Romeo Beckham gets £45 grand for a days work.

How much does this family need. Burberry have paid 12 year old Romeo £45.000 for one days work modeling. I don't wear Burberry myself but if I did that would probably put me off ever buying it again. How far will this family go for publicity and money. Small change to them though. But isn't there something wrong when a 12 year old gets in one day what it might take most of us a year or two to earn?

Oh dear, implication being that only college graduates work? Shaky ground there.

Pollyteacakes · 13/11/2014 23:28

The thread will be fine without you too Cats. I've answered all your questions but you never seem to be satisfied with my answers.

Ha! You havent answered any! You misread and misinterpret and go off on a tangent about things nobody has said. Even your last post you refuse to say what work is but are so confident that VB doesnt do any (apparently only four years of Uni allows anyone to work in your book Hmm)

Of course the thread will be fine without me, but i'm not the one saying i want to leave it.

Its like talking to a toddler.

I'm entitled to post on any thread, at any point, if I see something unreasonable.
You lack sense and consistency.

OP, your posts are ill thought out and lack any kind of logic and consistency. That's why you've been reduced to childish name calling and insults.

superstarheartbreaker · 14/11/2014 07:16

As much as I love the Beckhams and the ad...im with the op. It is a huge amount to pay a small child for a days "work"smiling in front of the camera.
Cant say I blame Victoria but it highlights the exesses of capitalism perfectly.

pictish · 14/11/2014 07:58

Of course it does.
I am once again reminded of how mumsnet becomes some sort of bizarre alternate reality when an OP quite rightly stating the bloody obvious, is inexplicably shot down in flames by a righteous mob on here. Confused

Of course it's an outrage that the perfectly ordinary Romeo Beckham aged 12, should be handed £45,000 by Burberry for a day's work, simply for having famous parents! It's an abomination (amongst others) that exhibits just how monumentally diseased our culture is by status and greed, and the fatuous worshipping at the alter of celebrity culture, as perfectly illustrated here on this thread.
Depressing.

pictish · 14/11/2014 08:09

Oh...and Victoria Beckham is the same amount of a dress designer as Katie Price is a children's author, or a perfumer.
Get real.

Very much LIKE Pictish's post.

I won't be drawn on whether or not Victoria Beckham is a good dress designer, as I have no idea!

But I agree with the op's op, very much so.

Carriemac · 14/11/2014 08:30

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 14/11/2014 08:45

I don't actually care if she designed her clothes, I know she runs her business and that's harder (look at all the excellent designers whose businesses have folded in the past). Designing takes skill/talent, running a business takes hard work. I remain scornful of the OP since her obstinate and ignorant refusal to acknowledge anything but NMW jobs as hard work renders anything else she posts as worthless.

Roussette · 14/11/2014 08:54

The Beckhams are able to do all these things because of very clever marketing of their name - Brand Beckham.

I am sure that VB has an eye for detail as far as fashion but without BB (Brand Beckham) and zillions of £ to invest she would have absolutely no hope of starting a fashion range and opening shops in her name. There are very many young, talented fashion designers out there with more talent in their little finger than VB has in the whole of her body, but they don't have a name and £££ to go it alone. I also very very much object to VB being made UK's top entrepreneur. There will be people on that list who started something with nothing but raw talent and we can't put VB in that category.

The Beckhams will employ a team of very clever accountants and financial advisers - they don't have to lift a finger to earn anything because money makes money. Nothing wrong with that, it's the way of the world. However they really could have waived the huge fee for their son and given it to some worthwhile cause. I am sure the Beckhams don't spoil their children as far as they are able to avoid that. But I'm really disappointed they are hoiking them out there into the public eye. I always admire kids of slebs who get on with doing something without all the publicity. There are children of famous people out there who have never even been photographed and it makes my skin crawl to see the likes of KKatona and Katie Price using their children to feed their publicity machine. I just thought the Beckhams were different. Obviously not.

SuburbanRhonda · 14/11/2014 09:05

VB isn't just in trashy magazines, though.

Her "helping AIDS victims" photo-op in Cape Town was reported in the Daily Mail.

Roussette (this time auto correct tried to turn you into, variously, rois set and rousettle) in business, money does not automatically make money. So many celebs have started vanity projects and failed. People keep ignoring this point but that doesn't make it any less true. I am really Hmm at the number of people in h ere who seem to thing that all you need to be a successful businessperson is a wodge of startup capital.

pictish · 14/11/2014 09:25

MrsDevere - I don't give a toot if she designs her dresses, or simply gives the okay on the final draft or not. In fact, I don't actually have an opinion on VB beyond thinking she needs to smile once in a while...but when I see that lad of theirs being exalted at 12 for no good reason at all, while families in this country have to take their own handsome, polite, ordinary children to food banks to eat, then I think it's long time that the Beckhams stopped taking for fuck bloody all.
Nothing will change my mind about that.

Someone asked earlier, "when would you stop making money for your family?"
I think 165 million would about do it.
The greedy, narcissistic bastards.

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 14/11/2014 09:25

Fashion is a big contributor to our economy, it's a big job creator and I know people who believe it's an art form. Me, I can't be arsed with it, but I understand that this is just my opinion and no more valid than the opinion of those who think it's high art.

I don't care if designs her dresses, I don't care how much they are worth, I don't care that she's raising the bar for women with her frocks, I dont care they are on billboards in their scants, I dont care Romeo looks darling in the ad as said above jesus wept who fucking cares?

I want to start a thread here

"Jordans daughter Princess got paid 45k for a days modelling how ridiculous and graspy"

and watch everyone come out in their droves to defend Jordan and say what a great business woman she is and how much she's done for us all

as bloody if
