To inform them all (probably leave Dh out of the round robin) that I do not want to have sex with them unless and until further formal notice from me?

As it seems that there is such confusion among so many people about the nature of consent I want to avoid putting any of them in the terribly awkward position of wondering whether simply being in the same room as them means they are invited to stick their dick in me.
So is that an unreasonable proposition?

OP posts:

Those who are missing the OP's point so spectacularly are also inadvertently making her point for her

And it shouldn't be hard to understand that asking people not to do something that it totally wrong and they would never do might upset some people. And I said "People" not men, because this is one of the reasons why many women can't identify as a feminist. You may think their opinions are wrong, but they still have them.

And to those who will come on and say "But you don't get the point the OP was making", You don't get the point that many people including myself are making, and feminism gets pushed into a niche and gets ridiculed or ignored by more people.

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:02

morning Buffy! Hope you are both well?Grin

Well quite Tiggy - it;s a serious issue just couched in a manner that's open to ridicule, and that's what appears to have happened a fair bit. I'd think most of us 'got the joke' and went along with it for a while. Outside of that, it's just entertainment anda chance to be Shocked for those in the rad fem bubble.

MaMa - am I getting 'creepy'? Okaaay. Quite a thing to say though.

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:05

and to be clear and re-iterate, I do not wish any exchange of secretions with the OP. One less stamp. hth

This thread here is about a letter that gets sent out automatically to all parents whose child's attendance slips below a certain level. 'It's aimed at parents who don't care about attendance' people are told. 'Just ignore it if it doesn't apply to you' people are told. Just like on this thread.

Pan, for absolutely no reason you decided that amanda, who has been around for a while, was Buffy.

Why?

TiggyD · 10/01/2015 11:33

Many people who don't do bad things get upset if you tell them not to do bad things.

Like in that thread I posted.

Being told it doesn't apply to you doesn't help.

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:35

oh I didn't 'decide' the OP was Buffy Yonic - I'd read somewhere ^ there that the OP was a name-changer from FWR, so I was being curious/playful as to who the 'I am Spartacus' character was. At one point I was going to out myself as the OP Hmm......by that time the debate was just about running it's course I'd thought. I don't think Buffy herself was too alarmed by it. (talking as if she wasn't 'here', sorry).

MaMaMarmoset · 10/01/2015 11:37

Yoni don't be silly there couldn't possibly be two women in the world who would disagree with the very sensible Pan.

We are all Buffy's puppets.

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:38

True MaMa - anyways about that 'creepy' thing?

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:41

though......strictly I was positing Buffy as a name changer, not sock puppetry, as at that point she hadn't actually posted. Crucial distinction in the circs.Hmm

BuffysSockPuppet · 10/01/2015 11:44

about the creepy thing?

I have been off MN for months but last I was here you were following her on to random threads to have a pop. You are now outing imaginary name changes. It's creepy and obsessive. You're one of those men who are really happy about feminism as dictated by men but anytime you lose a bit of control your actual personality shows through. Buffy really is one our most reasonable posters and that you have such an issue with her is really Confused to me.

I'm happy to stand by my "creepy" comment.

YonicSleighdriver · 10/01/2015 11:44

Oh, it was a joke ?

Gotta say, I read it as you thinking Buffy had name changed .

If you make a meta observation about people missing jokes now, I'll be disappointed.

I think that was just a non-specific put down to give anything you say less weight Pan. Standard debate technique.

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:49

I think you're not up to speed MaMa - it was I who was indicating Buffy was seeking me out to have 'pops' at - and indicated so, something like 'it's like being menaced by a fervent priest'. Apols for having to refer back to that. fwiw I'm happy for feminism most of the time, in or out of my control.
And I'm happy you are happy to stand by the 'creepy' thing. Best with that.

YonicSleighdriver · 10/01/2015 11:51

So if your interpretation is that Buffy is seeking you out, why use her name?

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:51

possibly Tiggy

good luck with the rest of the thread - off to do things with dd whilst it isn't pissing down.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2015 11:53

[yawn]

TheOfficialPan · 10/01/2015 11:53

Yonic - it was months ago, and so far as I was concerned it was past.

Still a very odd choice, Pan.
