I think she would do wonders for the country. Really wish she would cue milliband and be our next pm.

She has been pretty quiet recently, could this be because she is planning this?

I knew she was a racist and a hypocrite, but I'd hadn't realised quite how bad she was.

WetAugust · 26/11/2014 14:41

Apart from making racist remaerks (and there are more than has been stated here) she cannot even control her own weight so is unlikley to be able to control a country.

Plus she's another hypocrite who sent her son to a private school.

I would be really worried about my political intelligence if I consiered her a contender (and she did run for PM was got beaten thank God)

Detestable woman

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 26/11/2014 14:44

she cannot even control her own weight Confused

Whatever anyone thinks of her political or racist views, weight has absolutely nothing to do with the debate! That's a cheap shot! Sorry, I don't like DA, but that is pretty poor show.

WetAugust · 26/11/2014 14:45

Ms Abbott reportedly said staff at her local east London hospital who were "blonde, blue-eyed Finnish girls" were not suitable to be nurses because they had "never met a black person before".

Lovely isn't she?

WetAugust · 26/11/2014 14:48

Yes, I admit, it was a cheap shot < and being Mumsnet of course you'd rather jump on the fattist remark rather than the MPs racist remarks >but who cares?

I'd love to see her as Labour Leader. She's give Comedy Ed a rin for his money.

And some of you call Ukip racist - what a laught!

Marylou2 · 26/11/2014 14:48

Grin You're joking right?

LurkingHusband · 26/11/2014 14:49

One of the tragedies of the 20th century for the UK was the death of John Smith. The only Labour leader I had any time for in my lifetime.

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/11/2014 14:50

No.

Labour's better off with Ed compared to Diane Abbot.
And he's a disaster.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 26/11/2014 14:52

Racist remarks regarding a contender for an MP (or PM) are relevant. An MP (or PM) should be neutral regarding that. "Fattist" remarks against the contender are not acceptable. "Fattist" or "Racist" remarks are equally objectionable. Your point being??

JennySense · 26/11/2014 14:52

I used to live in her constituency - her views are not even consistent with the majority of her party, let alone the country!

I had a friend who was in the same class as her and Michael Portillo at school.

TheAlias · 26/11/2014 14:52

The sad part is that I think there might be something to Ed underneath all the gaffes but he's never going to be successful because he doesn't have slimy good looks and charm of a David Cameron or Tony Blair. Gordon Brown had the same problem.

If you're going to lower it to such crass terms, you could say the same of our over-stuffed, pot bellied PM and Chancellor, Wet. Hmm

UncleT · 26/11/2014 14:54

I thought this was a joke at first. My goodness....

WetAugust · 26/11/2014 14:56

She won by 55% in a poor working class area. That totaly dispells any thoughts of her being out of touch

Your user name should be Clutching(at)Straws

Are you so politically naive that you dont understand there are some areas of the UK where Labour voters would vote for a donkey if you you slapped a red rossette on it?

Look at Lady Nugee aka the Thornberry van photographer, representing one of the poorest areas of London.

OnlyLovers · 26/11/2014 15:02

YABU, for all the reasons stated. The 'West Indian mums' justification for sending her kid to private school is wrong and offensive in SO many ways.

Glenda Jackson. THAT'S who would make a good PM.

2cats2many · 26/11/2014 15:26

She's awful. Only interested in her own self promotion. She makes me reach for the off button every time she appears on TV or radio and I'm a Labour supporter.

bobbywash · 26/11/2014 15:40

Evans ahh no actually racist remarks are a criminal offence, fattist remarks aren't.

Anyway that is enough of a thread derail. Diane Abbott is entirely unsuitable to be PM, she has made racist comments, has proved herself to be hypocritical and out of touch.

On second thoughts, she's entirely consistant with the last 3 we've had, so one lying hypocrit for another. What's the difference. (although I dislike her more than Ed or Gordon or Tony, or John M or Dave) infact I like her less than farage and he is one of the people for whom insults were invented.

Bettercallsaul1 · 26/11/2014 15:54

Lurking - couldn't agree more about John Smith. He was that rarest of things - a serious politician with integrity. A genuine loss to this country.

HeeHiles · 26/11/2014 16:12

Glenda Jackson. THAT'S who would make a good PM

I think we need to start a campaign - Glenda 4 PM Grin

WetAugust · 26/11/2014 16:14

What contribution has Glenda Jackson made as an MP? Or it is it must 'sleb selection? I was surprised she's still alive

HeeHiles · 26/11/2014 16:17

That is because she works away quietly in the background not seeking publicity like the others - she has made some brilliant speeches in the HoC - they are on YouTube if you wish to look - plus she has been an MP for Hampstead for many years, a Labour MP in Hampstead? Yes you heard right!!

HeeHiles · 26/11/2014 16:22

Oh No! Just read she is standing down in 2015 Sad She will be 80!

Thebodynowchillingsothere · 26/11/2014 16:25

Well she's a very annoying person and a massive hypocrite so yes look at Nick. She would fit right in.

Thebodynowchillingsothere · 26/11/2014 16:28

Lurking posted that a few days ago about John Smith. Totally agree with you.
