Ched Evans Should NOT be allowed to train at Sheffield United !! Wales next?

DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2014 11:04

seriously?
I am absolutely appalled. I really really hope this doesn't mean he will ever play for Wales. I will definitely be taking part in some kind of protest if that happens.

OK. fuctifino doesn't drink.

Therefore Ched Evans is innocent?

Is that what you're really saying?

It's not the victim's motives or actions you should be trying to understand fuct. It's the motives and actions of the man who raped her.

CantBeBotheredThinking · 12/11/2014 20:08

Isn't there anyone out there who thinks the girl just should not have gone to a hotel with a couple of footballers?

She didn't go back to the hotel with a couple of footballers though.

One sponsor has stated they will no longer sponsor if he is re-signed and another has said they would reconsider.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/11/2014 20:10

windchime

She went back to the hotel with one footballer. He was not found guilty of rape.

Ched Evans joined them in the hotel room, after turning his taxi round in response to a text saying 'I've got a bird'. He also had to blag a key from the night porter. He then raped her because she was judged too drunk to give consent, sneaked off through a fire exit and went home.

What is it about consent that's so hard to understand (genuine question)?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/11/2014 20:10

I'm amazed how little the 'poor Ched' crew seem to know about the facts of the case.

Wishyouwould · 12/11/2014 20:13

windchime* the girl didn't go to a hotel with a couple of footballers. She went with one of them. Ched Evans arrived later. Have you actually followed the case? He has come out of prison showing no remorse and taking no responsibly for his disgusting actions.

LurcioAgain · 12/11/2014 20:14

Fructufino - he was convicted on the basis of his own testimony. The jury listened to his own description of events - that he stuck his penis into a woman who was drunk to the point of insensibility because his mate said it was okay to join in - and decided, on the basis of his own description of events, that it was rape. So not only is he a rapist, he's so fucking stupid he incriminated himself.

Now I don't suppose that this will change your mind because for some reason you are more invested in defending the idea that a drunk woman deserves to be raped than you are in entertaining the possibility that a man who admits he stuck his dick into a drunk woman's body, who has been found guilty of rape and whose conviction has been upheld on appeal is almost certainly guilty of rape. But knowing that it was his own testimony, not a "he said, she said" situation might be informative to others reading this thread.

And it sure as hell matters to his victim, who has been publicly identified and hounded by Evans' supporters, that people know the correct facts.

^^^^
Lurcio - spot on

HappyAgainOneDay · 12/11/2014 20:25

Isn't the fuss because he denies doing anything wrong even though he was found guilty and served a sentence?

tobysmum77 · 12/11/2014 20:25

yanbu vile vile human being and I bet his ' girlfriend' won't stick around long if he doesn't get another professional contract

Regardless of the guilt of rape or not he took advantage of a drunk girl who felt she was raped. His vendetta against her is every bit as bad as the act Angry . If he showed empathy towards her I would be more likely to believe it was just a truly terrible, terrible mistake . He is gross, disgusting.

Sallyingforth · 12/11/2014 20:26

I'm the first to say that women should behave sensibly and not get drunk in public - and have been criticised here for saying it - but that does NOT excuse in any way a man taking advantage of a woman who is drunk or for any other reason is not able to say no.

This rapist has only served half of his sentence, and it is totally unacceptable for him to step back into the public eye as a role model. The fact that he IS such a role model is illustrated by the pictures of the young fans who are calling for him to come back to the club.

DuelingFanjo · 12/11/2014 20:36

I don't understand though. Why shouldn't women get drunk in public? Does it offend you?

OP posts:
Sallyingforth · 12/11/2014 20:45

I don't wish to divert attention form this thread, but:

I don't get drunk in public because if I meet a rapist I want to be fully fit to resist. Rapists shouldn't exist but they do, and I want to be as small a target as possible.
Others may feel differently, and I respect that point of view.

UnicornsAndGlitter · 12/11/2014 20:51

I don't get your point Sallyingforth? How is it relevant to the discussion? Or are you suggesting that the victim is also to blame for making herself a target?

LurcioAgain · 12/11/2014 20:54

Sallying - more than 80% of rapes are perpetrated by men known to the victims. Even in the case of stranger rapes, they're more likely to be carried out on women who are out jogging, walking the dog in the park, coming home from work/school than women who are falling over drunk. And a very very frequent psychological reaction to the threat of rape is to freeze - it's simply incorrect to assume that because you're sober you'll be better placed to fight off an attacker. Unfortunately human psychology doesn't work that way.

By all means avoid getting falling-over-drunk. It's a sensible piece of advice. You're much less likely to sprain your ankle, fall asleep on the last train home and wake up in the sidings, make a complete tit of yourself by going up to your best mate and saying "I really really leurve you," leave your handbag (with house keys) on the bus. But it is statistically likely to make exactly bugger all difference to your likelihood of being raped. (Though unfortunately as some posters on this thread have illustrated, it will make a considerable difference to other people's attitudes towards your rape).

AnyFucker · 12/11/2014 20:59

Fuctifino, you are Michael Buerk, aren't you ?

Bunbaker · 12/11/2014 20:59

I work in Sheffield and the local radio station has talked about nothing else all day today. Three club patrons have resigned and one of the sponsors has threatened to quit if he is re-signed. There is also a petition that has been signed by over 100,000 people against his returning to the club.

Feelings are running high in Sheffield.

AnyFucker · 12/11/2014 21:01

...and elsewhere

Viviennemary · 12/11/2014 21:05

I listened to the MP and he did talk a lot of sense. And I agree that at the moment he should not be training with the team. But the PFA should not have asked the team in the first place.

And also. I have a question. Why was the other footballer not charged with rape. Because if she was too drunk to consent to Ched Evans then she was too drunk to consent to the other one. That's my opinion. They both should have been charged and that's why the whole thing is horrible and wrong and handled shockingly.

queenofthemountains · 12/11/2014 21:18

He was charged but was found not guilty. She went back to the room with him then the rapist Ched Evans turned up and raped her.

I'll agree the whole thing is horrible, that poor girl she's someones daughter.

But the verdict was correct and he is guilty.

Viviennemary · 12/11/2014 21:22

Thanks. But why did the other one just do nothing about it. He should have been charged with aiding and abetting or similar even if it wasn't considered rape. It was a wholly vile episode and I didn't really know the details till today. I don't think the other man should have walked free.

AnyFucker · 12/11/2014 21:28

They were both charged with rape. McDonald was acquitted because the jury still had some doubt (however tiny) that the girl either consented to sex with him (and him alone) or was not too drunk to consent at that time.

Personally, I would have found him guilty too, but there you go

LeBearPolar · 12/11/2014 22:02

Fuctifino, you are Michael Buerk, aren't you ?

Grin

I knew those posts reminded me of somebody!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/11/2014 22:22

The thing is vivienne it is incredibly hard to secure a conviction for rape. Evans was stupid enough to be convicted on his own testimony. The other guy was either smarter, or there was enough reasonable doubt.

Viviennemary · 12/11/2014 22:27

They should both have been found guilty. He shouldn't be playing football either. Somebody said earlier it will be down to money whether he is signed or not. Football is corrupt. No doubt about it. From the top to the bottom.

LineRunner · 12/11/2014 23:47

I think that Ched Evans's supporters have done him a huge amount of harm. Fucking tragic, eh?
