Actually I don't believe I am being unreasonable. But wanted to bring it to attention.

MN seems to be a quiet on this today but I think the fight should still go on. I can't link to it as I am so not tech savvy enough but it is on change.org. (Same person whk set up the Sheffield Weds one so of you sogned that one it is pretty easy to locate).Already has over 9000 signatures so please please please continue to sign and share!

important detail - he isn't on parole, he is on a standard determinate release licence where he is released atthe half way stage of sentence to serve the rest in the community, under conditions.
One of those conditions is to do nothing to compromise the objective of supervision (usually protection of the public). IF he uses his web site to cause furhter distress to his victim then he is eligible for recall.

engeika · 05/01/2015 11:12

None of this is doing the victim any favours at all.

He has aggressively victim blamed and collaborated with people who have deliberately harmed the victim.

His claims of innocence don't carry any weight and there is no way that any of his behaviour on the night can be portrayed in a positive light. No new evidence has come to light.

The best he can do is apologise and make an effort to make amends for all the harm he has done.

Footballers don't receive huge amounts of money for kicking a ball around, they receive huge amounts of money because they are entertainers. Just like any other entertainer, having lost his reputation he should find another line of work.

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 05/01/2015 11:16

I suppose I think (or falsely hope) that people would lose interest if the media stopped reporting and that the victim would have a chance to get back to some kind of normality. All of the people who have named her or campaigned against her should be arrested and charged. All of the websites should be promptly taken down. The media should stop reporting anything on the case. Media blackouts are not uncommon and I do believe that they would help. I think it will be nigh on impossible to stop CE hardcore supporters from seeking out the victim and making her life a misery but I think it could be vastly reduced by having a media blackout and promptly charging those found to be harassing or intimidating the victim.
I haven't seen any of these websites as I refuse to click on them. The posts I have made on here is the only discussion I have had on the case outside of ones with my DH. I did read some case notes on a legal website (not linked to CE in any way), so I have some understanding of the case but this is the most thought I have given it.

YonicSleighdriver · 05/01/2015 11:18

Nine or ten people on twitter were fined for naming her. They were also named.

They had to pay £624 each.

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 05/01/2015 11:20

Thanks officialplan. I wasn't aware that it wasn't called parole. It sounds like the terms of the early release are similar though and that he can be recalled if found to be not adhering to the conditions of his early release?

YonicSleighdriver · 05/01/2015 11:22

"None of this is doing the victim any favours at all."

If I was his victim, I would take some comfort from the public outcry, from the actions of Jessica Ennis-Hill etc. She may feel like me or more like you. Who knows.

thewizenedone · 05/01/2015 11:22

Housewherenobody lives thankyou for your analysis of my post and mindset. If I offended anyone on here with my opinion it was most honestly not my intent. I have (albeit with hindsight! ) looked at some of the plethora of articles etc regarding the case and the fact there were two defendants, but different verdicts.

YonicSleighdriver · 05/01/2015 11:23

Glad you have found out more, wizened.

wanttosqueezeyou · 05/01/2015 11:31

Me too Yonic. If it wasn't for the public outcry you could start to believe that Evans, his website and supporters were representative of public opinion. But they aren't.

Can't imagine how she feels, but the outcry it is certainly comforting that people have found a voice and are speaking out about what is unacceptable. (not just people with rich Father in laws to set up websites etc)

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 05/01/2015 11:35

I think I am going to stick with threads on arts and crafts and lighthearted stuff because I don't think I am up to speed enough to deal with the serious issues on this thread.
It was nice that even though I stated I wasn't going to sign the petition nobody shouted at me or accused me of anything.
It was an eye opener.

TheOfficialPan · 05/01/2015 11:35

There are differing responses whether someone is on parole, or on St Determinate release licence when it comes to recall. I could type on this until your eyes bleed

YonicSleighdriver · 05/01/2015 11:38

St Determinate, the patron saint of definitiveness?

Grin
TheOfficialPan · 05/01/2015 11:38

Signed.

Then RTFT

Why are so many people comfortable with being sceptical about rape convictions? Even to the point of saying so publicly, presuming this that and the other, without even reading about the case??

Ched Evans cannot be rehabilitated because he still has not apologized or admitted to what he has done!!

So until he has done that how can he be accepted back into the footballing world. Looks like Oldham may pull out...lets hope.

LineRunner · 05/01/2015 12:08

25,364.

Oldham reconsidering.

Aberchips · 05/01/2015 12:11

Signed - his behaviour since his conviction and his lack of remorse are shocking.

Twenty6 · 05/01/2015 12:12

I've read about the case. I shan't be signing the petition. Having seen it for myself I know juries can make major errors of judgement in serious cases involving significant harm to the person. I'm not convinced of the rectitude of the decision on Evans and I'm unwilling to put my name to a call to further punish this man.

I respect that other people see the case differently and have come to the alternative conclusion.
