I work for a company that sublets to various businesses on a fairly large site,

Today one of our directors, who is reasonably wealthy, pulled a gag on the lady that runs the onsite cafe that involved a 25k fake scratch card.

She isn't wealthy, and spent 20 mind or so phoning her family and friends offering to treat them before my pathetic boss laughed at her for falling for the joke.

Aibu is this a particularly cuntish thing to just before Christmas?

Poor woman cried she was so disappointed/embarrassed. Angry

I think if I was her, then a lot worse than my spit would be finding it's way into his sandwich. Very stupid to piss off someone who prepares your food.

That's just so horribly awful.

You never know what that kind of money could potentially mean to someone. Sad

Tobyjugg · 21/12/2014 00:30

Whatever you do, do NOT eat there in his company in the future.

IloveOreossx · 21/12/2014 00:31

Thats very very cruel :( 25,000 is obviously lifechanging to someone like her, She sounds a very lovely woman to have thought immediately of friends of family than of herself when she thought she had won 25k, the world can be a terribly cruel place....

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 21/12/2014 00:32

I would send him a text saying have "you heard from X? She didn't go home last night, turns out she's got really big financial problems and thought the scratch card was the answer to her prayers"

CatWreathkeith · 21/12/2014 00:33

I have a good idea, she is the most hard working woman I know, fled a long term dv relationship 3 years ago and has worked her arse off to have her own business.
Lives in a mobile home while she rebuilds her life at 50....

I am getting madder by the moment, time to leave the Wine alone I think.Hmm

Bet he wouldn't have played this bit of "banter" on a man.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 21/12/2014 00:34

itiswhatitis good idea. I'd do something like that.

HungerKunstler · 21/12/2014 00:36

Not remotely funny, especially coming up to Christmas when people have a lot of bills to pay and may be struggling to afford it all. Poor woman.

Hope those two thoughtless wankers get what's coming to them some day.

CatWreathkeith · 21/12/2014 00:39

Anyone up for some mn revenge in the new year if I can think of something suitable.

I am so AngrySad on cafe lady's behalf!

Poor woman. I hope the karma fairy does exist and that she gets an enormous windfall.

Then she can pay someone to exact revenge. It'd be the type of thing is never forget, and my revenge would most definitely be served cold......

CatWreathkeith · 21/12/2014 00:40

I'm thinking wind up customer phone calls btw, not anything as nasty as he has pulled!

Diving that's an odd statement. Are you really suggesting that men don't bully other men in the workplace in similarly idiotic ways to this? I can report that this is very definitely not the case. This guy is an utter jerk, but they come in all forms, genders and so on. This is bullying and it should be dealt with as such. It was an obviously upsetting, wicked trick to play which was also utterly embarrassing. No excuse for that - it should result in disciplinary action.

foslady · 21/12/2014 00:43

Wow - that is a new kind of absolute bastard low. And he laughed.

If his office is closed over the holidays definitely fill any hiding holes with prawns for more 'banter' in the new year.

Beyond anger comes to mind.

CatWreathkeith · 21/12/2014 00:43

UncleT I agree with disciplinary action, sadly my nice big boss is away til mid jan but I intend to let him know all about it!

Tempting though revenge would be (and just taking up a load of his time with fake interest in buying a car from him would be a start) I think you should keep it straight - go to the ultimate boss, say that 'banter' is something along the lines of 'I'll buy you all a drink - oops forgot my wallet' (and verbal btw, not a practical joke) and that the level of deception here was quite cruel.

Why would she have known it was a fake scratch card? Does he enjoy using deception to feel better than others? Don't ever buy a car from him, but DO go to lovely lady and buy food from her, if you can afford it.

ReginaBlitz · 21/12/2014 00:50

out of intrest how do you fake a scratch card win?!

CatWreathkeith · 21/12/2014 00:50

Apparently he offered yesterday to buy the scratch cards, and took them in today.

I always buy my lunch from her, but only work 2 days per week.

Charitybag · 21/12/2014 00:51

Cat, count me in for some help with your 'banter'. It would be my pleasure to assist in teaching that wicked bastard a lesson.

That poor woman and all she's been through. Picking herself up and working hard to make a life for herself only to be kicked in the teeth by that twat.

I'm a tad annoyed by the situation AngryAngry
