The other thing that pisses me off is that when people say 'oh let him play again, how can he be rehabilitated if not' is that when they use the term 'rehabilitated' they don't mean him ackonwledging his crime and moving on with his life, safe in the knowledge that it won't happen again because he is genuinely sorry for what he has done.

I understand there is no "right" to return to your previous job post sentence - most employees will get shot of them based on them being unable to fulfil their contract. But since when does the law dictate that a footballer,plumber, mechanic whatever cannot be employed in his previous trade?

I’ve see the video of the girl entering the hotel, holding the takeaway Pizza, she doesn’t look too drunk to consent… I am now donning my hard hat ready for pelters.

No, it's well known that if you are sentenced to 5 years, you are allowed out on licence to serve the rest of your sentence after half that time. So, he hasn't finished serving his time.

The law doesn't dictate that you can't be a footballer with a rape conviction, but it doesn't dictate that football teams aren't allowed to discriminate on convictions, either.

In fact, that is why you are required to declare convictions at all- to enable employers to discriminate! I think Sheffield should exercise that, just as I'm sure any plumbing company would.

I'm posting this at work from my mobile so can't get onto the net to get this info myself - but, can I ask any of the SU supporters who have posted here to give us a list of sponsors (national companies at least) for your club & FA sponsors as well - I fully intend to avoid any business associated with the convicted rapist CE so a list of any/all companies associated would be helpful.

Sorry if this comes across as lazy - I don't have net access otherwise I'd do the leg work myself.

If any businesses or associations can't understand why this is an issue then I'd happily leave everyone of them to their cesspit of misogyny & make sure my money never finds its way to fund anything to do with CE/SU/FA etc.

he's already had a trial and an attempt at an appeal. I am hoping the reason they have fast-tracked this latest attempt is so they can dismiss it asap.

this is from when they threw out his last attempt to appeal; when he tried to question why he was found guilty but the other footballer wasn't.

Now, I believe, he is persuing an appeal based upon some social media messages deleted by the victim and some CCTV footage which show she wasn't drunk enough to be raped.

His family have attempted to hire an IT expert to mine the victim's social media pages for information which may prove she is lying. She has not lied, she cannot remember what happened to her but they both admitted that they had sex with her. Having sex with someone who cannot consent is rape.

The jury got to hear all the facts not just what was said in the media. I don't understand why a rational person would not be satisfied by the result of a trial but would be by the outcome of a review.

What 'fresh evidence' can possibly come to light?

a) not the same as having consented
b) another bloke,who she'd never met before, turned up, in response to McDonald's texts. Not her texts. McDonald's.

You can't tell that someone is able to consent by just looking at them. Were you there to test her capacity to think?
