To ask if anyone's child DIDNT get sick loads from nursery and school?

DS starts tomorrow. He doesn't really need to go as such, but I thought it would be good for him so I do have choice here.

He's rarely sick and recovers quick - I on the other hand have spent Dec/jan unwell with a day or 2 here or there being ok ish in between

Is it ALWAYS the rule that they get sick tons at first? Hmm

Please someone tell me of their magical unicorn child who continued to not get sick after starting nursery?!

since dd started preschool (she's now in reception so 2 years) she's had 2 sickness bugs and 3 high temps/colds bad enough to stay off school.

Tbh it's better getting it Over with in pre school than.at school and getting letters about attendance.

He may or may not get sick. loads. Dd didn't excessively. but it will happen visiting crowded places getting in full buses etc it's not something unique to pre school.

I wouldn't worry about it tbh

Both my dc have only ever picked up one bug from school/nursery.

Coughs and colds, one go of conjunctivitis, but nothing else.
Our pre-school and school are very strict on the 48 hour rule after v & d.
We even avoided the HFM outbreak, but that may have been luck, and not bring invited to the party of the fist victim!

But after 4 terms of preschool, and one in reception, my daughter has not picked up any icky bugs.
Now I am going to touch wood, and keep my fingers crossed!

Mine didn't. Both at high school now. The odd sniffle or bug but fairly healthy throughout school.
Can't be too smug though - we got completely bashed by headlice infestations! Grin

DD is nearly 2, in nursery since 6 weeks old. She gets the odd sniffle but only ever had 1 sickness bug. Never had a proper full-on nasty cold. Avoided the chicken pox / HFM which went round too.

DS1 had time off but he was prone to tonsillitis, and tends to like a duvet day if he can get away with it.
DD has never missed a day of school (now yr 3), and I don't recall her getting ill much at nursery
DS2 caught a few snotty colds from nursery, but only off once or twice for a day here and there, hasn't missed any school.

They did however, get NITS.

My DD has about a 1 or 2 days every year with a illness enough to keep her of school. A cough or cold is never enough to keep her off school as she just cracks on with it. I always get sicker than she does.

DD has been in nursery since one and in reception since Sept. She has only ever caught chicken pox and I don't recall her being ill with anything else.

DS has been in nursery for a year and has never been sick.

I expect it depends on the child though.

DS caught chicken pox in his first term at pre-school and has made it through to now in Reception with only one other bug.

DD has been at Nursery for a few months and has had 1 day off with a high temperature.

My DH has a very good immune system and I think they both have it - I have had flu, colds and all sorts in this time!

DD has only ever had the nits once and that was when she was 6. She also avoided CP until she 6 too.

Toddler has been at nursery part time for 15 months and has not missed a day through illness. She's 2 and doesn't seem to get ill apart from the usual minor snotty nose/coughs. She does seem quite hardy compared to some other kids I know though. Hopefully she's got a quite good immune system and she's not stacking it up for when she starts school!

Mine didn't, I've 2 at primary school and one in nursery school & bar the chickenpox which they all got in a 2 week period they've not really been bothered by bugs, upset tummies, d&v etc. No nits either. I am obviously now touching wood and blessing myself as I'm aware I've probably cursed myself!!

Nursery, preschool and primary were fine.

My two got the odd cold, but avoided a lot of the DV bugs. Don't know why, except I'm not the most house proud of DM's and they are used to a bit of grim.

It's secondary school that's thrown DD2. She's just tipped the boundary for a sarcastic attendance letter in Y7 and 8 and has had a week of this November too. She never got near getting one at primary, despite breaking her arm twice and having time off for fracture clinic.

My suspicion is that hormones changes just before and after starting her periods and stupidly early mornings/long days both conspire to make the winter term hard work.

DS never had a day off nursery I'll and has had one day off in P1 and is now in P3 and hasn't had one since.

DD in nursery for 2 years now and has never been off sick.

I think it depends on the nursery. DD1 caught loads in the beginning. The younger 3 didn't and I'm convinced it's partly because we moved house and the new nursery was super strict on the 48 hr d&V rule (and would send parents back home with children who were obviously ill) whereas in the first nursery bugs seemed to go round and round the place repeatedly with an acceptance of 'all kids get ill'.

My children never got more than the odd sniffle from nursery. They got chicken pox, but that is inevitable at some point. And they've never had nits, they're teenagers now.

My 3 have hardly ever had a day off pre-school or school in the last 6 years (since DS1 started pre-school) - except for a chicken pox bout, and DD's grommet operations (but at least you know about an op in advance).

They've never had nits either.

DD (now 9) and DS (now 7) never caught a single bug from nursery. No snotty noses - nada.

They have also probably only ever had 2 days off each from school with sickness.

But nits? Fuck me - Every. Bastard. Term

I'm lucky, got 1 at nursery and 1 at school neither have ever picked up anything.

Neither of my DSs had a day off nursery. DS1 started aged 3.4 and DS2 was just 13 months. They went full time. Now 10&8 and still very healthy. I feel very lucky.
