To silently judge all those with non capitalised usernames

QuacksLikeADuck · 20/11/2014 09:46

Consider these two usernames:

  • QuacksLikeADuck
  • quackslikeaduck

IMHO the first one is clearer, easier to read and just looks better!

AIBU to judge a username by its capitalisation and to secretly attribute the following characteristics to the owner of said username...

People with capitalised usernames are:

  • More organised
  • More punctal
  • Neater

People with uncapitalised usernames are:

  • Scatter brained
  • Always late
  • Messy

And even if your username is only one word it should still start with a capital letter!

OK I know IABVVU, and I am probably offending a good 50% of you right now! That's the point of AIBU innit?

But... am I right? Grin

I like the look of a lower-case user name. I sign my intra-office correspondence with my initials in lower-case (sef). I'm logical, neat, and punctual. It's just a personal style.

QuacksLikeADuck · 20/11/2014 14:10

Sorry, just had to pop out for stay and play. Thank you for making me chuckle, I think my theory may need some small revisions!
I think if you have a multi word username but only capitalise the first word then, it's 50-50 as to which group you're in! Grin

I'm in .............

o0 · 20/11/2014 14:17

But I can't capitalise mine!

It's quizzical eyes (yes it is) so one needs to be big and one small. I can't do it the other way as two o's had been taken so I needed an o and a 0. I could be 0o but that's still not capitalised as it's a number.

So there.

P.S. I'm incredibly punctual but neverendingly messy. Grin

thegreylady · 20/11/2014 14:17

I think thgreylady has a much more wispy vague look then The Grey Lady.

ouryve · 20/11/2014 14:18

Feel free.

HiImBarryScott · 20/11/2014 14:23

I think you & I would get on well OP.

MrsCurrent · 20/11/2014 14:24

Well I'm always on time. Just. But I am also very messy and scatterbrained!

fascicle · 20/11/2014 14:24

Your theory definitely needs some work and a change of hypothesis. I would suggest that those favouring the lower case are more likely to be creative non conformist types, unlike their more anal capitalising counterparts Grin

ghostyslovesheep · 20/11/2014 16:02

stop trying to fence me in you squares

I Bet You Like Thread Titles That Look Like This As Well ?????????

I am now going to end in a very annoying fashion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah The Man can't tame me Grin

AGnu · 20/11/2014 16:16

I'm incredibly messy, never on time & can never remember even the simplest task. I spend far too much time thinking about important things, such as correct capitalisation, to be concerned about mundane things like... Waking the children from their naps by 4pm so they'll sleep at bedtime... Blush

christmaspies · 20/11/2014 16:22

All lowercase is quicker to write

livelablove · 20/11/2014 16:29

Yes I am messy and disorganised and sometimes late for things so you're theory may be correct. But I don't care that much.

livelablove · 20/11/2014 16:32

Oh I just noticed that you're, sorry pedants that must be really annoying for you.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 20/11/2014 16:42

Did you mean to misspell "punctual" OP? ................. Grin

geekaMaxima · 20/11/2014 16:48

Am I the only person who has no initial capital but does capitalise the second word halfway through? ...geekaMaxima.

(It's a coder thing - not unusual to use a lowercaseUppercase structure for variable names).

Do I need my own category, OP?? Grin

kleinzeit · 20/11/2014 17:18

I prefer kleinzeit in lower case, although originally it was a proper name. But I have used CamelCase – yes that arrangement of letters has a name [insert smug geeky know-all icon] - for other MN aliases. So does this mean that sometimes I am neat, organised and punctual and sometimes I’m not?

geekaMaxima is Lower CamelCase. As opposed to GeekierKleinzeit which is Upper CamelCase. Grin

ACheesePuff · 20/11/2014 17:21

YANBU

bronya · 20/11/2014 17:23

Lol. I just typed something random in when joining, didn't really think about it. So probably yes - messy and slightly scatterbrained!!!

eltsihT · 20/11/2014 17:26

I am sulking too, my name is backwards so I have put the Capital in the correct place.

UptheChimney · 20/11/2014 17:35

To the OP:

Biscuit
coldwater1 · 20/11/2014 17:57

Can't remember if my username has a capital letter at the beginning...

coldwater1 · 20/11/2014 17:58

Nope. Oh well, not going to lose sleep over it!

rumbleinthrjungle · 20/11/2014 18:01

judge away Grin
