Aibu in posting this here, in the hopes that the people of mumsnet let Claridges know how unreasonable they are being?

Sad Sad
sniff!

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey · 03/12/2014 16:07

But it shouldn't be anyone else's concern at all.

If you are a grown up and you don't like it, look away.

It is a feeding child ffs.

As a pp said above, people don't like seeing gay couples or black people, does that mean they shouldn't be able to go about their daily lives??

No I don't give a stuff about what anyone else thinks in this specific situation, because, quite frankly, they are showing a distinct lack of maturity and respect for my childs right to be fed whenever they need it.

Please please explain to me how a grown adults mild discomfort in something that is normal and natural, trumps a childs right to be fed???

As a grown adult you should have enough common sense to just look away.

I am veggie and tbh I really dislike seeing people shovel steak in their faces, but because I am an adult I understand that my personal preference does not trump that persons right to eat what they want, when they want.

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:08

Maybe the offended people could put a nice discreet napkin over their heads so they won't have to sit there watching a woman breastfeed. Like people eating ortolan: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ortolan_bunting

ithoughtofitfirst · 03/12/2014 16:10

Ummm what sexual function do breasts 'perform'? That's absolutely ridiculous. And ffs can we have one of these threads where people don't compare breastfeeding to pissing and shitting? Jesus.

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:11

As someone said upthread, I'd hate to eat in a restaurant run by someone who can't tell the difference between eating and defecation....

HazleNutt · 03/12/2014 16:11

if someone is uncomfortable, why do they have to actually 'watch' someone breastfeeding? Are they all paralysed and incapable of moving their heads a little? Why keep staring, once you've figured out what that mother is doing?

Justgotosleepnow · 03/12/2014 16:12

Solid you are wrong:
"Formula is just as good and has all the same nutrients"

No- formula is a terrific backup for babies if their mother is unable to or does not want to breastfeed.

It is inferior food stuff in every way. The milk protein & sugars are designed for baby cows not baby humans. The vitamins and minerals were added in a factory and may not be as digestible. There are no antibodies. Every component of formula is designed to replicate breastmilk, but as we don't even know the entire composition of breastmilk yet, formula could not possibly be the same.

Formula is amazing stuff, my dd had gallons of it and she wouldn't be here today without it. But please do not tell others it's just as good. It is not.

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:12

It's the power of the HYPNOBOOBS. Once your eyes have made contact with the whirling areola, you are PARALYZED.

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:14

Also I too think pinkfrocks is just trolling. Ho ho ho, let's rile the silly women and their silly "sacred cow" of being allowed to feed their babies and see how they react to my "banter". IT'S POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD AMIRITE EH.

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey · 03/12/2014 16:16

Grin leedy

If only I had realised earlier that my boobs had such hypnotic powers, the world would have been my oyster (or ortolan!)

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:16

Also now I actually want hypnoboobs. WHO KNOWS WHAT I COULD ACCOMPLISH.

[cackles evilly]

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey · 03/12/2014 16:20

Ah leedy we shall take over the world with our hypnotic breasts. They will bow to us soon!

Justgotosleepnow · 03/12/2014 16:21
Grin
ithoughtofitfirst · 03/12/2014 16:26

Damn i've been breastfeeding for about 5 weeks now and no one has stared at my boobs or even glanced at them. Why don't i have hypnoboobs?

NOT FAIR.

wishmiplass · 03/12/2014 16:30

"What is this mother doing even going out of the house with a baby only twelve weeks old?" Shock

I had DS out at a wedding at 2 days... along with my breasts! Not one person (around 200 there - age range 100 to, well 2 days) had a problem with it.

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:31

Jesus, if I'd had to stay inside for the first twelve weeks with either of my babies I would have gone stark, staring mad (or in the case of my first baby/PND extravaganza, even more stark staring mad than I was already). I didn't realize when you had a baby you also signed up to becoming a hermit.

Scaredycat3000 · 03/12/2014 16:39

Hypnoboobs Grin

Stay in for 12 weeks? WTF. Should I stay at home when I have my period as well? Ask my DP I'd have to marry him first, oh the shame unmarried mother permission to leave the house?

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey · 03/12/2014 16:41

ithought maybe you have a shield of invisibility? Grin

The answer is, of course, that you are clearly not "letting it all hang out" enough.

"Millitant" bfers get em out and wave them around with a fanfare of trumpets in order to offend the most people, don'cha know? Smile

Justgotosleepnow · 03/12/2014 16:44

Oh yeah and we also commit genocide as a sideline dont cha know Confused

wishmiplass · 03/12/2014 16:45

Quote is from DT reader. And, oh he's a sweetheart...

ThereisnoFinWay · 03/12/2014 16:47

"What is this mother doing even going out of the house with a baby only twelve weeks old?"

ha ha I'd missed that cracker.

we were at the park with ds1 when ds2 was 24 hours old!

leedy · 03/12/2014 16:51

I'm sure my boss will understand if I decide to do all the not leaving the house retroactively, right? "Sorry, off home, might offend a Daily Telegraph reader by being a mother out in public".

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey · 03/12/2014 16:51

Justgotosleep Shock

I missed that comment, where was it? wtf was that all about??!

mjmooseface · 03/12/2014 16:53

I haven't had the opportunity to breastfeed yet. So I had no idea that there was a law against discriminating against women breastfeeding! I grew up watching my mum breastfeed my 7 younger brothers and sisters so for me it is the most natural thing in the world to see.

I just can't imagine how it must feel to be told to leave a place or be told to cover up doing the most natural thing a mother can do with her child!

I do hope to be able to breastfeed my next little one and I refuse to feel bad for feeding my baby in public ever! I will challenge anyone who has a problem with it.

I thought it was 2014? People watch all sorts of horrific stuff on the internet and on TV etc and can't handle a woman feeding her baby? Please!

Justgotosleepnow · 03/12/2014 16:55

All the people saying people who breastfeed are 'feminazis' and 'breastapo'
I find those terms highly offensive.

Ironically mostly said by right wing people. Shows how utterly thick they are Sad

I just calling it- feeding my baby.
