No, i don't.

Do you mean the inside of the car specifically OP?

My house is spotlessly clean but my car is often muddy on the outside as we live in the countryside. There's often hay and mud on the car carpet as DD3 rides. The inside our car is nicer in the summer as it's more pleasant to be out there hoovering it when the weathers nice.

My DHs white van is covered in cementy mud as he works on site. The inside of it has to be seen to be believed. EVERY bit of it is the same cement brown. Steering wheel, dashboard, floor, gear stick, seats, everything. He has to clean a bum sized spot before i'll sit in it Grin

madwoman that is not the case for my mum.

She has a full time job, goes dancing once a week, she has a fantastic social life.

My house is clean and reasonably tidy. My car is filthy inside and out - mostly from living in the country and walking dogs in all weathers. Yes I could clean it twice per week to keep it clean (that is what it would need to stay tip top) but what an utter waste of time and energy that would be

She doesn't just go dancing once a week.. she also goes to restaurants and the theatre etc.

I would prefer to be remembered for something other than having a clean car and an immaculate house! The car is awful. The house less so. No need for Kim and Aggie quite yet!

My car must get washed, oh, about once a year. I don't like the thing. My house is clean and except for the tendency for books to accumulate on tables, at the bottom of stairs, tidy.

I have a filthy car - it's a way of getting from a to b. I don't care about it.

I have clean house - I love my house and want it to look nice and be comfortable.

No, I think people who have dirty cars have great sex lives, and people with clean cars don't... There's simply not the time for both.

My car is filthy inside and out tbh. Two dogs, and a very outdoors lifestyle where we jump back in the car after woodland walks/ cycling on trails, plus a lot of business miles adds up.

My house is cleaner, but we have a cleaner once a week, hard floors and leather sofas so it is easier to clean

My house is clean, and mostly tidy. My car certainly is not.

I live at the end of an unmade track which is full of potholes, puddles and mud, so the outside is filthy. It's pointless cleaning it, the minute I leave the driveway it's covered again. I live near the beach so come summer it's always covered in a fine layer of sand.

Inside is probably as filthy as the outside. I have a hairy dog with a liking for thick, black mud, sand and water.

I cleaned it out on Saturday as I had to give a friend a lift and it was, quite frankly, embarrassing. 4 dog walks, copious amount of rain and mud and a dropped bowl of dry (thankfully) cocopops later and it's a pit again

I wash the outside of the car once a year, at the end of salted and gritted roads season. I do clean the lights regularly though. I binbag the passenter footwell when the sea of sandwich bags and takeaway coffee cups reaches tsunami levels. Otherwise, since my car is used almost exclusively for professional dogwalking - and a lot of the dogs are labs and spaniels, and we live and work locally - I just wash the seat covers and the vet bed blankets when they get really bad.

As for the house, the kitchen and loos are good, and you can see the carpet in the sitting room and sit on a sofa without encountering anything too nasty. But I'd prefer not to talk about any of the bedrooms, either the teenagers or our own...

My car is clean inside because (a) I don't have a dog/dogs and (b) don't have kids now and (c) my adult children don't live with me somewhat smug. The outside is cleanish but needs washed regularly due to dirty winter roads etc. OP, I think you are unreasonable to assume dirty cars equal dirty houses (my house is very clean too due to above three reasons only).

The outside of my car is filthy as I travel along wet, muddy country lanes every day.

My home is stupidly neat, tidy and people say is clinically clean.
So no, there is no parallel between a dirty home and car.

My house is fine thank you. My car is filthy, I live rurally and near the coast, high winds, salty atmosphere and mud, cow dung, sheep, deer, rabbits, rats, mice, pheasants all take their toll. If I cleaned my car every morning, it would be mucky every evening, particularly in winter.

The opposite is certainly not true!

DH spends bloody hours cleaning the car. He is like a big kid. He has about 15 different lotions and potions and, sadly, has a toothbrush for the wheels.

sigh...

The house is filthy.

My home is tidy and clean, boarding on ocd.

My car is muddy on the outside. I live in county lanes and at this time of year the roads are caked in mud. It's ok on the inside, not really clean, but no rubbish on the floor.

I do wash my car at the car wash, but by the time I'm home I have a new layer of mud on the car! Grin

Car a tip: dirty outside (muddy lanes), grubby within (thanks, dogs), complete with crisp packets etc (thanks, DH).

House reasonably tidy and reasonably clean.

With the exception of BIL's wife who is uncomfortably pristine at all times and has a show home and show room clean car, everyone I know with a manky car has a really tidy house.
One Mum from schools car is rancid, one window is covered in dried on barbecue sauce inside and it is littered with old food wrappings and the odd dirty nappy. Her house is absolutely spotless.

Stinkle · 08/01/2015 16:57

I just can't be arsed to clean it.

It's just a thing I use to get me to different places.

I do remove the sweet wrappers/takeaway boxes/empty drink bottles though - I have a convertible and the first time I put the roof down half a tonne of crap flew out of it when I hit 60 on the dual carriageway Blush

My car is filthy outside and a bit filthy inside. My house is pretty clean. I absolutely do not see the point of cleaning a car - it lives outside in the dirty rain and splashes through puddles all day. Then I park it under a tree with a flock of pooping birds in it. But I don't then drive it into my living room and eat my dinner off the bonnet. What's the point of cleaning it?
