Ched Evans Should NOT be allowed to train at Sheffield United !! Wales next?

DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2014 11:04

seriously?
I am absolutely appalled. I really really hope this doesn't mean he will ever play for Wales. I will definitely be taking part in some kind of protest if that happens.

Signed
I liked the wording used

AgentZigzag · 20/11/2014 23:19

I'm always logged on to fb Wink

Now I've gone back to the petition after signing it it's showing the 'post to fb' button, but I wouldn't have gone back normally. It'd be a shame if it's not just me (and it's a box that needs ticking somewhere by the petition maker or whatever) and you missed out on the numbers.

BinarySolo · 21/11/2014 09:55

I actually think what he said about men's urges and not being able to stop is pretty offensive to men. I've had numerous male friends over the years and they were predators ruled by their dicks.

I even shared a bed with a man when I was 17 who was 4 years older than me. We both fancied eachother, had both had a drink but only cuddled. Maybe this man had, you know, respect for women. A man raping a woman is a rapist there are no mitigating circumstances.

GetMe · 21/11/2014 10:19

I have ended up naked with men when I was younger and decided sex was a bad idea and guess what I didn't get raped and they controlled their 'dog like' urges Hmm . That's because fortunately I never met any rapists. What he says is completely offensive to decent non-rapist men.

I am also fed up of people commenting on this case without knowing any facts, she did not 'go to bed with him'.

Feel really pleased and relieved this morning that the weight of outrage has had an impact on SU even if like others say it's for the wrong reasons. Hopefully the message about consent WILL get out there...

BinarySolo · 21/11/2014 11:30

Yes I had an argument with a woman on twitter about it. She said 'Sorry but i dont get that..the girl said she doesn't remember anything so how do we no he turned up later?'

Erm because of Ched's own statement. Ffs you can't be arsed to read the most basic of facts about the case but have decided it's a miscarriage of justice when a jury (who heard ALL THE EVIDENCE) found him guilty. Idiot.

WellnowImFucked · 21/11/2014 11:41

Its shocking how many people have heard Rape, and not bothered to read any further.

The amount of people who don't have even a basic grasp of the facts and of course of the big one, that he incriminated himself!!!!!!

He admitted it!!!

He just hasn't got the sense/understanding that what he did was rape.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 21/11/2014 13:43

I've always wondered what CE's girlfriend would do if she ever found herself in the poor victim's position, say in the early days of her relationship with CE. Gone to a hotel with CE, say after a match, one of his mates blags a card to the room and turns up and sticks his penis into her while she's passed out from drink.

Acceptable in her eyes from the sound of things.

Andrewofgg · 21/11/2014 16:43

Thank you BinarySolo and GetMe for pointing out the offence to men. A minor matter in comparison but right to mention it.

There's no limit, short of murder, to the evil that that swine Evans has done, is there?

Above all to his victim, a young woman whose life he has ruined and whom he is still harming.

But also: he has spent thirty months in the misery which is prison in this country and wrecked his career which could have left him prosperous for life when his playing days were over. He has turned his gf and her family (and great numbers of supporters, probably decent enough types when they are not celebrity-dazzled) into apologists for rape, the second worst of all crimes; and has even dragged his mother and sister in, and I could forgive them, your kin are your kin.

And all for what? For a brief act of intercourse with a drunken and helpless woman in a hotel room with others watching.

Shakespeare got it right in the Rape of Lucrece:

But she hath lost a dearer thing than life
And he hath won what he would lose again
This forced doth force a further strife
This momentary joy breeds months of pain . . .

only in this case it is years of pain.

Let's hope that no other team buys the damaged goods and that he now sinks into obscurity. And wish what recovery is possible to the poor young woman whom he raped.

DuelingFanjo · 24/11/2014 13:19

Trigger, contains trial testimony from Ched Evans about his victim on teh night of the rape

People are posting this link to Twitter, in defence of Ched Evans (I think) because he said in court that she was a willing participant

Personally I think it paints both him and McDonald in an even worse light (If that's possible!)

DuelingFanjo · 24/11/2014 13:20

interesting too that Ched Evans tried to use the 'I don't remember' line of defence while giving evidence

OP posts:
DuelingFanjo · 24/11/2014 13:33

and there is this

"Manchester City apologise after certificate featuring Ched Evans photo is given to kids"

the certificate was given to attendees of Academy coaching sessions, featuring images of successful footballers who had been in the programme.

I didn't realise that the brother and the friend (the filming friend?) were in the taxi with Ched.

I wonder what their original intent was when accompanying him.

MistressDeeCee · 24/11/2014 14:32

Im not surprised he's being allowed to train again. Football is like a religion that transcends all, in the UK. It really is disgusting, not least in the message it sends out to women; & his victim.

I do hope some kind of protest action is instigated to get him out. The man has no shame. I am waiting to hear football managers talk such shit as "he's done his time hence paid for his crime". He has been convicted of a violent and sexual crime and should forfeit his career

YonicScrewdriver · 24/11/2014 14:35

Mistress - the offer has been withdrawn!

Andrewofgg · 24/11/2014 14:50

DuelingFanjo His image will be on team photos and in match-day programmes - together with other footballers who (so far as we know) are not rapists. It can't be completely airbrushed out - alas.

Some readers will have noticed that I dropped a word in the third line of the quote. It should read

But she hath lost a dearer thing than life
And he hath won what he would lose again
This forced league doth force a further strife
This momentary joy breeds months of pain . . .

DuelingFanjo · 24/11/2014 15:48

Andrew - it's been over 2 and a half years since he played, of course he shouldn't be in any of the team merchandise. Clearly, as they replied to say an old batch had been mistakenly given out, he is NOT included in the team merchandise.

Plus they got a new Kit in July so presumably they have new team photos. Given that he is NOT in the team then any new stuff produced and given out in the last couple of years would not contain the rapists face.

marnia68 · 24/11/2014 15:52

His appeal has been fast-tracked hasn't it? I wonder why? Confused

marnia68 · 24/11/2014 15:53

Has he admitted it? I though he had maintained it was consensual?

clam · 24/11/2014 16:10

I think it's the request for an appeal to be heard that has been fast-tracked, not the appeal itself. He's had a previous appeal overturned.

Andrewofgg · 24/11/2014 16:24

Dueling I should bloody well hope he is not! But if they have books about SU during the years when he was playing - and many teams have books like that - then the rapist's image will be in them. Books listing who played and who scored goals in every game, such as appeal to the more obsessional football fans, will have to go on printing the rapist's name.

The CCRC fast-tracked his application "because it might affect his livelihood" - which is one of their criteria. Since that was at the time when SU were offering to let him train and they have now - for whatever reason - withdrawn the offer, they should take his application off the fast track in favour of somebody with a better claim.

DuelingFanjo · 24/11/2014 16:28

Yes it's not an appeal. It's a criminal case review of his case.

And he may well be proclaiming his innocence but it was his own testimony that got him convicted in the first place.

OP posts:
LineRunner · 24/11/2014 16:37

I didn't think he'd ever been granted leave to appeal.

A lot of the applicants to the Criminal Cases Review Board are still in jail, waiting on their review. I imagine their livelihoods are somewhat more affected tbh.

Evans has the offer of work from his girlfriend's father apparently.
