I thought her drink was spiked?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 18:44

Gator....

No, she wondered if it had been when she woke up naked and alone in a hotel room, having urinated over herself, with no idea how she had got there. The blood tests showed she hadn't, although they were done outside the time limits for finding the most common ones in her system iirc.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 07/01/2015 18:44

Oh and then i missed out that in the tiny, tiny chance it got to court, if your ds had 'normal' sex (ie met her more than 120 seconds beforehand, no breaking into hotel rooms or sneaking out via the fire escape...), odds are hugely in his favour that he would not be convicted.

Grovel, I think it would be difficult to prosecute a case where there were no witnesses or other circumstantial evidence.

Ched Evans' supporters would like his case to be comparable to your example, but there was other evidence - circumstantial, from bystanders, even CE's own account of the night - it wasn't a simple case of he said, she said.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 07/01/2015 18:51

In fact, clayton mcdonald is a perfect example of the probable worst that would happen.

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 18:56

Of course CE can get another job - inevitably that would be his future anyway. Nobody would care or know what he did - just as long as it doesn't involve thousands of fans cheering on an unrepentant, victim blaming, convicted rapist who still hasn't served his sentence.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 07/01/2015 18:58

Yes beyond there has been quite a lot of 'it could happen to your son, how would you feel then' on twitter and even Colleen Nolan implied something along the lines of 'if it were my daughter I would feel gutted and want justice, but at the same time if it were my son...' Seeming to imply that it could happen to him as well.

Again all this does is normalise this sort of behaviour, and imply that Ched Evans was unlucky enough to 'shag thw wrong slag' or whatever.

I can categorically state that if my son ever behaved in the way that Ched Evans (and his brother for that matter) did that night, I would 100% know that I had utterly failed as a parent.

YonicSleighdriver · 07/01/2015 19:05

I think it is an excellent idea to teach that if you have any doubts about your partner's capacity for consent, just stop. You can always have sex in the morning, if you want to then.

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 19:19

In similar circs you teach your sons that they could say

"You've got a bird? You picked her up at the kebab shop and she was all over the pavement? You idiot!! Put her in a cab and send her home and make sure she gets in - OK?"

Jux · 07/01/2015 19:22

Interestingly, Elfycat's link on the other thread which listed all the sponsors of OAFC no longer shows the sponsors. You have to register your interest now.

Presumably an attempt at damage limitation, do you think? Cowardice? Wish I'd saved a copy of that page yesterday. Anyone got one?

grovel · 07/01/2015 19:23

Thanks all. As I said above I don't think DS (23) is into casual sex, let alone drunken casual sex. I've certainly advised him that sex with a drunk girl is a bad idea.

TrojanWhore · 07/01/2015 19:27

Interesting BBC link avbocr. Only 80% sure they'll sign? Legal issues to overcome?

This whole episode has been one big series of leaks from OA and their sponsors. Why?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 19:29

Jux..

I'll ask a fellow agitator if she has a list Grin

clam · 07/01/2015 19:40

The good thing about Verlin backing out of sponsorship (with a measured public statement given), is that it shows up all the other sponsors who might remain. Good.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 07/01/2015 19:41

Their FB page is just message after message against it.

VikingVolva · 07/01/2015 19:45

Haven't Mecca bingo said they'll be cutting ties too?

Anyone know Nandos position?

The chairman of Sports Direct owns NUFC (and Rangers?) and is widely disliked at St James Park. Total disdain for fans.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 19:48

KiaUK, Pentagon Group Manchester, O2 Business UK, Sports ID, Revolution 96.2 radio, Fosters UK, Talking Point, GreenCare Pest Control, Eden Creative UK, Oldham College, Safeguard Group, PolyFlor Ltd, Nandos UK, NMU, Remidian IT Solutions, Latics Driving, Intersystems, Staffline Group, Clayton Park Bakery, Latics Travel, Alexican, Biffa, Sherriff Amenity, Oldham Shopping.

All either sponsor or are involved with the running of the club.

clam · 07/01/2015 19:50

Articles I'm seeing now seem to be saying it's not yet a done deal - probably, but not 100%. Is that right?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 19:50

And SondicoUK

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 19:50

Yes, it's now 80%

So, still 20% decent human....

Icimoi · 07/01/2015 20:00

Malice, Usually, Pffvino, I think what really sticks in the gullets of most of the people on this thread - and, I suspect, most people who have signed the petition - is the way the victim has been treated coupled with CE's failure to condemn that or dissociate himself from it and his total lack of recognition of what he did. Do you seriously think that opposing his getting a role model job in those circumstances amounts to hounding him?

clam · 07/01/2015 20:03

Just seen this (in the Mail Blush "Despite the conviction his victim has been persistently hounded by trolls, who have named her online and forced her to take on several new identities. "

TrinityRhino · 07/01/2015 20:06

The original Portofino would like it to be made clear that she is not PortofinoVino.

Thank you

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 20:08

Trinity...

Thanks, I was slightly concerned for a moment, until someone pointed that out. Poor Portofino Sad
