DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2014 11:04

seriously?
I am absolutely appalled. I really really hope this doesn't mean he will ever play for Wales. I will definitely be taking part in some kind of protest if that happens.

Lindsay Graham (female).

Why do some men hate women so much?

EveDallasRetd · 12/11/2014 16:27

Sorry AF, school run.

The second patron was Lindsay Graham. Although she says she has resigned for 'personal reasons'

EveDallasRetd · 12/11/2014 16:30

Duelling, have you seen the latest Jean Hatchett blog piece? It's on the same lines of those tweets. I'll see if I can link it (dependant on this sodding phone working)

FreudiansSlipper · 12/11/2014 16:32

oh what a surprise the thread was derailed over actions of a women Hmm

I really hope some male supporters come speak out against the club actions. not that I think a male voice is more worthy but sadly in this situation one male supporter will encourage others to and other men may then listen to what is being said

that makes me feel quite sad that a man voice is more worthy in this situation :(

and as for him finding work well many of us have had to change career and managed to do so with much less money to back us him than he has

chockbic · 12/11/2014 16:33

One of the sponsors has said they will consider leaving if Ched is signed.

DuelingFanjo · 12/11/2014 16:34

thanks Eve, I did see a link to it on Twitter but not read it. :)

FFS, duelling, it won't let me. I hate Apple with all my being.

Try this:

EveDallasRetd · 12/11/2014 16:55

Nope. Try again.

EveDallasRetd · 12/11/2014 16:58

That works Smile

But seriously. I don't know how that woman keeps going. Some of the abuse she receives is unbelievable.

twofingerstoGideon · 12/11/2014 17:01

Those tweets are vile, dueling. I do hope the police are on the case (but somehow doubt it...)

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 12/11/2014 17:04

It's appalling. How can people think it's okay to post those things? Confused I imagine it's that idea that they'll say something dreadful on social media that they'd never say in person to someone. Keyboard courage, rather than liquid courage, right? I think police need to jump on some of them, especially the rape one.

fuctifino · 12/11/2014 17:12

Would you still be baying for his blood if he'd done any other crime, or is it the fact it is a crime against a woman that is the issue?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/11/2014 17:14

No-one wants Ched Evans' blood. We think he should not be re-signed by Sheffield United, particularly while he is refusing to admit there is anything wrong with what he did. HTH.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 12/11/2014 17:16

you can read my post today at 0800 hrs. I think it's clear that it's not JUST the crime that is the issue.

AnyFucker · 12/11/2014 17:17

Anybody in opposition to Ched Evans' reinstatement and willing to post it prominently on a social media site are far more likely to get their blood spilled than a cossetted and protected footballer.

LineRunner · 12/11/2014 17:24

I don't want his blood, don't be so hysterical.

I would like his measured apology and to see remorse.

sashh · 12/11/2014 17:29

fuctifino

I would depend on his actions afterwards. If he killed someone, say in an RTI, as another footballer did, but then spent his time in jail hounding the family of the deceased and blaming the deceased for tricking him in to drunk driving and 'deserving' it and then insisted on release that he had done it but that it was lawful then I would be taking the same stance.

This is a man for whom a woman in a locked hotel room, drunk and semiconscious is there for his entertainment and abuse.

Why on earth would anyone want to employ someone like that?

itsaknockout · 12/11/2014 17:30

He has served his punishment and should be allowed to get on with the rest of his life IMO

ConkerTime · 12/11/2014 17:30

I don't think considering this man to have brought professional football into disrepute is baying for blood.

I think a major part of this is the fact he doesn't acknowledge what he did as being wrong.

Plus for me it the fact that what he did was premeditated abuse of a vulnerable fellow human rather than a reckless act that might have bad consequences. I'd feel the same if he'd abused a man.

fourwoodenchairs · 12/11/2014 17:37

In what way has he served his punishment itsaknockout?

Crikey, it's going to be a long night if we've got to extrapolate on this one.

Neverbuyheliumbalonz · 12/11/2014 17:38

Ad what about the life of his victim its? You know, the one who has been harassed so horrifically that she has had to change her identity twice. And the one who has never received an apology from Evans or his cronies for basically ruining her life?

LineRunner · 12/11/2014 17:43

He hasn't served his punishment yet. He's still legally serving out his sentence.

outofcontrol2014 · 12/11/2014 17:47

I believe that all criminals have a chance at reform and rehabilitation.

However, rehabilitation does NOT mean that they go back to their lives as they were before as if nothing had happened. It means living with guilt and contrition on a daily basis and building them into the practical way they run their lives.

He hasn't even shown remorse. Disgusting man.

LineRunner · 12/11/2014 17:56

Yes, I agree with that.

fuctifino · 12/11/2014 18:40

On the contrary, I am not the hysterical one here.
Everybody I have spoken to, without fail, think he should be able to carry on in the only job he knows.
Another thought, common amongst those I have spoken to, is that he shouldn't gain from sponsorship or endorsements.

There are 100's of players up and down the country who play for lower division teams, who do just that, play. Players you have never heard of who are role models to nobody, they are purely football players. Not all players are role models, they are representatives of their club, just as everyday people are representatives of their employers. He doesn't have to be a role model to anybody.

And no, I don't condone the harrassment of the girl involved. Mob mentality or vigilantism has no place in British justice.
