I work for a company that sublets to various businesses on a fairly large site,

Today one of our directors, who is reasonably wealthy, pulled a gag on the lady that runs the onsite cafe that involved a 25k fake scratch card.

She isn't wealthy, and spent 20 mind or so phoning her family and friends offering to treat them before my pathetic boss laughed at her for falling for the joke.

Aibu is this a particularly cuntish thing to just before Christmas?

Poor woman cried she was so disappointed/embarrassed. Angry

I have no idea yet what banter/ revenge is going to look like, but if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them, preferably in a similar vein to his big 'joke' Angry

Go to the newspaper. Don't give his name or anything, just tell the story of what a mean thing he's done. Then set up a fundme account for her. I bet you could raise £25,000 in no time.

He'd by really pissed that she got all the money, and there'd be loads of comments about what a dick he is.

QuinnTwinny · 21/12/2014 01:31

What. A. Cock.

patienceisvirtuous · 21/12/2014 06:59

I like Sue's idea. I'd donate!!

DoubleValiumLattePlease · 21/12/2014 07:04

I like Sue's idea. I'd also donate. And in a way that would be the ultimate revenge so I say DO IT!

StarDustMonkey · 21/12/2014 07:17

Ditto, I like Sue's idea, and would donate

Aussiemum78 · 21/12/2014 07:26

Tell him the tax office rang to confirm his employment, job title and salary (are you payroll?).

Also his home address, etc. does he rent? What car does he drive? Does he travel abroad?

Look worried. Say I've heard they do this when they suspect tax evasion. Let it hang. Look sympathetic.

bigjimsdiamondmine · 21/12/2014 07:29

yanbu, twat Angry I've seen these cards advertised, the "joke" ones, and always thought they looked unnecessarily cruel. but I always imagined they were something you'd do with your mates down the pub, with people on the same 'banter' wave length. How he's done it is completely nasty, not even a bit funny, just plain nasty and bullying, actually taking amusement in someone else's suffering that he's caused. Sad and this close to Xmas, complete crap. If I were you I'd be trying to think of ways to restore said ladies faith in humanity, rather than focus on the twat, as unfortunately there is not much you can do if he's the boss! I wonder if there would be something kind you could do, that wouldn't be patronizing, and wouldn't let on that you know about the card?

CaptainAnkles · 21/12/2014 07:30

What a nasty trick. Angry
I hate all this 'banter' stuff. Two people having a laugh equally by mildly teasing each other = banter. One person treating another like shit and laughing at them is just cuntyness.

bigjimsdiamondmine · 21/12/2014 07:30

x post with sue. that's a good idea!

Shenanagins · 21/12/2014 07:37

Can you send an email to the big boss notifying him of this and the reputational damage it has brought to the company as the woman will now have had to tell said friends and family that it was a practical "joke" from company X director.

NormaStits · 21/12/2014 07:39

Sue's idea is fantastic, do that!

But also do the fake 'daddy' Christmas card... Go on, you know you want to!

halfwildlingwoman · 21/12/2014 07:41

I hate this. I am really fucking sick of the word 'banter' being used to excuse bullying. And I hate practical jokes anyway. Nasty nasty man.

GingerbreadPudding · 21/12/2014 07:44

I love sues idea too. What a heartless, arrogant bastard. It's the opposite of what Christmas should be about and I hope he's deeply ashamed of himself. Reminds me of The Office where David Brent 'sacks' Dawn as a joke. Really nasty, horrible man.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 21/12/2014 07:45

That is disgraceful, he should be ashamed.

Pantone363 · 21/12/2014 07:47

Hate these things. Quite a few clips on YouTube of people being 'pranked' with them.

JamNan · 21/12/2014 07:49

Disciplinary action and a public apology.
What a cruel trick to play on someone.

MrsGeorgeMichael · 21/12/2014 07:50

I love Sues idea - i'd donate!

whois · 21/12/2014 07:51

Wow. What a wanker.

londonrach · 21/12/2014 07:53

Love suns idea. What a horrible man. Karma will hit him big! That poor lady.

londonrach · 21/12/2014 07:54

Sue not suns

sandgrown · 21/12/2014 07:54

A friend lost his job over office "banter". It was nothing on the scale of this but the tribunal judge said there was no such thing as banter it was simply inappropriate behaviour!

paperlace · 21/12/2014 07:54

I am so shocked that people could actually do this to someone?

Christmas Cunt indeed.

I genuinely wouldn't plot revenge, you could get in hot water and I bet you will regret it.

As an aside no way would I donate to that fund for the cafe owner!!!! My money goes to charities for people in crisis this time of year, no matter what a horrible trick was played on her.

Moglimoo · 21/12/2014 07:55

I am furious on this woman's behalf. I would make sure the whole company knows about this, then let group outrage shame him. What an arsehole!

Singsongmama · 21/12/2014 07:55

Same as everyone else - what a knob - so cruel! I'd donate - that'd teach him!!
