To silently judge all those with non capitalised usernames

QuacksLikeADuck · 20/11/2014 09:46

Consider these two usernames:

  • QuacksLikeADuck
  • quackslikeaduck

IMHO the first one is clearer, easier to read and just looks better!

AIBU to judge a username by its capitalisation and to secretly attribute the following characteristics to the owner of said username...

People with capitalised usernames are:

  • More organised
  • More punctal
  • Neater

People with uncapitalised usernames are:

  • Scatter brained
  • Always late
  • Messy

And even if your username is only one word it should still start with a capital letter!

OK I know IABVVU, and I am probably offending a good 50% of you right now! That's the point of AIBU innit?

But... am I right? Grin

OP posts:
Lovecat · 20/11/2014 12:17

Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I have a capitalisation and am the messiest person in the known universe. I actually don't like the look of my name with a capital. I should change it, then the OP can judge me better :o

Idocrazythings · 20/11/2014 12:20

I have been known to be scatterbrained, messy, sometimes late- perhaps why I only have one capital!

How do I fit in your mini psychoanalysis?

isseywithcats · 20/11/2014 12:22

I dont care wether my user name has capitals or not its easier to type and no im not messy, im not scatterbrained and im always on time for everything

primarynoodle · 20/11/2014 12:28

being thick here... if you searched

'primarynoodle'

and then

'PrimaryNoodle'

would the search results still bring up the same person?

mrsmilkymoo · 20/11/2014 12:30

Definitely messy but hate being late for things. Always find it a faff using capitals on tablet or phone.

RedToothBrush · 20/11/2014 12:42

I am scatter brained, always late, messy and proud!

treaclesoda · 20/11/2014 12:46

I used to have my username capitalised and then I decided that it looked nicer without capitals. So I changed it. Same name, but now without capitals.

What does that say about me OP? Grin

(I'm very organisd and very punctual and not scatterbrained as it happens. )

treaclesoda · 20/11/2014 12:47

But not so organised that I can actually spell organised apparently Grin

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/11/2014 12:53

I use my phone to MN 99% of the time and find capitals a real faff.

Im ultra organised, always on time and bordering on having OCD when it comes to tidiness so I dont fit your profile.

ShatnersBassoon · 20/11/2014 12:55

Gold star for me, Miss.

Starlightbright1 · 20/11/2014 12:59

if it helps I am never late , organised but messy

DramaAlpaca · 20/11/2014 13:06

I am organised and neat, but have terrible trouble with punctuality.

Two out of three isn't bad Grin

growinggoldwithcustard · 20/11/2014 13:08

I am punctual, very organised and neat (ish). I like the flow of a lower case user name.

SeasonsEatings · 20/11/2014 13:12

I have my user name in the format that seems to please you but I haven't always.

Username before this was created whilst in floods of tears and looking for advice, quite frankly I was looking for support which is more important than a username surely? (and the point of Mumsnet?)

treaclesoda · 20/11/2014 13:16

I think my user name affords me an air of mystery. When it was capitalised thus 'TreacleSoda' it was clearly a regional bread product. But what if it is actually eg a little nod to the French language 'Treac Le Soda' ? See, it's a without the capitals it's all a mystery.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/11/2014 13:17

I don't judge but it does make it easier to read imo.

ivykaty44 · 20/11/2014 13:17

if you can't read my name - you should have gone to specsavers...

TheGrinchWearsStripes · 20/11/2014 13:19

I am the dictionary definition of scatterbrained and messy. Always punctual though!

Is there a poster called eecummings? What would happen to them?...

PeaStalks · 20/11/2014 13:21

I can never remember on here whether Capitalised names are correct or deemed worthy only of NetHuns.

PoppyWearer · 20/11/2014 13:21

[smug]

I'm very pedantic about capital letters. Also very punctual and reasonably organised.

My grammar is shit though.

GetTheRedOut · 20/11/2014 13:21

I'm a pretty untidy and disorganised person, drives DP to despair! But I do need my username to have capitals and correct grammar and punctuation.

LineRunner · 20/11/2014 13:22

And does it affect MysticLeg's psychic abilities?

fourwoodenchairs · 20/11/2014 13:22

Judge away Grin

Marcipex · 20/11/2014 13:25

Marcipex
MarCiPex
MarciPex
MarcipEx
mArcipex

Hmm....

Bulbasaur · 20/11/2014 13:27

Capitalization is the difference between:

penisland and PenIsland.

And one is arguably more fun than the other. Grin
