Outdoing others at Christmas

I have several friends giving daily updates of their (frankly ridiculous) lists and generally getting quite braggy about what they have bought their children. I put a photo on Facebook of our tree and was almost immediately met with questions about how many of them are for DS, what they are and how much I had spent. I also ended up looking on netmums, because of a few comments from here, am I am gobsmacked at the blatant bragging!

AIBU to feel sad that christmas is pretty much turning into a pissing contest for some people?

How can you have presents under the tree on 15th December when Santa doesn't bring them until Christmas Eve when the kids are all asleep?? How to confuse children in one easy lesson!!

I know how much my dad spent on my brother and I over 30 years ago...because he wrote it all down, for years!!

I'm doing the same, Christ knows why Hmm

granny

Santa doesn't bring the presents grand dad bought the children

And once I've wrapped the presents for other people they go under the tree until it's time to hand them out

I will be serving roast peacock- does that outdo everyone? If not I will be serving a roast peacock inside a swan (bird in a bird).

We haven't even got the tree up yet let alone having the presents wrapped and underneath it! Tree goes up this weekend and presents go under it on Christmas morning once we all crawl out of our pits and have breakfasted.

QuinnTwinny, I had never looked at Netmums until reading on here about this Christmas present boasting, and I totally agree with you that it is bizarre.

I was amazed at some of the photos with not one set of Lego, but half a dozen, and the way in which the piles of garish boxes were piled up so carefully to maximise the effect of over abundance.

Thank God nothing like this on my FB.
