Ched Evans Should NOT be allowed to train at Sheffield United !! Wales next?

DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2014 11:04

seriously?
I am absolutely appalled. I really really hope this doesn't mean he will ever play for Wales. I will definitely be taking part in some kind of protest if that happens.

This jury seems to have been thoughtful. If they were misogynists they would have acquitted both; if misandrists they would have convicted both; if celebrity-dazzled they would probably have convicted CM rather than CE, because CE is far better known; if racist they would probably have convicted the black defendant and acquitted the white one, not the other way round.

Instead they listened to the evidence and found themselves in reasonable doubt about CM’s state of mind. On his own evidence he is a disgusting apology for a human being, but that’s not a criminal offence. CE, by contrast, practically convicted himself by his own evidence. If he had pleaded he would have got, probably, three years eight and done one year ten.

Good point about those who filmed the rape - why no charges?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/11/2014 18:26

I guess for it to be linked to the rape the Prosecuter would have had to be able to prove the other two knew it was rape, I guess? So until Evans or McDonald were found guilty of rape there was no charge to answer?? And there would still be a high % of reasonable doubt that the men filming knew? The prosecuter doesn't tend to press charges unless they think they'll win. I'm guessing here though.

Jessica Ennis-Hill has stated she would like her name removed from the stand at the club if Evans returns

PureMorning · 13/11/2014 18:59

Glad to hear Jessica has spoken out.
Jessica's quote

"I believe being a role model to young people is a huge honour and those in positions of influence in communities should respect the role they play in young people's lives and set a good example.

"If Evans was to be re-signed by the club it would completely contradict these beliefs."

AnyFucker · 13/11/2014 19:03

Good for you, Jessica

Rubyrooo · 13/11/2014 19:04

Just heard the Jess Ennis-Hill story on the news. Total respect to her.

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 19:08

Another question from me - I dont live in the Uk and somethings need explaining.

Why has the girl who was raped not come out and said - it was me. Why has she gone into hiding and moved house etc?

Is facing up to a 'bully' as in his supporters, and the attacker himself, not the way to put their gas at a peep so to speak?

Ohmygrood · 13/11/2014 19:09

'The 19-year-old awoke to find she was naked, with, she says, no memory of what had happened to her. That evening, she reported McDonald and Evans to the police.'

She didn't report MD and CE though did she?
Didn't she go to the police because she couldn't remember anything and didn't know how she'd ended up in the hotel room?

Damnautocorrect · 13/11/2014 19:10

She's gone into hiding and had to change her name, twice. Because she's been hounded and threatened by 'fans', supporters and private detectives.
This isn't one bully, she stood up to him

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 19:12

I think I said 'bully' as in his supporters.

PuffinsAreFicticious · 13/11/2014 19:14

If anyone from FWR had said that huge numbers of premier and other league footballers were probably rapists, there would have been a series of people piling on and telling everyone that not all men are like that. And yet some random football fan comes and says this in order to defend the indefensible and everyone's ok with it.

What a crock!

If football is so horrifically corrupt that you can clearly state that you believe that large numbers of it's players have committed serious violent crimes, then how can you, in good conscience, bear to have anything to do with it?

And Allison Pearson, the 1950s called, they want you back, you despicable rape apologist horror.

AnyFucker · 13/11/2014 19:58

CD, why did the behaviour of a rape victim "need explaining" ?

That girl's life has been ruined. She owes the rest of us gawkers absolutely nothing

I find your post cold in the extreme

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 20:01

No, its not cold. Much is made nowadays of how people should stand up to others, to speak out so others in the same position gain comfort or strength. So Im wondering why she hasn't taken this tack. Im not suggesting for a moment she has done it because she has done anything to be ashamed about or she is hiding from closer scrutiny.

AnyFucker · 13/11/2014 20:01

CD, have you been onto Twitter etc and seen the nature of the threats Evans' rape victim (and many other people who stand up for her) has been subjected to ?

Threats to fuck her up the arse, close her mouth with cock, burn her...need I go on. These "bullies" are very scary people. She needs to get away from them, not stand up to them. What the hell is wrong with you ?

AnyFucker · 13/11/2014 20:02

Would you put a daughter of yours in the firing line of threats like that ? This isn't a bit of playground bullying.

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 20:06

No, I haven't been on Twitter, the original case as reported is all I need to know regarding the depths people will sink to.

As for whats wrong with me?

Im asking a question and perhaps others will be able to explain it in a better way than you have.

AnyFucker · 13/11/2014 20:08

There is something wrong with anyone who says that a rape victim's actions "need explaining"

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 20:10

Anyfucker, I will take your word for it.

chockbic · 13/11/2014 20:11

Perhaps she wants to try and get on with her life?

Not that Ched or his cronies are making it easy for her.

AnyFucker · 13/11/2014 20:14

No, don't take my word for it. Know yourself.

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 20:16

Thank you Chock.

So much is made nowadays of fighting back, or not hiding, or sharing an experience for the benefit of others that I did wonder why she or someone around her hasn't said - enough, the majority of the public is on your side and its time to shut the bullies up.

CariadsDarling · 13/11/2014 20:16

Will do AF, thank you.

I wonder if the reaction to Jessica Ennis will be the same as the reaction to Charlie (I'm really sorry, I can't remember her surname). Somehow I doubt Jessica Ennis will receive the same amount of vitriol. I hope she doesn't. Its just interesting how some women seem to be viewed as 'fair game' for threats of hatred and sexual violence.

Good on her. I'm heartened by the way people are starting to speak out.
