Should be able to manage to stand in the right place on cue. Every chuffing week she comes dashing onto the Strictly set after a couple has danced as if it's a surprise that she's required to speak on national tv!!!!!! I dread to think what's she's paid to be so dire.

Cockneys would say "caplls" or something wouldn't they. I'm mouthing it to myself whilst listening to cockney family in hollyoaks. I'm pretty much with Tess on the cupples front though just not the same accent.

Surreyblah · 01/12/2014 18:43

Not a fan but she deserves a medal for presenting alongside the dreadful Bruce!

morningtoncrescent62 · 01/12/2014 18:54

Tbh most female presenters annoy me. That's not because their female but I think because they're still picked on looks rather than skills.

Quite so. I stopped watching a couple of series back because I could no longer bear Brucie (who also said 'they're on their feet' every time as if it was a huge surprise). I was looking forward to seeing Tess and Claudia as a team, and it got me watching again, but I don't think they're cutting it. Still, it's better than the creepy old-man-young-woman combo.

My dream team would be Steph McGovern (love, love, love her on BBC Breakfast) and Josie Lawrence for presenters. I'd also like to have Arlene back again - Bruno seems to have turned into a parody of himself since I last watched, so she could replace him. Or she could have her old spot back in place of the insipid Darcy Bussell.

windchime · 01/12/2014 18:59

I can't stand Tess but I truly despise Holly Willoughby. It is interesting that the very best female presenters are brunettes Smile

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/12/2014 18:59

margot I'm northern and don't have the same cupples finesse as la Daly.

TSSDNCOP · 01/12/2014 19:04

She absolutely cannot go off the autocue. She looks great, and seems very sweet but she's got absolutely no natural on-screen presence.

I too play Daly bingo. If she cannot go off cue, for Christ's sake BBC train her to say some more varied fillers.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2014 19:04

You need to see Mandy Holden on This Morning, her laugh makes Tess's seem absolutely fine.

EZGreen · 01/12/2014 19:06

It IS pronounced 'solsa'...Its a spanish word....Either 'solsa' or 'suhlsa'...but not 'salsa'

TSSDNCOP · 01/12/2014 19:06

Mandy Holden is the reason I am glad I work in the mornings now.

TSSDNCOP · 01/12/2014 19:07

EZ it's not pronounced in the manner of Phyllis of Corrie though. Tess is Phyllis's "before" Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/12/2014 19:08

I must have been saying Salsa incorrectly my entire Spanish speaking life.

Swingball · 01/12/2014 19:08

Oh she's fine. Leave her alone.

We quite liked Marti Caine in our Northern household.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 01/12/2014 19:11

Can't stand either Tess or Claudia, but at least they are better than Marti Caine.

morningtoncrescent62 · 01/12/2014 19:38

I wondered why all the hate for the fantastic star of Tell Me On a Sunday and then realised that my peri-menopausal brain had muddled two different Martis. Marti Webb would be brilliant as host. Come on, Beeb, you know it makes sense!

MargotLovedTom · 01/12/2014 19:49

Oh don't be arsey drbonnieblossom I was just trying to write the word phonetically - if we said it the way it was written it would be "cowplez".

And I simply mentioned cockney as another example of an accent, not as the opposite to northern.

MargotLovedTom · 01/12/2014 19:51

I don't even know why I'm saying 'northern' as if it's one generic accent.

Can't abide her. I'm never going to like her. Wish she'd part with strictly

Itsfab · 01/12/2014 21:08

I think Zoe was perfect. I have really warmed to Claudia but I can not stand Tess. All the looking down but up, incorrect pronunciations of many words and the fact she can't speak off the autocue with any genuineness.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/12/2014 21:10

I think it's a bit off the criticise Tess Daly's accent. It isn't as though she is unintelligible when speaking.

ItsBeginingToLookAlotLikeChris · 01/12/2014 21:12

I cant stand her she is hard and according to many many threads on here a rather horrid person to boot, I dont know why we have to endure her I really cant see the talent.

Lizzylou · 01/12/2014 21:14

I've met Tess and she is lovely, very slender and beautiful and very personable. it was at a park pre-scd and I knew I knew her, but didn't realise who she was until Vernon rocked up. He was nice too.
I know someone who met some of the slebs after Blackpool SCD this year, apparently Zoe was the only one who was very standoffish and rude.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/12/2014 21:17

What was Tess on pre-Strictly?

I knew who she was when it started but can't remember where from

Neverbuyheliumbalonz · 01/12/2014 21:19

Ah I quite like her!

Marti Caine - blast from the past! Didn't she used to present a talent show and then they had a huge board with different coloured lights for a each act, the audience would vote for the favourite act and then the one which got the most lights lit up (so it reached a star at the top?) won? What was that show called?! Off to google......

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/12/2014 21:24

Tess was on SMTV and before that I seem to remember her on something with Chris Evans.
