DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2014 11:04

seriously?
I am absolutely appalled. I really really hope this doesn't mean he will ever play for Wales. I will definitely be taking part in some kind of protest if that happens.

I also suspect she considers the victim a "groupie" type hanger on sort and feels that they are not of any importance. It's like in the TV programmes or books where you see the wealthy woman saying "what does it matter? she's just a servant." That kind of mentality.

WellnowImFucked · 15/11/2014 03:10

Re: Natasha Massey, Cheds girlfriend.

I honestly feel sorry for her, what a fucked up family dynamic. I mean even if Daddy doesn't believe it was rape (scary in itself), he is actively publicly and financial supporting the man who cheated on his daughter.

How fucked up is that?

Yes sweetheart/princess I know at the least he cheated on you, so you had to deal with that, go for STI testing, always be wondering when he's out late whats he's doing. But it's more important that I show my support for him.
Ok?

I also find it odd, although I admit I don't know a lot about the family why has Natasha's Mum never commented?

I do think it's sickening that it's assumed that she's staying with him for money. Really poor attitude towards women. She is the proof that you can have the money and still be so under the influence of rape culture that you accept that a mans want to stick his penis in a female orifice is more important than the woman giving active consent.

Bellerina2 · 15/11/2014 05:33

Yep, at worst Ched Evans is a rapist and at best he's cheated on his girlfriend in a pretty vile way. Why is her father not out for his blood? A fucked up family dynamic indeed.

DuelingFanjo · 15/11/2014 08:39

Isn't odd though that because her father is rich we assume that she doesn't want for cash? I mean, normal people seek out a career / job and make their own money but we happily accept as a norm that Ched Evans' girlfriend relies on her income and status from first her father and then her boyfriend. What must her father be like I wonder? Or is he as much caught in this trap of believing that football and footballers are gods?

This whole thing has really opened my eyes to how much people worship football. Coming from a family that has never had any interest in the sport it's odd to hear people talk about how 'all women want to be wags' and so on. Not in my experience!

Clearly there are loads of young men out there who are so drawn to the myth of the cool desired footballer who can 'have any woman they want' that they really do believe this is the kind of lifestyle they want. So it's not just some women wanting to be wags, it's boys and men too - wanting to be footballers and have that lifestyle which includes not understanding the boundaries RE sex and relationships. I am guessing you can see these kinspds of lads (as well as lasses) out there on a Friday night doing their very best impression of a premier league footballer.

I bet you there are many women who have been raped by these kinds of men and neither are aware that it's rape, which is just bloody awful.

All my sympathy for Natasha Massey went out of the window when i heard how she'd treated the victim. She's been as vile as the rest of them.

I'll reserve my sympathy for the actual victim in this case. The one who got raped.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/11/2014 08:51

I have to agree with purplefeathers on that. She actively has aided in pursuing and tormenting the victim. In my book, that's inexcusable. I still believe she simply doesn't rate the victim as human. She doesn't seem to care about anything but holding her little fairy tale together, and that includes ruining the victim's life in the process.

magoria · 15/11/2014 08:53

There seem to be so many footballers girlfriends and wives who stay with them despite that they mess around.

If you take out the rape aspect he has just (to his girlfriend) done the same as many others of them.

Is it because they are rich, famous and adored by millions or for love?

I know it is not the women who cheat so nothing to be ashamed of however they are publicly humiliated with details plastered over every paper.

Yet most of them stay.

sashh · 15/11/2014 08:59

magoria

She once described herself on twitter as a 'WAG' - she seems to think it is a career, maybe others do too.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/11/2014 09:05

magoria I wonder if it's denial? Or if it's if they cheat with a "nobody" then it's just brushed under the carpet.. you know, the old "men will be men, they can't help themselves, but keep it far away from OUR circles, dear." She may not feel the relationship is threatened by someone beneath her. If it was another wealthy little socialite, someone well known, then it might be an utterly differently story.

purplefeathers · 15/11/2014 09:15

Brilliant news about the sponsors wannabe Grin

Bellerina2 · 15/11/2014 09:21

Jessica Ennis-Hill has now been threatened with rape via Twitter. Yes, a convicted rapist's fans attempt to "defend his honour" with rape threats. How depressingly predictable.

purplefeathers · 15/11/2014 09:24

And the convicted rapist condones this behaviour with his silence.

I wonder if the threats of rape and violence make Ched Evans and his family proud of their supporters?

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/11/2014 09:27

I wondered about that. It only makes them look more awful that they don't step in and say "hey, wait this behaviour is utterly out of control - stop threatening those people." I wonder if in a twisted way they are enjoying the attention, thinking that "oh look so many people love him and are defending him." Hmm

sashh · 15/11/2014 09:38

I wonder if the threats of rape and violence make Ched Evans and his family proud of their supporters?

Probably, some of them have been the ones giving out the vile abuse, some even have convictions for it now.

This after the rape tweet to Jessica Ennis-Hill:

Prime Minister David Cameron told reporters on the eve of the G20 summit in Australia that he understood Ennis-Hill's decision.

Speaking at an off-camera briefing he said: "I quite understand why she's said what she's said and done what's she done."

Anyone else find this something of a lukewarm statement?

AliceLidl · 15/11/2014 11:30

That statement from David Cameron is more than just a little bit pathetic.

limitedperiodonly · 15/11/2014 11:33

I'm not keen on Dave but I don't expect him to comment on this either way. Especially since one of the reasons that he gave for employing Andy Coulson as his communications director after quitting the News of the World over phone-hacking was that everyone deserves a second chance.

That went well, didn't it?

Chippednailvarnish · 15/11/2014 11:38

David Cameron's response is his typical limp fence sitting non-comment.

Andrewofgg · 15/11/2014 11:38

He's the PM, he runs the Government. SUFC is not a government operation and it's not his business.

Chippednailvarnish · 15/11/2014 11:40

A convicted rapist showing no remorse, is a moral issue that he should have to enough personal substance to comment clearly on.

AliceLidl · 15/11/2014 11:51

But the Deputy Prime Minister is also an MP for Sheffield, and he's been quite vocal about what the club should do with regards to Evans.

It's also a major case with widespread media coverage that has pretty much most of Britain discussion it and taking sides. It's an issue that is affecting Britain right now, people care very passionately about it, and so it's one that deserves proper consideration given to it by the government.

It's understandable that people want to know what stance the PM take on it and what he thinks in particular of women who speak out being threatened with rape in return.

AliceLidl · 15/11/2014 11:55

I missed out part of what I'd typed.

It's also important that he speaks out for Ched Evans' victim and the continued harassment she is receiving.

We have laws in place to protect her yet they are not fulfilling the role as completely as need be. She's still being hounded, so either those laws need to be used more effectively or, if they are currently fulfilling as much as they can possibly fulfil, they need to be amended so they can do more for her.

That's something the Government do need to consider right now as her case has highlighted how badly a victim can still be treated by a rapist and his associates while under the protection of the law.
