WIBU to ask the postman to go and get the parcel he left with a neighbour?

Last week the postman left a parcel with a neighbour a few doors away, usually this neighbour refuses all parcels, she makes a huge fuss if she is even asked and our regular postie knows this.
I also have a porch,with a little sign clearly asking parcels to be left there or signed for items to be left next door or taken back to the depot, so I have no idea why they felt the need to leave it with anyone else.

For the last five days I have been around and knocked multiple times a day, I know the neighbour is in as I can see lights and the tv and one evening could even see her through the window but she just ignores the knocking/bell and refuses to answer the door.

Obviously she answers the door to the postman, so WIBU to ask him to go back around and get my parcel when he is on our street tomorrow morning?

YANBU. Ask him and say he (or colleague if regular is bavk) should follow your note and that you've had to go without the parcel for x amount of days now.

I would lurk and spring on her as the postie is at her door, you may have to ask him in advance if he'd ring the bell though.

Isn't it classed as theft if she keeps the parcel?

Your neighbour might be the poster here who a few months ago said that she thought neighbours going round to collect parcels were incredibly rude and that they should just wait until she wanted to go and deliver them.

Put a note through and shout through the door saying you believe she is deliberately witholding an item belonging to you and if she doesn't answer the door or bring the item round within 24 hours you will regard it as a police matter and report accordingly.

Your neighbour is the unreasonable one here. If she had no intention of opening the door to the person the parcel is meant for she should not have accepted it when the postman knocked.

I would pop a note through the door... "Thank you for kindly taking in my parcel. I have knocked a few times to collect it when I thought you were in but I seem to keep missing you. Is there some way that we could arrange a mutually convenient time for me to collect my parcel? Kind regards, WeAreErternal

A note like that should make her realise she's behaving like an idiot and with a bit of luck she'll just bring the parcel over rather than bother to construct a reply.

I assume she's not deaf/hard of hearing? Perhaps she watches out for the postman but can't hear you?

You will probably alarm the postman! Ours has told me that the Royal Mail is supposed to take everything back to the depot. They are legally not allowed to leave post with neighbours. Only couriers can do that. I imagine many postpeople ignore this rule, but it may come back to bite yours if there's any dispute about this parcel.

She lives four houses away, so it's not close enough for me to run out when the postie is at her door tomorrow (if he stops there).

The neighbour is an older lady maybe late 70s, I don't think she is hard of hearing, just very difficult.
If a delivery person knocks on her door she makes a point of coming around to complain about it the next time she sees us leaving the house, she also complains about a lot if other things.

I think your postperson was doing a good job leaving the parcel with a neighbour. I have had a note through my door saying a parcel is with a neighbour who I know is not too well and finds stairs difficult, we both life in first floor flats but different buildings. I always phone him first and fix a convenient time to collect it. Can you phone your neighbour and set a time?

If she does not answer then leave a note with your phone number and ask her to call you and fix a convenient time.

How long ago was it spotty? They only changed it so they could leave things with neighbours recently.

If you go the route of the note through the door, it might help the situation if you put in a bit about your specific delivery instructions being ignored on this occasion?

Why take it if she was going to later be a twat about it tho? No one forced her.

One of my neighbours accepted a parcel for me and then left it at my front door around 5pm because he was going out. Wtf........

I put the note through yesterday as advised, I knocked again an hour after that but there was no answer.

I have been around twice this morning but still no answer, I can see and hear the tv on in the lounge so I would assume she is in.

I'm now sitting by the window watching for the postie.

I hope he can save your parcel, weare. Or you're going to have to ramraid the place.

catkind it was last Christmas. Although it may be that it had changed then and he didn't know. He's very helpful.

Have u tried knocking on her living room window?

Have you seen her? She may have had a fall or something?
