but then there is the damage that the salt/mud causes to the paint work and alloy wheels. Not to mention all the things it does if it gets caught under the wheel arches, apparently, I don't listen anymore! He likes doing it.

We've always lived rurally, we've never had filthy cars. The kids were never allowed to eat in them, only drank water in them when DH was around. They have never, ever got in in dirty football/rugby boots.

It's a personal thing, I think. DH uses his for work, if he got in and sat in some chocolate, or got mud on his uniform he would be incredibly pissed off. I don't want to get in my car and have to dodge stuff all over the seats, etc, I just want to get in and go. The kids are now the same with their own cars.

chipshop · 08/01/2015 17:30

DP's car is disgusting. About ten takeaway coffee cups, banana skins, apple cores, KFC packets, empty water bottles, sweet wrappers, newspapers, golf crap, you name it, it's in there at the moment.

DP's office upstairs is the same - it's full of dust, papers, coffee cups, wrappers and god knows what. It makes me feel sneezy if I go in there.

DP loses everything but can't understand why? Hmm

My car is spotless. The rest of the house is spotless. It would be the opposite if DP lived on his own.

WiseKneeHair · 08/01/2015 17:32

My house is clean the clean was there today
My car is cleanish as it only takes me to and from work.
My DH's car is filthy, inside and out, as he drives thousands of miles and has to visit building sites.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/01/2015 17:34

I'm chuckling at the mental image of a convertible car losing takeaway cups, crisp packets etc as it speeds down the duel carriageway Grin

My car was a tip, it got so bad that fb said he thought I'd been hiring it out as a skip. I finally cleaned it out today. My house is always reasonably clean and tidy though.

fluffymouse · 08/01/2015 17:35

My house is a lot cleaner than my car keeps on saying I will clean the car tomorrow
