Apologies for posting here but the Avon and Somerset police are running an urgent appeal for the safe return of Bristol mum Charlotte Bevan and her four day old baby, who have gone missing from a central Bristol maternity unit and haven't been seen for over 12 hours. PLEASE keep an eye out for her and phone the police if you see her - she's white, around 5'8, dark hair, wearing a black top, black trousers and hospital slippers or flip flops. Her baby is wrapped in a stripey blanket.

Hoping and praying for a safe return sad

slithytove · 04/12/2014 16:14

This is just devastating. That poor baby. She didn't even get a chance at life.

Its so fucking heartbreakingly cruel.

CherryLips1980 · 04/12/2014 16:16

Sad RIP Charlotte & Zaani.

SagaNorensSnowflakeTrousers · 04/12/2014 16:20

So very sad. RIP Charlotte and Zaani. Thanks

AcrossthePond55 · 04/12/2014 16:24

So tragic. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family and partner.

My prayers also go out to anyone struggling with mental or emotional difficulties and to their families. Peace to you all.

RIP Mummy and Baby.

BeHoHoHove · 04/12/2014 16:25

Such a sad story. In the picture she looks like she is gazing at the baby Sad

awaywego1 · 04/12/2014 16:27

So so sad. I work in mental health and it really brings home how much support pregnant women need if they have preexisting conditions.
My thoughts are with her friends and family x

girliefriend · 04/12/2014 16:28

Have found this news so upsetting.

The mother must have been desperate Sad and her poor baby girl.

Heartbreaking.

KnitFastDieWarm · 04/12/2014 16:33

It's just awful. I have depression and I've been close to that place with my own mental health, and it makes me feel physically sick to think of another fellow human being suffering in that way. I wouldn't wish mental health problems on my worst enemy.

I hope Charlotte and her baby have found peace.

I think most women, especially those who have had long and distressing labours, and problems breastfeeding, need more support, as well as those with pre existing mental health conditions. There simply are not enough midwives, let alone mental health provisions, for new mothers in hospital. Unbearably sad.

CynthiaDelgado · 04/12/2014 16:39

Heartbreaking this has really upset me. RIP.

My thoughts are with her partner and family.

I'm struggling to understand why she didn't leave the baby safely behind but I suppose we will never know her reasons.

CrimboHornedSnowflake · 04/12/2014 16:41

The baby has been found too Sad

PinkSquash · 04/12/2014 16:44

RIP Charlotte and Zaani.

I hope they're at peace. Flowers

ShadyMyLady · 04/12/2014 16:46

This is heartbreaking, the poor poor lady.

RIP Charlotte and sweet angel Zaani

raltheraffe · 04/12/2014 16:49

I am actual very angry about this. This woman was still on the ward 4 days after giving birth. Chances are she was waiting for transfer to a MABU. I was told I was very lucky to have got my transfer when I was medically fit. Waiting around on a mat ward for transfer due to funding cuts to mental health services is what I think has happened here. Mat wards have nowhere near the same level of security as in a MABU. Appalling

Wishtoremainunknown · 04/12/2014 16:50

Do we know she was previous MH problems ?

raltheraffe · 04/12/2014 16:54

Yes she was known to mental health and I would not be surprised if social services were involved too

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 04/12/2014 16:58

She was due to be discharged the day after she left anyway so not waiting for transfer anywhere.

Wishtoremainunknown · 04/12/2014 17:02

Ah she was. Just wondering as I hadn't read it anywhere but probably just missed it.

PinkSquash · 04/12/2014 17:03

BBC saying she suffered schizophrenia and depression. Sad

VNad · 04/12/2014 17:03

I am so saddened by this. My heart goes out to them
